Congratulations! Inspiring winners.
I am once again blown away by just how clever little kids are. Sending a giant pat on the back to their mummies and daddies for helping them all learn.
I have seen videos of Megan doing some amazing things, a well earned prize. I am sure she will enjoy her reward and dazzle us some more in the future. Oh and she just looks so cute doing it all too!
I need to stop typing now as my kids want to watch the videos again!  lol

Great job to all of you!  I love showing videos of other kids reading to my daughter.  It always inspires her to read more!  It is especially impressive to see kids reading in multiple languages!

Hi Lelask.
I would be happy to share with you our reading schedule.

Mondays through Fridays we do Little Reader, in the morning and after her naptime in the late afternoon. In addition to reading with the Little Reader software, she also reads books in the morning. Her favorite hard covered book is THE BIKE LESSON (Another Adventure of the Berenstain Bears). She find the book pretty funny with lots of giggles. In the late afternoon, we also add some kids stories saved on my playlist:

http://www.youtube.com/user/myfaves09/videos?view=1 (http://www.youtube.com/user/myfaves09/videos?view=1)
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL764EA6AF90CBC533&feature=plcp (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL764EA6AF90CBC533&feature=plcp)

I just click pause on the video and she reads it before the story teller reads it. Megan likes animated stories online.
I gave cokers4life a karma for her previous post about the FREE year subscription to Ebooks which Megan is using. The site has lots of stories and she likes some of the SONGS which even have lyrics that you can read/sing (the pause button is a help).

Megan loves starfall.com as well.

Wow, so inspiring. I wonder, do you have to have used LR to enter this contest? Or is it just about babies reading in general? Again, I am just in awe, and happy there are so many other babies benefiting from Early Learning!

@jujubeesmom:

Yes, LR is required to participate in the contest. You can use any LR product: software, storybooks, presentation binder set, etc.

Hi maryOfUS,

may i know whats the diff when you create a playlist in utube with just adding the link to your favorite? Currently, i just add to my favorite with many separate folders, i have no account of utube so would you enlighten me please?
Is it more useful to use the utube playlist?

Thanks.

Hi babymum.  :)

I will try my best to answer your question as I am not an expert in using features of Youtube as well. I just use Youtube mainly to upload videos (as my relatives on the other side of the world are happy to see Megan in videos) and to view some educational videos. Instead of looking up again and again those useful videos that my little one likes to watch, I just created a playlist for her.

Anyway, when I added the Kids Stories playlist, I clicked the "Options" button (found in the playlist bar at the buttom of the screen) then clicked "Save as a new playlist" and add a Playlist Title, which is a pretty easy step, to save the entire playlist automatically(wherein the Kids Stories consists of 15 videos). Rather than creating a new playlist and adding each video url one by one.

Reading your question makes me browse Youtube more, specifically to look at the "Add to" button(add to FAVORITES or PLAYLIST) and to test the function of the Favorite feature. When you "favorited" a video in Youtube (once logged in to Youtube. Note that this is different than using the "Favorite" feature of your browser) it will be saved in your Favorites. You can't create folder/s under Favorites but you can add the videos in your Favorites list to your playlists.

With playlists, you can create several playlist names/titles (which act as a folder to categorize your videos). I think playlists are useful especially if you have several videos you want to categorize. Like, for example, you want to categorize your youtube videos by subjects-Science, Math, Geography, etc.

Playlists in youtube, unlike adding links to folders in your browser's favorites/bookmarks, allow you to play all videos in the playlist with one click (just click on the playlist name), whereas with links saved in folders in your browser, you have to click each one to advance to the next video.

Starting this month I want to be organized so I might be busy adding more educational videos in my playlists.

@ SaidahEmery. Walang anuman.  :D
@ Lelask: You're welcome and congratulations! I'm so happy for your child's reading progress.  :D

We loved the videos! Congratulations to everyone.

Ladies would you mind sharing your reading schedule and how consistant are you with reading?

Hi Lelask,

I shared our reading schedule in this post: http://forum.brillkids.com/teaching-your-child-to-read/teach-many-languages-with-lr-how-did-you-do-it/msg88105/#msg88105

Here is a copy paste of what languages we do each day:

Monday & Tuesday:  English AM & Spanish PM
Wed. & Thur: French AM & German PM
Fri, Sat & Sun: Arabic throughout the day
Fri: Japanese LR with Little Pim for about 45 min, then using the words we've just seen during playtime
Sat & Sun: Chinese (same pattern as Japanese)

I also supplement with Wink to learn, YBCS & Little Pim. I used to let my DS watch YouTube vids but now it is so hard to fit in our busy schedule (we do a lot of hands-on especially for math, science & geography)

About consistency, it happened that we didn't do any early learning at all, other than reading books. It was for about about a month and a half when we moved to a different country. I noticed when we resumed that it slowed us down considerably especially in the beginning. It took us about two months to catch up. Now, I try to be at least consistent with the main languages (Arabic, French & English). For the rest, I may skip a session or two if we are busy doing something else.

Sign language is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT so he doesn't get confused.I also use color-coded flashcards (a color a language). It helps him tremendously in distinguishing between the different languages. He now can translate while naming the languages. The first time he did it (at 19 months), I was in awe! I remember I was handing him a fork and saying "tenedor" (in Spanish) , he replied: "English: fork". Now he does it quite often just to show off lol
