Dear Everyone,

I am pleased to announce that Sheikh Muhammad ar-Ra'ee of the Glorious Qur'an Memorization Association and Academy, has granted permission to upload to the BrillKids downloads section, a .pps version of Lesson 1 - The Arabic Alphabet (with professionally recited soundclips) from the world-renowned program al-Qai'dah an-Nooraneeyah (also known as Noorani) for learning how to read and recite Classical/Qur'anic Arabic that his grandfather created.

Dear Ammum & Everyone,

Please find an updated .pps with embedded mp3 sound clips that have remained in tact.  Also, the first soundclip on the Introduction page takes a second or two to be heard.  Please listen carefully to the Lesson 1 instructions.  The soundclip on the Bismillah page is automatic, and the rest are heard by clicking the speaker icon, enabling you to choose if and when you hear the proper pronunciation.

Dear Munira & Everyone,

I sent the .pps to several of my friends and asked them to download it and check the soundclips.  They all said that it worked great on their computers.  So, I am unsure why it is not working on yours.  Perhaps Tech Support could better answer it. 

However, I did upload a link to download the Little Reader category file - and hopefully that will be easier for you.

Please let us know what happens.

How long have you been doing the arabic alphabet with your daughters...any progress yet? please do let me know.

I absolutley love this website, not only I because I get to discuss with like minded parents regarding the importance of early education. (unfortunatley a lot of my friends are very sceptical despite all the evidence available) but more importantly I can use these resources to teach Nawaal about Islam.

Sorry for the late reply - I meant to respond and got distracted - and just remembered.      At any rate, I am happy to hear that it is now working for you now. 

We have been teaching the girls the Lesson 1 - Arabic Alphabet for close to 1 month, I guess.  I am not really sure, because I did not write down the dates/times when I began showing them the printed out flashcards.  I put them into page protectors (one per page) and into a binder that my husband and I would go through with them twice daily - until I could set up the LR daily sets/schedule,which was completed on 10/17/2009.  I began following the excel schedule on 10/19/2009, and will be finished in a few days.  It is mostly review for them at this point.  With Noorani, the student must have mastered each lesson at least 80% before moving to the next.  For my girls - they recognize consistently, even though their pronunciation is far from perfect.   

Sheikh ar-Ra'ee authorized me to create a LR version of Noorani using the Doman method schedule - as a beta test for younger children.  Unfortunately, I am unable to release any other Lessons at this point.  I can say that I plan to begin Lesson 2 - Combined Letters LR Sets in a few days which will take one month to cycle through based on the Doman method schedule.  I have been busy creating the playlists in LR so I can just click and go each day.  It takes a lot of time with converting the materials to be used in LR.  And I am anxious to set up more Lessons so that I can focus on potty training them both soon.   

I also loveee this forum!  I believe it provides an excellent and modern approach to teaching our children Islamic/religious and secular topics - effectively and efficiently.

I downloaded the ppt but I noticed that letters ط and ظ were missing.
I have created my own qaaidatun-nooraaniyyah slides and maashaa'Allaah my daughter seems to be enjoying it and is showing signs that she can read them maashaa'Allaah.

Hmm - how did you create your version?  And that is wonderful news that your daughter is learning to read them, masha'Allah.  I would lay out two cards and ask the girls to find "alif" and if they choose the wrong one, I would show them "this is alif", and then ask them to find it again, and then to find "baa", etc. 

I began Lesson 1 with the girls when they were 2 years 4 months, and followed the Doman method schedule pretty close; materials preparation was extremely time consuming for me because I had to manually split the lessons soundtracks into individual soundclips, and match up everything up in LR category files, and create the playlist schedule.  I also had a loss of 3 months of preperation time due to a computer system crash and another 1.5 months after school began as I tried to get into a reasonable routine/schedule for them.  They are currently halfway through Lesson 11, which will be finished in 2 weeks, and then Lesson 12 will take 28 days (I created the pattern for the rest of the alphabet), and the other lessons are so short that they will be done in a few more months, insha'Allah - but the summer at the latest, insha'Allah.  And I am unsure how long exactly it would take from beginning to end via Doman schedule, and will have to add it up to see.  There are about 500 words/phrases in Noorani, and most occur in Juz 'Amma, but some do not - I also located the exact same word (with the exact same tanween style) in the mushaaf and noted it - and ask the girls to locate the word in the ayah - which do they accurately everytime, masha'Allah. 

Now it is just working on the flashcards for Juz 'Amma, Juz Tabaraak, and Juz Qad Sami'a, insha'Allah.  And then Baqara (which thinking about gives me a headache!, and then they have most of the vocabulary from the Qur'an.  And I intend to make soundclips with spell-reading/pronunciation at some point in the future, insha'Allah; but for now, I just spell-read the words and the ayah, and then use the word-for-word recitation software here > http://www.houseofquran.com/ (and they are working on Juz Tabaarak now, insha'Allah).  And then they listen to Sheikh Hussary repeat the ayah, stacked, and the entire surah, ad infinitum.  

It seems to be working because they can accurately follow along in the mushaaf, for the surah flaschards I have shown them, but I think they have memorized the words in order - which is why I want to show them in random order in LR.  It is just time consuming, and they are learning faster than I can create the materials, masha'Allah.  With Noorani in LR, the lessons were prepared at least 1 month in advance - and I am trying to get ahead of them for Qur'an, insha'Allah.  I am not able to show the Qur'anic words perfectly in Doman style at this point, but something is better than nothing, yes?

I have attached a sample of what I created for Maryam.  When I finished showing her the slides, she says "baa ... taa ..." etc. Maashaa'Allaah it's so cute.  I will create flash cards for her inshaa'Allaah and try your method too inshaa'Allaah.
