How do I create my own lessons with little reader? I want to create math flash cards with numeral, word, and quantity per card for numbers one to 100. I didn't find anything in the search.  I will greatly appreciate any and all help.

Hi Yisrael,

When creating your own lessons in Little Reader, you need to do these main steps:

1. Create a new category - this will be the "container" of the new words (flash card slides) that you'll make. Click here for instructions

2. Create new words - these will be your flash card slides. For every word you can set the "word slide" to be displayed (e.g., numeral or word), then the "picture slide" to be displayed (i.e., picture showing the quantity). Click here for instructions

3. Once you've finished adding all you want to include in the category, you can start playing that category on its own.

Alternatively, you can make a few more categories so you'll have several categories to play, or put all those category into a Playlist if you like. Click here for instructions on how to make a Playlist

If you want to specifically show the numeral, word and quantity (instead of showing either the numeral or word only), perhaps you'll find it easier to make your flashcards in Little Math, if you have it installed in your computer. Little Math does have "display" controls that you can use to do exactly that. You can even use the built-in premade number presets for numbers 1 to 100 and simply modify the display settings to suit your needs Click here for instructions on editing number presets

Thank you so much. Yes, I do have Little Math and did not know that I could do that. I want to keep it the way it is and just have the extra flash cards.  Am I able to do that with Little Math?

Hi Yisrael, yes, you can create your own set of lessons in Little Math.

Little Math does comes with pre-made numbers and math lessons - just go to PLAY & EDIT and click "Numbers" or "Expressions" (math lessons) to check those out. Maybe  what you need is already there so you don't have to make one yourself. smile

Sorry, Yisrael, but LM doesn't have a Print function Sad

You could take screenshots of the lesson slides and paste them to Word or PowerPoint for printing, though.

Hi Margaret! Of course! You definitely can get the latest version. smile

I'm not sure what version of Little Reader you have, but you may need to uninstall your current version first. Be sure to export all of your customized categories before uninstalling though, so you can import them later on.

Once you have uninstalled, please follow this guide:
Installing and Setting Up Your Little Reader

Hope this helps! big grin

Dear Admins,

is it possible to in Game mode to limit maximum numbers of words? By choosing maximum, for example. I know it is possible to choose exact number, but is it possible to choose a range? Thanks

Hi @andzhela:

Do you mean you'd like to have several "questions" during the game, or are you referring to the number of answers to choose from?

For the number of questions, you can edit your game presets and change "No. of  Questions" to 10, which is the largest number available in the choices. In case you play a game using a category that has less than 10 words in it, LR will still show 10 questions (some of the words from that category will be reused).

For the number of choices, the default setting is "Auto" - the first time a word appears in the game, you will see 2 choices, but if the correct answer is selected, additional choices will appear when that same word appears in the game as a way to "increase" the difficulty. If you want to see the same number of choices for each question, you can change "No. of choice" to a specific number.

Note that you can only edit your game presets (or make your own presets) if you have Little Reader PRO.

====

Hi @thely:

Please try to duplicate your categories instead:

1. Go to PLAY & EDIT > CATEGORIES
2. Select the category you want to duplicate (e.g., "Action Words 1")
3. Right-click on the category then choose "Save Category As..." (please refer to the attached screenshot in case you cannot find this)
4. In the "Save As New Category" window, type in the name for the duplicate category or just add the language name (e.g., "Action Words 1 (GER)")
5. Check the box for "Copy Words too" and type a prefix or suffix for the duplicated word files (e.g., "%X (GER)" or "(GER) %X")
6. Click SAVE and wait a few seconds as the category and all the words in it are duplicated
7. Once the category is duplicated you can start doing your edits on the duplicated words (translate the words, change the recordings, etc.)
**If you want to add a new word (that wasn't included in the original English category), you can add that to your duplicated category.

Repeat the steps above for the other categories, then once you've finished all your edits, you can create the curriculum using your translated categories. You can refer to your English Curriculum if you want to replicate the same lesson scheduling and playback settings.

For details on how to make your own translation of your English Curriculum, see: http://support.brillkids.com/hc/en-us/articles/204596204

Hi Thely, if you mean you deleted the "course" (curriculum) that you cloned before, the original course shouldn't get deleted at all, unless you accidentally selected the original course and deleted that one.

The only way to restore a deleted course is to re-download your curriculum file (from your BrillKids account).

If you mean you accidentally deleted the entire "Semester 1" folder of categories, just go to PLAY & EDIT > CATEGORIES and do these:

1. Go to "TRASH" - you'll find this at the bottom of the list of categories
2. From the middle box, select the category/folder that you want to restore
3. Press the RESTORE button (bottom right part of the window)

Please refer to the attached screenshot in case you need a guide.
