Hello everyone!

We've noticed that many people have already begun sharing their Little Reader files, PowerPoint slideshows and flash card printouts!

We have devised a way to better organize these downloads by revamping the File Downloads area, but we still need a bit of your help.  If you have uploaded your files, we hope that you will kindly go to your download files edit them (http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=myfiles;u=2) and fill in as much information about the file as possible - this will make it easier for others who want to download the file know what they are getting before clicking on the download button.

For everyone who has yet to upload a file, here are some general guidelines and rules to follow:

• We recommend that before exporting your files, personalize your categories and files in a way so as not to cause any conflicts with other people's files when other people import them.  To read more on this, please click here (http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader/tip-2-for-using-little-reader-file-names-and-various-confusing-concepts/).

• Make sure you fill in all the required details about your download.
   o Title
      Use a title that is self-explanatory.
      Ex. Category – Body Parts, Chinese – Food 1
   o Category
      This is very important, because this will tell you where your file is going to be after you upload it.
   o Description
      Tell us about your file: List out all the words included in your category/file. Does it include pronunciations, videos, pictures and picture audio?

• Double check the details you have written about your file prior to uploading them.
   We can’t stress enough that you should make sure to place them in the right section.

• If you are translating someone else’s categories, please be sure that you have their permission to do so.

• After posting your download, go to the Little Reader - Library Downloads thread (http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader-library-downloads/) and make a post about your recent download, and invite everyone to have a look at it by telling them about what your new file has.

:) We hope that this will make things clearer and easier for everyone.  Posting about your new download will also invite other people to comment on it and rate it, so you'll get the feedback you need.

Are there any standards for pronunciation.  The downloads I come across so far seem to all be well done, but my sound doesn't sound as good.  Any suggestions for helping me create a pronunciation that people will find useful?

Just wondering where we are meant to get images for our downloads... as in, copyright -law wise. Do we put an acknowledgement at the end?

There are places you can obtain royalty-free images (as well as other media), such as wikimedia commons:

Otherwise, acknowledgements are always a good thing. Funny enough, on this point, Nohayo just posted a link to a site with lots of audio files, and I noticed some files (musical ones) were created by me many years ago. It'd be nice if they acknowledged they were created by me, but personally, I'm not too fussed. I'm glad others are enjoying my creations.

I have one question, why brill kids do not have more downloads than they do now?

More downloads? We have hundreds all ready, and we have only been around for 8 months or so.

I'm shocked by all the downloads available! And the ones I've seen are really good quality.

Is there any reason why most of them are PDF?? If I want to upload some of mine, would I need to do them in PDF format?

This is a wonderful site with so many great resources...I'm just disappointed I didn't know about it sooner. These last two years would've been MUCH easier :-)

Printed Flash cards can be uploaded in the following formats - PDFs, DOCs and DOCXs.

PowerPoint Slideshows can be uploaded in PPTs and PPSXs, too. :)

 iam trying to translate alot of downloads to arabic which is made by other so how to take permission from all!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????

You will need to ask permission from everyone who's downloads you want to translate. Then you will also need to say it is translated in the description for the download.
