Title: Roominate
Post by: cokers4life on May 01, 2013, 11:23:05 PM
Has anyone tried this product?  It looks like a great way to bring engineering and architecture to little girls in a fun way.   I would love to hear about this product if you have tried it.

From their about page.

Roominate is the first toy designed by Alice and Bettina — two engineers out of Caltech, MIT, and Stanford who wish they saw more women in their upper level math and science classes. They believe that early exposure through toys will motivate the next generation of female technology innovators.

They designed Roominate to get young girls to have fun with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), while building hands-on skills and confidence.

I liked this intro video.

Looks like a great toy.  I'm so glad there are more things like this for girls these days.  I never played with legos, but my 4-year-old loves her pink and purple legos from the box kits.  We'll keep roominate in mind come Christmas.  :)

This is fab...so much better than getting one those traditional doll-house type toys.

Thank you for all the links Tamsyn. I have been wondering where I could get something like this for my eldest. I can tell you I am over this whole princess culture thing and have wanted something like this for my dd for the building of that 'can do' spirit.
