Hi Kimba,

Bingo! No he just made it sounds very knowledgeable... and also he mention some considerable amount of "research" used on his methodology, so I cannot wait to attend his seminar and find out first hand what he has to offer.

Mixing methodology is no different that what we do, is it? We use Doman, Shichida, YBCR, Tweedle Wink, Montessori, whatever we see fit to our kids.

Anyway, another useful information.... I'm doing a TRIPLE P - Positive Parenting Seminar which I'm very impressed with, great information for parents of kids from 0 to 12, and cheap, only $30 for 3 Seminars of 2 hours each. Highly recomended. Their hand outs were priceless.

I finished YBCR about 5-6 months ago and I have been using LR ever since and i have been enjoying it. Although I do feel I could have gone straight into couplets and phrases, My LO enjoys LR over LM but I still show her LM and she doesn't seem to mind.

I believe YBCR are coming out with the next range which is Your child can read and Robert titzer is coming out to Australia in January.

Hi everyone,

I've started doing Maths with my 4.5 month old baby, it's going okay - I'd like to teach him reading too, but do you think I should try to do it at the same time as Maths or just do one at a time? I am thinking it might all get too intense and complicated to try to do everything at once, but there seem to be so many great things to teach him.

Another Aussie Mum here. My boy will be 5 months on Saturday.

For math, we started doman-like dots when he was 3 months old. We have been going slowly as I haven't been doing it daily, but he really loves seeing the equations on the computer screen. We are up to around 50 in quantity recognition, but are still only doing addition for equations. That will change when I set aside some time to work on some powerpoints for subtraction etc.

For reading we haven't 'formally' started flash cards, but I have been reading to him daily since he was 6 weeks old. We are up to about 6 books every day, scattered throughout 2-3 reading 'sessions'. I also take the time when we are shopping to show him the labels on what we buy. I don't expect him to read or remember the words, I am hoping he takes away from it 'reading is important but also fun'. We also participate in 10-mins-a-day (http://www.tenminutesaday.com.au/workshops.html), I sign probably 15-20 nursery rhymes to him in a day, and talk to him almost constantly about random things (eg rules of cricket, or how the tilt of the earth affects the seasons such that it is so cold at the moment). I plan to start Flash Cards around 6-7 months, mainly to give me time to make them.

I have also been signing a few words to him (nappy, shower, book, food) since about 2 months. If/when he starts signing back, I'll introduce more. I have been using Auslan (http://www.auslan.org.au/dictionary/) in case he ends up in child care ... so they will be able to understand him.

Hi, I'm new to this, so here goes.  I'm from Mildura Victoria.  I'm hoping to do the brillkids programs but wanted input from other Aussies who have/are using it.  Is it all available online or do you buy software and load it on?  I've been just using printed words on pages but did the trial several months ago and it looks great.  Does it work as well this way or is it better to use hard copy words with your child?  email [email protected]
I have a flat out schedule as I homeschool an 8 y/o child with special needs (which is how I found out about the Doman system) and also have a 6 y/o and now have a 8 1/2 mth old.
So, I'm wondering if the computer system little reader and little math might be better for her, as I'm so pushed for time.  Any words of wisdom out there?
