My native language is Spanish, my husband's English and we would like to introduce our baby to a third and maybe a fourth language at the same time. I'm wondering if there are people that speak a different language and will be willing to create the slides with the translation and the correct pronunciation.

I was thinking someone that has create a presentation in English and is willing to share it, can share it in a format so we can add the translation in a couple of languages. We will leave it as a pp file so people can delete the slides they do not want to use.

Maybe the moderators of the site have a better idea on how to do this.

This is my first thought and would love to hear from other people.  blink

Off coure I'll be happy to do the Spanish slides!  biggrin

There are many English files in the Download area. Have you checked them out?

Hi KL,

Yes, I have checked them out. See I had thought of something different. I thought we could create kind of a topic where we would agree on specific categories we were going to translate for ex. that week, but we will take slide by slide and try to get that same slide translate in different languages. People could select which languages they were teaching their kids and use the slides they need. I came up with this base on the idea on teaching my daughter three languages by doing word, word, word and picture. All the resources we can find here are wonderful, I just though I would be easier to have the same words by category in one place. (I'm not sure if this makes sense  blink )

Anyways, I looks like I only got one volunteer so far for chinese, so I may work with her to see how this works.

Thank you for following up!

Hi Joha,
Would it be easier if one set one language? If 1 pic 3 languages will it be confusing for our little ones?
I am not sure also... can we gather more feedbacks?

Hi Luckumommy1307,

The way I saw this is that it may be easier for them to realize that it is one object but with different names and since you are doing the slides with the same order for the languages my guess (and it is only a guess) they brain will pick which words belong to which language. As Gloria said it may sound confusing and  crazy for us, but maybe not to their brains.

We need more feedback!  LOL

I've seen a few where they have the English and Spanish pronounciation.  I don't have a microphone yet so none of mine have sound, but I think most people know how to pronouce English.  Anyone is welcome to add Spanish to anything that I have done.  I love the Spanish ones I have seen and would love to see more of them.

Hypatia,

Thank you so much for your interest! Actually I'm not 100% if doing this is a good idea.  blink  I don't remember in which post, but I read that someone actually call the IAHP and they totally support teaching other languages at early age, but they strongly recommend not mixing the languages in one session  Sad  I thought it will actually be much better becuase that way you could have the words of each language in a different color and then the picture. That way (I thought) the baby will deduce that the first word is english, the second spanish, the third french, etc..

Good luck collecting your points. yes  I'm just very active in the site and that is how I have been collecting most of them.  biggrin

Hi Joha
I've finished a second file, which I show my daughter. I usually just read out loud for her but added the pronunciation if you want to download them.
It is in French only so there  is no mixing up languages. So far I've done one with common foods and one with the usual toddler vocabulary (bottle, mom etc.)

If you create something in Spanish soon, please let me know!

Thank you so much for sharing hypatia!

I'm going to download the files so I can show them to my daughter. What do you think if we come up with a list of categories and words we will like to teach our babies? That way they can learn the same words in both languages even if we are showing them in different sessions.

Let me know what you think!  biggrin

Great idea.
For my baby, I teach her, according to Doman, the words she hears everyday such as the items in the house and the objects which are part of her routine.

The second file I'll do on baby/toddler vocabulary will include:
- The bath
- The television
- The bib
- The spoon
- The cup
- The plate
- The chair
- The table
- The car
- The high-chair

Oops! I'm actually not planning on doing those because we did labels around the house for all those words.  blush If you want to know the translation just type in the search box  "labeling object at home" and you can download the files there. I created the file with the word in English and the translation in Spanish right below. I hope this helps  smile
