It is very much in the TW style and extremely well done. Also, what a GREAT idea!

I was hoping that if I could make a tutorial explaining the process, there would be other parents willing to form a group with me to make similar videos. We could collaborate on what subjects we would include so as to not overlap and share all of our videos. The more of us interested, the more videos we have for our little ones!

So, who's in?? :)

Okay, so for all of us who are interested in participating, here is (based on the original forum posted video and TW's free preview video, here are the categories I came up with and what I though I might do for each:

Art – Works of Vincent Van Gogh
Science – Minerals
Culture – Canada (Location on map, flag, national symbols, national landmarks, provinces, provincial flags)
Perfect Pitch - C (in whole note, half notes, and quarter notes)
Vocabulary - North American Birds, Fruits, Arctic Animals, opposites (tall/short. short/long, wide/narrow, big/small, thick/thin)
Math – Dots to ten, skip counting by twos to ten
Phonics - “at” family words
Whole Words – first 20 from dolch words
Poetry – The Caterpillar by Christina G Rosetti
Music – Musical instruments (different set from what was shown in Annisis' video), rhythm (ta, ta, teetee, ta), Composer portraits (Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart, Bizet)
World Language - Colours, shapes, farm animals, children's toys (I am not fluent in any other language – I will do French if nobody else wants it. If not, I can choose another and get a friend to record)
Eye Tracking
Geography – South American Countries

Some questions for the group:

- Would you like to include the soothing background music present in the original TW videos?
- Would you like to include the "affirmations" TW has at the beginning and end of their lessons?
- Would you each like to choose a world language and stick to that one through each video you make?
- For rhythms, would you like to do the "real" names (whole, half, quarter, eighth, etc) or the common elementary names (too-oo, ta, tee-tee, ticka-ticka, etc)?

For me is very crucial to know how to do it as I am not a PC genius  lol . Just to make sure I will be able to help with it.

This sounds great and I would love to be a part of it, but I'm really not very good at computer stuff. But if it really is simple enough and you still could use another person, I would like to help.

Everyone can start choosing what they might like to do for their first video based on my example and we'll go from there.

Don't worry "computer challenged" folks - I will make a tutorial! :)

Can I make a suggestion for phonics?

If we will be covering word families then can we introduce the word ending itself first. I mean like this:

Does that make sense? So that we are teaching children how to sound out themselves?

Vocabulary – Prepositions, small smaller smallest, big bigger biggest, tall-tallest, short-shortest

That sounds great! For geography, I think it makes the most sense to do just the locations.
For art, I think it will be very difficult to choose 10, but that seems reasonable. :)
As for the phonics families, that was EXACTLY my plan!!

I didn't choose my History or World Religion sections. I will take:

World Religion: Baha'i

I got to thinking.... for Geography, should I finish the rest of the States of the US first?

I am def. on board to help.
My question is how do we make this? Is it made by using powerpoint slide shows and then put into video format? If so I have many slide shows that can help. I have musical instruments according to type ie. percussion, string, woodwinds...ect. I have made slide shows of shapes, the seven continents, the US 50 states and captials, the US presidents. So maybe with the already made slide shows it can speed but the process a little.
I was also thinking, that at some point it would be really great for us to make foreign language parts...like the video had spanish...we can add other languages ones each of us speak or know, it would really help those of us that want to teach our children multiple languages but can not afford all these expensive programs. I speak english, and a little very little spanish and italian enough to contribute to spanish and italian if you want to do that eventually.

As of now My topics I choose is:
Culture – United States  (how many are we putting on? should I do them all and then whoever is putting the whole thing together take out what they want?) I will def. do the sates, their flag, their capital if you want? I can also do the state bird (if that is of interest to anyone  :) ), National landmarks.

I can do this but I do not know how to do the rhythm...so if anyone can help or do that part.

If you read through the rest of the tread, you will see what categories we plan to cover, as well as what topics have already been taken. :)

You can grab the list of categories and go through what you already have and fill in your topics that way to make it easier (exactly what I did!).

As for how we will do it, my plan was to use MovieMaker (a windows program) but I will figure out the equivalent for the Mac users...it's really as simple as putting your images/video on one track and your audio track on another.

I look forward to seeing what you would like to cover!

Okay, so I read through the complete tread, that is why i modified my post and it was a little crazy :clown: , I just got really excited  :biggrin: 
I love teaching my daughter and she loves learning and anything I can do to teach her I get super excited.  :blush:
I have windows live movie maker although I have never used it like that...I never knew how exactly...I know you can not transport a power point to it though. However, I think I will be able to use movie maker with no problem... I did, when my daughter was born have a program called scate but it did not work well, I was never able to publish the video and you had to pay for it.  Anyway, I will be looking forward to a tutorial so I know exactly what I am doing.

So again I will try to cover as much as I can in  US culture and it wasn't listed but I will put the next presidents in. The music except for the rhythm because I am not sure how to do that.

Okay, so I looked at Windows Movie Maker on my computer and I can see how you can edit videos...I have even done that before. I can see how you can make a slide show of pictures. I do not see how you can make a video like the original video that was posted. I even looked up information on how to use the program on microsoft.com...all they show is how to make a slideshow of pictures really, not much else. I do not know how to use this program at the moment so can someone please help those of us that do not know. I was really excitied but now I am confused and feeling a little bit defeated already :( . So please share how to use the program so I can try to get started.  8)

That looks great (though you forgot to change your music! lol).

I would suggest that you go ahead and start gathering images (the better quality you can find, the better) an keeping them all in a folder. I'll show you how to make the word  portion and put everything together once a few more people have signed up for their topics.

I did one about 2 years ago I used Photo Story 3 for windows. It was free and pretty easy, but I got too busy to do more. Here is a sample.

Since it was I that suggested we add World Religion to list, I thought it might be helpful to post the POI list that I created for the topic. (I plan on making books out of photo books for Josiah based on these POI)

That's a good idea, Annisis. Not many people have really signed up for topics... Since you seem to be really keen to get things going (as am I), is there some way we can chat online to work out details like this? Perhaps if you have Skype, MSN, etc. you could PM me with yourcontact and we could do some brainstorming there?

I've been following this thread and would like to get involved. I have a 26 month old and we've been doing LR for about a year now. I haven't been as diligent as I use to be with her, but I would like to get back on the wagon.

My trouble is coming up with the topic info. I have a Mac, so I'm really good with iMovie. But I get brain freeze when it comes to subject matter, not knowing where to start. I'd be willing to put things together if I could get some help with content. Let me know your thoughts or if you have any suggestions for how to decide what to show. Is there a formula to follow?

There is a bit of a formula, as you can see in the rest of the thread, but annisis and I will get together this weekend to make it even more detailed and easy for people to follow. If you'd like, I can ever choose a set of topics for you. I just wanted to give people the chance to volunteer for topics that would be easiest for them to do.

I finally made a super short video!  Gathering the images for the slides was a lot harder than I would have anticipated.  I was worried about violating copyright laws.  I would love to know what others have done to get around it.

For slides, photos. I have variety of stock photos/pictures that I have purchased over the years for different layout projects. But of course it would have time to look through them and find what is needed, also I have some things from my husband ( who is a professional photographer).
