Guidelines for Posting Downloads
«
on:

Hello everyone!
We've noticed that many people have already begun sharing their Little Reader files, PowerPoint slideshows and flash card printouts!
We have devised a way to better organize these downloads by revamping the File Downloads area, but we still need a bit of your help. If you have uploaded your files, we hope that you will kindly
go to your download files edit them
and fill in as much information about the file as possible - this will make it easier for others who want to download the file know what they are getting before clicking on the download button.
For everyone who has yet to upload a file, here are some general guidelines and rules to follow:
•
We recommend that before exporting your files, personalize your categories and files in a way so as not to cause any conflicts with other people's files when other people import them. To read more on this,
please click here
.
•
Make sure you fill in all the required details about your download.
o
Title
Use a title that is self-explanatory.
Ex. Category – Body Parts, Chinese – Food 1
o
Category
This is very important, because this will tell you where your file is going to be after you upload it.
o
Description
Tell us about your file: List out all the words included in your category/file. Does it include pronunciations, videos, pictures and picture audio?
•
Double check the details you have written about your file prior to uploading them.
We can’t stress enough that you should make sure to place them in the right section.
•
If you are translating someone else’s categories, please be sure that you have their permission to do so.
•
After posting your download, go to the
Little Reader - Library Downloads thread
and make a post about your recent download, and invite everyone to have a look at it by telling them about what your new file has.
•
Please also include the link to your download in your post, so that people can easily access your file if they want. You may do this by copying the URL from your address bar (while viewing your download) and then pasting the link in the thread where you announce it!
We hope that this will make things clearer and easier for everyone. Posting about your new download will also invite other people to comment on it and rate it, so you'll get the feedback you need.
That's it everyone! Have fun sharing your downloads!

When we go to our downloads and edit the categories, are they going to be approved by you again? What happens with our points then? Are we going to loose them and regain them when it is approved?

That is correct.
Not to worry, you will get your points back when your categories are re-approved.

Posting Downloads - is it possible to post pre-sets in "packages"?
«
Reply #3 on:
May 13, 2009, 12:58:30 PM »
I have a question about some pre-sets that I created for LM, that I use for my daughter. I thought those would be helpful to share, as it took me a while to make them according to to suggestions and guidance from GD, and council from other members. So it might be helpful for others...
My question is of technical nature. The presets I did, are done by day, according to GD Math dots course. There are 4 pre-sets for each day ( as there are 3 sessions of 2 sets each, but 2nd and 3rd session is the same). I would like ideally to post these pre-sets in the "packages", for day 1, day 2 and so on. But so far I only figured out how to post each pre=set individually...
So I went ahead and just named them clearly, so they are easely sorted and clearly marked by days, sessions and sets. That was the next best option after the possibility of having them uploaded in "day packages". Did I do it right, or there is a better way to do it, that I am simply not aware of?
Thank you!

Hi Skylark,
You did it the right way!
Currently Little Math does not support exporting "packages" of lessons.
Cheers!

Right now, if a download does not cost points, then uploaders also do not earn points. We may institute a Premium classification for powerpoints/pdfs etc too in order to encourage high-quality files and allow uploaders to earn points, but that would also mean they would no longer be free.
The problem with the previous system is that many low-quality files were uploaded just to get points, so we don't want to encourage that.
It's a balancing exercise and we haven't finalized this system for non-LR files yet.

Hi Ive recently downloaded some beaut PPT others have uploaded however some have title boxes still embedded and other anomalies that inhibit legibility so I' ve cleaned a couple up and then I uploaded one, however just labelled it as same name but added Clean on the end it was Lightning McQueenClean. I hope that that is ok it seemed easiest just to do it straight away as Id probably never get back to it all! Please help me to do the right thing thanks Ruth
