Welcome to the Brillkids forums! happy

You have just joined a community of thousands of parents, caregivers and educators who are devoted to teaching their children and giving them the best start possible in life.

Best of all, you are now a member of a place where you can meet others to ask questions and share your thoughts, ideas and progress.

Like many others, you may have found that teaching babies and young children is something that not everyone agrees with. Some people may criticize you or make you question what you’re doing. We promise that you will never feel that way here. Many of us have faced the same problems and opposition, and we are all here for one another. That is what makes our community so special, and we think you’ll agree.

But there’s so much information! Where do I start?

Like many new parents who are just finding out about early learning, you may feel overwhelmed and you may not know where to start. We have created a Teaching Babies Survival Kit which will give you an overview of the different learning methods, techniques, frequently asked questions (FAQs) and concerns.

Rules, Guidelines and Your Profile

Are you ready to start reading and posting on the forum? We hope you'll start by reading our general forum rules and basic community guidelines.

There are many things you can do to customize your foruming experience, and one of the first things you might want to do is to edit your profile, including your personal information and changing your baby’s age. Go here to find out how.

You can also learn how to change your avatar (the picture for your profile) here, so you can make your forum identity as unique as your own personality.

Join us in the discussions!

Do you have something to say? We would love to hear it! Learn how to create a new topic or thread, or you can learn how to reply to a post so you can get your voice heard.

You can also learn how to start a discussion about a video or file you've watched or downloaded so you can give feedback to the contributor or spark a great topic of conversation.

And if you need to ask another member something personally, we have a private messaging system within the forums. Learn how to send a PM (private message) here.

happy To start with, why don’t you go ahead and introduce yourself and join the discussions on your country's board?

Change how you get notified

Want to know each time someone replies to a post you've made? Or perhaps you'd like to lessen the amount of emails you get and subscribe to a weekly summary instead?  It’s simple to edit your Forum Mail Preferences to change the way you get notified of forum activity.

Loyalty Points and Karma

You can earn Loyalty Points  just by staying active on the forums! Our Loyalty Points System is a way for us to reward active members, and there are a lot of valuable products and discounts which you can redeem with them!

To easily check how many points you have so far, all you have to do is sign-in to your forum account, and your points will be displayed under your forum profile on the upper left hand corner of the forum home page.

Your points can be redeemed for discounts from our Product Partners; you may also use them to download premium content. If you'd like to learn a bit more about points, here's some more information about the Loyalty Points Program.

Have you seen other members with karma under their user name? Our forums are governed by something called “Karma.”  When you write posts or open threads that other people think are important, you get karma points which translate into loyalty points!

Video Gallery

Did you know that you can share and view videos pertaining to early learning? Check out our Video Gallery, which is full of great videos covering many topics. You can also access the Video Gallery through the link on the navigation bar near the top of the page (click on the Video Gallery button). You can even earn loyalty points for adding videos!

Helpful websites and popular threads

If you’re looking for other sites or have some favorites to share, our members have compiled a list of helpful websites devoted to early learning, teaching and fun activities for children.

And here are a few other popular threads that you may find useful:
    •   TV viewing
    •   the vaccine debate
    •   explaining early learning to others
    •   more websites
    •   right brain education
    •   the differences between the Shichida and Doman methods
    •   your experience with teaching your child to read
    •   teaching to read 2 languages at a time
    •   teaching 2 languages with flash cards
    •   sign language

What do LR, and LM and YBCR mean?

You may have come across a post that referred to LR or LM. Those stand for our exclusive BrillKids learning systems, Little Reader and Little Math

Our learning systems use the right brain and multisensory methods of teaching. LR and LM make learning fun and interesting, and best of all, the curriculum is pre-made. All you have to do is press play. You can even sign up for a free 14-day trial of both learning systems to see what all the parents on the forum are raving about!

YBCR stands for Your Baby Can Read, a multisensory reading system developed by Dr. Robert Titzer.

What are the Doman and Shichida methods?

Glenn Doman is the founder of The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential. He pioneered the flash card method as a part of an entire program geared toward helping babies, children and brain injured children reach their full potentials.

Makoto Shichida was another pioneer in early learning. He opened many centers in Japan and Asia. His method helps to nurture a child’s inborn genius and special abilities.

Downloads

We have a library full of thousands of downloads made by Brillkids and our forum members. The libraries can be accessed through the blue bar near the top of the page. Our Free Download section includes PowerPoint slide shows, printed flash cards, infant stimulation cards and more!

We also have an extensive library of Little Reader downloads and Little Math downloads. You must have Little Reader and/or Little Math to use these downloads. Some downloads are premium, meaning they are high quality and require points to download.

Do you still have questions?

Many of them may have been answered already on the forums. You can simply search the forum by utilizing the search feature near the top right of the page. We also have an extensive help section that should answer many frequently asked questions. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, just ask! Our helpful members, moderators and administrators will be happy to help. Just start a new topic and someone will answer soon.

We are very happy that you have joined our community. It brings us great pride to know that we are able to reach so many wonderful people from all over the world who all share a common goal of helping their children reach their full potential. We hope you will share your experiences with us and let us know if you have any questions.

Again, welcome to our forums - we're happy that you're here!

Hi Lappy!

Will try to read everything and digest what you sent me.... but will be a bit slow.....this weeks as the birthday of my daughter is fast approaching... and I haven't found a cake that will make her happy... initially she like a strawberry cake... we don't have this at Goldilocks or Red Ribbon.... so have to probably settle for the whole strawberry jam and maybe order a chiffon or settle for minicupcakes for practical and minus the mess... well still planning and keeping the budget in check.

Just me,

Hello everyone, wanted to get some opinions on how to start my 10 mth boy on some early education.

Am thinking of starting either Little Reader or the Glenn Doman program in my neighbourhood. Or should i do both?
It seems quite similar to me except for the medium and would appreciate any advice. thanks!!
