Can you check whether it's because you have Parental Restrictions turned ON?

Please go to the Settings -> General -> Restrictions and check whether the option In-App-Purchases is disabled.

Hi nradia,

In Settings > General > Restrictions, please go to the "Allowed Content" section and check that "In-App Purchases" is turned on.

In general I think it's best to leave the other settings as they are originally set, unless you want to specifically disable or enable any of them. "Installing  Apps" (in the "Allow" section) should be set to on, otherwise you won't be able to install any apps later on.

For your iPhone download problem, can you try downloading 1 file at a time first, and wait until the download is finished before closing or minimizing the app? Also, please make sure that you have the latest version of LRT (if you've installed it even before our announcement) -- right now the latest version is v1.1.56.

If you still can't download successfully, do let us know, and if you see a specific error message, please send us a screenshot to help us troubleshoot further.

I am so glad there is a Little Reader app now.  Thank-you. There is mention that PC users can access curriculum.  How is this done?

Everything is working well now!! :nowink:
I am now able to download the lessons..
It would be good if we are able to sync what is being taught to the little one on the pc,
can also be taught on ipad..
so at least if little one missed a lesson,
this can be done when we are outside..
Jus a suggestion

Great job and thanks for the help!! :)

This feature is not available yet but will be by hopefully early next year. Stay tuned!

That's also planned! Once we get the course curricula on the app, then we would next be working on getting them sync'd.

:) Okay, a question from a newbie here...I just purchased the program, and I noticed that we are allowed to put it on two computers.  Is the iPad considered a computer, or could I put it on two laptops and still use the iPad?  Also, if I take the laptop out of town with me, will the BK programs still work?  If I understand correctly, it is installed on the laptop and will travel with it.  Also, I'm looking forward to downloading some icons that my kiddo will really enjoy--just can't wait to see progress!  Thanks!

Title: Re: Little Reader Touch now available on the App Store!

Hi Carwash8, welcome to the forum!

First off I'd like to clarify that the "can be installed on up to 2 computers" feature applies only to the PC version of Little Reader -- in this case, you can install and activate Little Reader on your home desktop and on a laptop for travelling (or on another desktop), etc.

When you install Little Reader Touch on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, it does not mean that you used up one of your software activation slots, because LRT is a separate product from LR (PC). So yes, you can install and activate LR (PC) on two computers/laptops and still have LRT on your iPad. Also, there is no specific limitation on how many times you can install LRT (for example, if you have 2 iPads, you may go ahead and install the app in both of them!)

About taking your laptop (with LR in it) out of town, yes, Little Reader will still work (i.e., you can play lessons or customize your lessons). Kindly note that there are certain software features that require an active Internet connection to work, so if you'll be using your laptop offline those features will not be accessible. For a list of features that will be disabled when using Little Reader offline, you may refer to this article: http://support.brillkids.com/entries/20395761-what-are-the-minimum-system-requirements-for-the-little-reader-learning-system

I hope this clears things up for you!

Hi 2010BEBES!

We do plan to develop LRT for Android as well, but as of this moment we haven't started working on it yet so it won't be available anytime soon. Do watch out for updates!

@deanna86:
You can read more details about the lucky draw promotion at the Little Reader Touch website (http://www.littlereadertouch.com/)

@luckymommy1307: We just replied to your message, kindly have a look!

@emsgrammy09: That's something that may come at a much later date, so we can't give any specifics right now.

@MIP1999:
The Word and Picture Flash playback modes will play the lesson on "auto forward," pretty much like the way auto forward works on the PC version. Unfortunately the multisensory lesson is set (by default) not to be on auto forward -- at least in the current version.

To change the playback mode:

From the Lesson Library, select the lesson you want to play, then in the pop-up window, click on the pink button beside "Mode" - you can then select from the different playback modes available.

Kindly note that some playback mode options will not work for certain lessons. For example, Phonics lessons do not have a "picture flash" mode (because there are no picture slides in them), so if you try selecting that mode, you will just be brought back to the library screen.

same question here.
Could you please give any details on the price scheme, especially for the ones, that have bough a LR lifetime license? On one hand it is just another format, on the other hand: with such a brilliant app wouldn´t mind to pay bearing in mind that I will support the launch of LM or Little Musician, just as long as it is only a little, not too much (Spain as many more world economies is expected to have a cut in wages soon :-(

I was so excited to see Little Reader available on IPad.  We downloaded it immediately.  I went through several of the lessons when my son (1 yr) was getting hooked up for a sleep study and it kept him interested the whole time.  He fussed only when a technician blocked his view of the IPad.  I loved the realistic pictures and clear words.  I was very surprised by the embedded videos.  That was really cool.

The only thing that would be an improvement for us is how the cards are changed.  Right now, I have to hold it and advance through the lesson for my son because he can't do the slide action.  However, just having it open to a simple tap wouldn't work for him either because he usually just leans on the IPad with both hands staring at it - this has caused a lot of flash card programs to jump through too fast and words are said on top of each other and it's an unintelligible mess.

The only app I have found that he can advance himself is called Peekaboo by Baby Touch - it seems to open a small window to accept a tap input, takes the first one it gets and then closes the window, so that it progresses, but doesn't fly through because he's still touching the screen.  That's his favorite app right now because he can use it all by himself.   Would be icing if Little Reader incorporated something like this in the future.

Thanks for such a great product,
Kris

Hi, I've just downloaded the iPhone app. The free downloads for additional material is indeed slow. I thought we have until 7th Dec for the free download, but they are already removed from the download page today (Dec 7). How come?

A bit disappointed not being able to download free materials.

Hello everyone! Sorry it took us a while to get back to you

As you may have seen in our News section (and the updated post at the start of this topic), we're extending the LRT promotion for another two weeks -- this means you can continue downloading free content from the in-app store and you can still join the Lucky Draw!

Here are the answers to your other questions:

@DannyandAmy / @isapabi: Unfortunately, the pricing is not yet finalized so please watch out for updates on this later on (same goes for everyone who already owns LR licenses).

@Kris2010: Yes, right now there is no special tap input like the one you mentioned yet. We'll see what we can do about that, though.

@mooncake2: I'm sorry about the long downloading time. However, there is a very good reason for the large file sizes (HD pictures and videos), so I think the waiting time is definitely worth it!

In case you haven't tried yet, it may help if you use a WiFi connection to download files

About the files, please go to Download Lessons > Featured > Offers. We didn't remove any of the free content at all -- by default, the Download Lessons screen shows the "New" section, and only newly-added items are shown there. Since most of the free content files have been added many weeks ago, the in-app store no longer considers those as "new." Alternatively, please check out the Lesson Types section and you should see the same free content files there (categorized into Words, Phrases, Phonics, and Stories).

Hi linzy, can you try checking your iPad settings and make sure that you've enabled in-app purchases?

Please have a look at this article for detailed instructions on how to allow in-app purchases for your iPad (or if you're using LRT on an iPhone, you may follow the same steps):

Hi Julyeung!

Sorry about the long download time (it's because the lesson files include HD pictures and videos which have large file sizes). In case you haven't tried yet, please try downloading files via a WiFi connection instead of 3G.

I downloaded the app and all the free content I could get for it a couple weeks ago. Let me say that it is GREAT! I absolutely love it. I didn't have any of the problems stated. I love the way you've done the Alphabet song, it's great. Plus there are many options to customize the experience for your child. I'm also very thankful for the story time content. My little one absolutely loves it and is learning a lot. The voices are warm, clear and loud. The ability to easily repeat, rewind, or forward any particular page is just great. My little one loves it, and that's not an easy accomplishment considering that I also have "fruit ninja" on that Ipad.  lol

@glitterusagi and @lelask: The last few winners have already been drawn, and you can find the final list of winners at the beginning of this topic: http://forum.brillkids.com/announcements/little-reader-touch-now-available-on-the-app-store!/

@Ricardo Cuevas: Thanks for your kind words, and we're glad your little one loves it as well!

@xia and @luke6v38: Unfortunately we haven't actually started with developing the app for other systems just yet, but do watch out for an update as soon as we get to it!
