Contest Rules:

1. Submit a full-length category featuring a Nursery Rhyme in the English language.

2. Categories must include pictures and pronunciation files.

3. All categories must be uploaded to the File Downloads Area.
               English Language Downloads - Little Reader Library Files - Multimedia Category Downloads

4. All submissions must be titled Nursery Rhyme – Title of Nursery Rhyme

5. You must include the verses in the Description for the category
Example:
         Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
         Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!
         One for the master,
         One for the dame,
         One for the little boy who lives down the lane.

6. You must type in “nursery rhyme” in the keywords section

Duration:  Contest ends on June 30, 2008
Judging:  KL & I will review the entries on July 1st. We will then shortlist the entries and pick the top 3 contenders and open a poll for everyone to vote in.  We will open the poll on July 4, and leave it open for voting until July 11 (1 week voting period).

Prizes:   
First Prize - 2,000 points
2nd Prize - 1,000 points
3rd Prize - 500 points

Will we get any points for uploading the rhyme category itself?
I was wandering if you want also the rhyme in word display... If no then it is clear that the pronounciation will go with the picture at the same time. But if you want the rhyme to be actually displayed what should the rhyme accompany??? The word display? What do you think is the best for our kids? Thank you for your opinion.

I was actually going to try to make a nursery rhyme one of these days anyways. Now I have more of an incentive!

When you say "rhyme" I presume you mean the voice recording?
If so, what we have in mind is very similar to "Hey Diddle Diddle" which comes in your Default Word Library.
But you can add sound effects too when you show the picture! :)

In your example, you cited an existing nursery rhyme.  Are you wanting us to use existing rhymes or to make up a new one?  :confused:

You can use existing ones if you like - Humpty Dumpty, Twinkle Twinkle, Little Miss Muffet and Jack & Jill - or you can also go for the original route and make your own!  We put no limits to creativity here, so we do hope that a lot of people join!

Is that just a word file? :blush:

They are the pronunciations of the words that you play. Like when you're playing the animal category and you hear the word dog. Yes, they are just word files.

KL, you are more then welcome. I am glad that I can help. And my daughter loves them as well. It is better for her then just regular songs. I added two more - The wheels on the bus and Alphabet song which is my favourite one. I would love to make even more categories, there are so many resources on the internet, I just do not have so much time to make all the categories I could..  I do not even have time to translate my (and may be others) files into Czech language and record the Czech voice to the files. But I love this program, I love this forum and people here are so great and helpfull. Thank you so much.

Thanks for uploading all those categories, you have sure been busy, Martina!  :biggrin: I enjoyed the songs you lent us, and I think it was great effort on your part to put all those together!

By the way, I have to thank you for the Czech math categories too, I found them so useful and entertaining, it was really great that you have attached pronunciation files.  :yes: (haha I'm learning too - dvacet sedm...)

Lappy, good job with learning Czech!  lol I am glad you liked my nursery rhymes. It make me feel usefull and now it makes even more sense to make more of the categories...  ;)
