Hi Kezia!

Is there a way to change the colors of the notes in LMus to align with the colors of the more universal Chroma-Notes used for boomwhackers and handbells?

Thanks!

Anna

Hi Anna,

The only note color options available right now are: Random, Default color scheme (the same as "Rainbow"), Taneda color scheme, and Custom (you can only pick 1 color that will apply to all notes). The "Note Color" Override option will only apply to lessons that are set to use note heads instead of icons. If you want to apply the selected color for ALL Music Notes lessons (Chord Recognition, Note Sounds, Solfege, etc.), you need to set "Icon" to "Note Head Only" in Override as well (see screenshot 1).

Another way to customize the note colors is to make your own icon set in Media Library > Icon Sets. You don't have to actually use cartoon icons (or images of things) - you can just make oval-shaped icons in the colors you want to use, then attach your colored icons to the notes.

Alternatively you can edit the existing "BK Rainbow Notes" icon set and switch the icon images as needed, or you can use the other multicolored icon images (BK Smilies, BK Dog, BK Cat, etc.) for your personal icon set. When you double-click on a icon item (e.g., "C Active") the window that opens will show the directory where all icons used in LMs are stored, so you can pick the icon image you want to reuse from there.

For detailed notes about the Media Library > Icon screen, see: http://support.brillkids.com/hc/en-us/articles/204598634

In case you choose to make your own icon set or edit one of the existing icon sets, you just need to select that particular icon set through Override's "Icon" option.

Thank you, Kezia!

I was able to edit the note head colors of the BK Rainbow Notes Icon Set in the Media Library, but I couldn't figure out how to make the background transparent. The rectangular background became white which covers up part of the staff line and overlaps with the other note heads. Is there a fix for this?

Hi Anna, can you please take a screenshot of how the staff looks like from your computer? You may email it to us at support(@)brillkids(dot)com or just attach it when you reply here.

Hi Anna! Somehow I missed your reply; very sorry about that!  nowink

I see what you mean. You will need to edit or redo your new note head images and make their background transparent. Usually in image editing programs, the transparent parts of the image is displayed as a black/gray and white checkerboard pattern.

Once the image background is transparent, save the files in PNG or GIF format  (note that the JPG  format doesn't support transparent backgrounds).

I'm not sure which program you're using to make your note head icons, but in case you use the built-in Picture Editor, the drawing canvas there has a transparent background by default, and you can save your drawing in PNG format (please refer to screenshot).  In case you get the "you have made edits using the drawing tool..." message, choose "Merge into picture." Try the resulting image file in Little Musician and the note heads would then display without the white rectangle background.

If you need further help with the images, just let me know.

Hi Kezia!

After some trial and error, I was finally able to customize all my note colors and align them to the Chroma-Notes colors. It's now working perfectly. Thank you so much!!!
