Title: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Lappy on June 27, 2008, 03:19:49 AM Hello everyone!
We are currently looking for volunteers who are fluent in speaking foreign languages to help us build international communities. If you would like to lend us your assistance as translators, foreign language forum moderators and helping us communicate with people whose native language is not English, kindly inform us by replying to this post. :) Discretionary points will be awarded to those who are willing to lend a hand in building our community! Thank you very much, and we look forward to hearing from all of you! Cheers, Your BrillKids Team Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 27, 2008, 07:01:53 AM I would also suggest that anyone who can speak/type a foreign language to please write an introductory post in that language the appropriate foreign language board we have created.
If your language is not there, please let us know and we'll open one up for you! Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Joanne_Hung on June 27, 2008, 07:10:19 AM Hi I can help in part time basis on Chinese wording translation.
As I have to work on day time, therefore I can help on night time and weekend. Pls let me know if you need any help. Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Niro on June 27, 2008, 07:21:11 AM I can also help out in the Chinese boards (simplified Chinese).
Maybe I start a thread on the board to see who else speak Chinese? Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Bystre deti on June 27, 2008, 07:28:21 AM Hi Lappy and KL,
Can you describe in more detials what you expect of these people? I am more then willing to help with Czech language if I know exactly what you want me to do. KL, concerning the introductory post, it would be nice if you suggest in English what you want us to translate and I am more than happy to do so in Czech. Do you want something describing this project and this product or is it supposed to be just something like: Hi, is someone here speaking Czech? Martina Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Niro on June 27, 2008, 07:35:30 AM I just wrote this in Chinese in the traditional Chinese board:
"Hi everyone! Are there any other members here who speak Chinese? I would love to meet other people who are also interested in early learning!" Anything else you want me to say/do? Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 27, 2008, 07:44:25 AM Niro, thanks for that first post! :)
Martina, something like what Niro posted would be sufficient. The intention of these foreign language boards is to let people who prefer to write in a foreign language to ask questions and share their experiences with us and other members of the community. So, perhaps you could post something like what Niro did to get the ball rolling and see which other Czech-speaking members there are here. If these users have any questions about Little Reader or anything else, you could answer them or post here or on another relevant board about the query, and we can reply to you so you can pass the message back? And lastly, feel free to ask other Czech friends of yours to join, because language will now no longer be a barrier! :) Joanne, thanks for your volunteering too! Perhaps you can also post something there to get the ball rolling? Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Bystre deti on June 27, 2008, 08:03:19 AM I have already posted something similar in Czech.
Concerning my friends - I have already talked to many of them. But they are not as excited as I am. I brought this excitement and knowledge from USA where I lived. But I will keep talking about early education because they do not really realize what they are missing :( and how beneficial this could be for their kids... Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 27, 2008, 08:47:54 AM Thanks, Martina!
Yes, I think some cultures/societies are more accepting of early learning and others not so much. Well, let's see whether there are other fellow-Czech-speakers here either now or in the future! :) Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Joanne_Hung on June 27, 2008, 09:32:10 AM Hi.
I have follow Niro version and post a Cantonese version. Joanne Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: nohayo on June 27, 2008, 10:16:32 AM I would love to volunteer for anything in Arabic :) I just started a welcome thread in the Arabic section ;) If you need anything else (other than checking the arabic section for posts), let me know 8)
Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Lappy on June 27, 2008, 10:19:59 AM Excellent, excellent work everyone! lol
I must say that I am so pleased that there are so many people out there who are willing to help us out in making the forums multilingual! We hope that you will also invite more people (family and friends) to participate in our forums. Since more people can be comfortable with writing in their own language, this will surely grow our community! Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: leana on June 27, 2008, 11:52:40 AM Hallo, everyone! That is so great! I can help with anything related to Russian! And I think I can encourage my husband to get envolved and we could provide some of the Farsi translations.
Thanx for doing such a great job! leana Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 27, 2008, 12:10:03 PM Great, Leana, thanks for the offer!
Can you post something in the Russian board similar to like what Niro did? Thanks! Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Ana on June 27, 2008, 02:56:58 PM Hi!
I'm from Portugal. I can help with something in portuguese. Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: shobbs on June 27, 2008, 10:32:40 PM I am from Brazil. I can help with some Brazilian Portuguese. I would love to help!!!
Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 28, 2008, 02:09:55 AM Thanks for your offers, Ana and shobbs!
I've just opened up a Português board - please post something in Portugese there like what the others have done on the other languages. btw, I presume that one Portugese board would be enough to cover both Portugal Portugese and Brazilian Portugese? I understand that the difference between the two is similar to American English and British English, right? Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: tinksy on June 29, 2008, 08:09:56 AM Hello everyone,
I could translate into German and help if necessary there. I am German by passport but grew up bilingually with my mother being british. Regards Tinksy Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 29, 2008, 09:37:28 AM Great, Tinksy! Would you mind posting something in German in the German board? Something like what Niro or the others wrote would suffice!
I only know one German word - Gesundheit! (ok, and also 'danke shen') :) Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: tinksy on June 29, 2008, 06:44:43 PM You are funny how am I supposed to read what they have wrote in their language ;-)
Can you just let me know what to write and then can I do anything else? Tina Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Bystre deti on June 29, 2008, 07:08:22 PM I just wrote this in Chinese in the traditional Chinese board: Something like this. :D"Hi everyone! Are there any other members here who speak Chinese? I would love to meet other people who are also interested in early learning!" Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: KL on June 30, 2008, 03:27:44 AM Thanks, Martina, and thanks for writing that German post, Tina!
Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Ana on June 30, 2008, 10:41:31 AM Thanks for your offers, Ana and shobbs! I've just opened up a Português board - please post something in Portugese there like what the others have done on the other languages. btw, I presume that one Portugese board would be enough to cover both Portugal Portugese and Brazilian Portugese? I understand that the difference between the two is similar to American English and British English, right? Yes it is very similar. Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Gabriel n Sophia s Mom on June 30, 2008, 02:23:51 PM :tongue2:Alright!!!

May I suggest you start the Spanish board rolling by posting something like what Niro posted on the Chinese board, which is: "Hi everyone! Are there any other members here who speak Chinese? I would love to meet other people who are also interested in early learning!" (Feel free to change it to whatever you like!) Also, please feel free to translate any or all of our Little Reader Categories or ppt slideshows into Spanish and upload them! (you can get a lot of points by doing that!). Muchas gracias! :) KL Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: Anyta84 on June 30, 2008, 10:27:45 PM I could do something in Spanish, I've been very busy lately, but I will try to do it! :). Our foreign language boards have seen a great number of activity, and we are very happy that a lot of parents who are more comfortable speaking in their own language have a place where they can chat more easily.
Please do let us know in case someone asks you a technical question about Little Reader or the forums, perhaps we can help by supplying you with the information to be able to answer them. :) I think this is a great progression for our community because it shows that we care about helping other parents get the answers they need about early education! Again, our deepest thanks! I am very happy that a lot of you are so very willing to help us out, especially with the translations and the foreign language boards. I would personally like for all of you to remain very helpful, because I do believe that we have a lot of international members here who are not very comfortable in speaking English (seeing as it may not be their first language). There are so many people here who may be having a bit of difficulty in getting around the forums or perhaps with using Little Reader, I do hope that I can count on all of you to help us in answering their questions and being as accommodating as best as you can. Thank you very much to everyone who is kind enough to share their time and thoughts - especially with helping other people in the forum. You are what makes our online community grow stronger. Cheers, Lappy  Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: nteoyp on September 27, 2008, 05:23:17 AM Hi, I think I might be able to help in translating into Japanese. It is only after posting a reply that I found out that Kimbosan was born in South Africa. I hope to get to know Kimbosan better.

I will upload the categories when I finish them. Not sure how I can put the categories under Foreign langues folder and not sure if I want to do that.
I know there are more Dutch people on the forum (judging by names and uploaded files). Let's combine our efforts! I have got and uploaded (not sure that succeeded though, let me know, I'll try again) DutchAnimals.cat and DutchShapes.cat I also made DutchFamily, but I haven't uploaded that one yet. the DutchAnimals contains photo's of one of our sheep with its lamb. cheers Karoline Title: Re: Looking for Foreign Language Volunteers Post by: tik on October 15, 2008, 06:00:57 PM Hello, Mr/Ms editor,

We just opened our Boards by Country, which is located just below the foreign language boards. :) We'd like to get everyone's help in making our forum more "international" so people from other countries will find that they have a place to stay in here, too! If you have some time to spare, do visit the Boards By Country area and post anything in the board for your location. :) This'll be a great way to meet new friends that are in your area, as well as talk about specific things - like shops, schools, restaurants, landmarks - that are particular to your country! Feel free to post in either English or your native language! Hope to see more of you active there, too! Cheers everyone, and happy teaching!
