We've decided that we want our little one to be able to communicate in more than just engilsh and found a spanish immersion school here in our city.  In order to enroll in kindergarten he has to be able to speak some in spanish.  Since neither my husband or I speak spanish, we are using the Muzzy language video's from the BBC.  We watch those at least 3 times a week, but I can tell that after about 5 minutes the little one isn't really interested in the tv anymore.  He really likes the little reader displays on the computer and will sit through at least 3 categories without any fuss.  I was hoping maybe someone has or would be willing to make some beginning words (pronunciation) in spanish.  I found the animals, but I'd like some words that we could use everyday together, like water, cup, shoes...that kind of stuff.

You'll be pleased to know that the basic word library sets that come with Little Reader are being translated across all major languages and should be available for download in the near future.

In the meantime, perhaps you could try to find Spanish versions of whatever TV programs he likes? If he likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, for example, then he's going to like it whether it's in English or Spanish!

I think he doesn't like to watch ANY television.  Go to the library and get Teach Me Spanish.  It is childrens songs sung in english and spanish.  We are learning chinese with the cds and the kids sing along in chinese all the time.

Your right in that he doesn't really like TV.  We don't really let him watch TV so I couldn't tell you what he likes.  I know when he is at daycare she says he sits with his back to the TV and watches the kids for about 5 minutes and then goes to play with the toys and eventually the other kids come play too.

Dora the explorer teaches a wee bit of spanish, and has a magazine monthly to reinforce this.  I didnt think this was very educational, until i realised that off one Dora dvd you can play them in multiple languages...so once she learns the script in english, she'll understand it in french, dutch, spanish, portuguese, german etc... some dvds offer just one extra language, others 7 or so...Now that's good value!

yes, that's a great way of learning a new language. Since she already knows the story and what's going on, it'd be much easier to figure out which words mean what when they hear it in a new language!
