Title: SparkAbilities
Post by: tlyoung on June 29, 2010, 11:08:57 PM
I found out about Spark Abilities from this website and was impressed.  I just ordered the BABIES-birth and up and BABIES-sitters and up.  I will let you know what I think about them after I get them and after our baby is born (August EDD).

I have enjoyed watching the videos preview at Spark Abilities. Unfortunatelly they are only in NTSC DVD format and in Europe we use PAL system

Email the contact on the web site and let her know you would like to have the DVD in your format.  I already emailed her about doing the program in other languages such as French and Spanish.  Or offering discounted boxed sets. She said that the company was new and would like to expand in the future.  I received a discount coupon for 30% off, Good Luck

Hi!  I'm Jana the creator/producer of Sparkabilities.  Just wanted to let you know that even though the DVDs are not in the PAL format, they can be played on computers.  It's an option that has worked well for other customers.  Just thought I would let you know.

Also, we are planning to release all of the DVDs as iPad and iPhone apps in the next few months.  So, there won't be any format issues there!  There is a Babies 2 app in the iTunes store now that contains segments from the Babies 2 DVD and interactive flashcards that correspond to the movies.  A Babies 1 app done in the same format should be released very soon.

Please, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much for your interest,

Jana

Hi! Like Saunier I am based in Spain, so you already have two potential customers there! ;-)
Fine if I could play it on my computer but I would also want it to work on my TV (PAL system).
Is there any way to convert NTSC  to PAL?

Thanks in advance for your reply. ISA

Isa,
Google NTSC to PAL converter.  This search came up with several options and companies.  They seem affordable.Tracy

I like the product and have the following questions about it:

Are all the DVDs the same length of time?
How long is each and how are you suppose to pass it to a baby, does it has divisions?

Hi 2010BEBES,

Your question has inspired me to check the length of each Sparkabilities dvd
Babies 1 is 22 mins and 45 secs
Babies 2 is 23 mins and 36 secs
Toddlers 1 is 36 mins and 5 secs
Toddlers 2 is 39 mins and 10 secs

Their main menu gives you the option to play the entire dvd once or repeated
I appreciate the repeat option because my son often watches the entire Babies 1 twice back to back.
He gets a little mad when the credits come on because he knows the show is over
The dvd is set up in sections so you can use your dvd player options to play by titles

I really like sparkabilities because in addition to the concepts they show they also have clips of how to engage your baby in physical activity.  They also speak the alphabet, vowels, do rei me.. and they speak the sounds of each letter

Personally I think there is a lot going on here. I visited this page because I got a recommendation to visit it on topamericanwriters.com/best-american-essay-writers/ (https://topamericanwriters.com/best-american-essay-writers/). I am disappointed, but I don’t really think that I like this site.
