Ok - I should probably state that I just got it, but she does not like it, and usually when she responds to things with such strong aversion she does not change her mind. She is 2 and 8 months and does not seem to like the random way the numbers appear (to teach quantity). She wants to count in sequence, so when she sees something like 3, 5, 1, 4, 2 she is not best pleased!

Is she too old for the program?

She also does no seem to like them flashing in front of her - stating the quantity - she wants to count them.

I thought of trying it again one or two times this week but because it is dislike rather than disinterest I am not sure whether I should...

Should I try something else?

I face the same thing with my 2 y/o as she will turn her face around to show dislike or just grunble  confused
But she very much like LR & LC that just before 2 y/o now she can sight read a number of words both Eng/Chinese.
Anyone out there who faced this before & overcome it ,please share with us.
Though she can recites 1-10 in Eng/chinese & also read just the words with no picture objects.

She loves the LR and some aspects of LM... I am yet to try LC. We shall see.

I will let you know if I am able to get around the LM aversion! Maybe it is because we have not done much visual maths to date. She can count well and recognise numbers but we have not done quantities formally... I might use some beads and do quantities with her that way for a bit an see if this makes a difference.

Why dont you try Kindergarten math. It would be very interesting to your child. My sister's child really enjoy working out each pages in the book. Kindergarten math worksheets are prepared carefully to generate interest and fun for children to work on these worksheets. Most worksheets consist of colorful pictures and shapes to carry out without boredom. Same is the case of Kindergarten math sets with numbers 1-20.

My daughter is nearly 11 months old.  We have been doing Little Reader and Little Maths for 7 months now and have just started Little Musician.  She loves LR and Little Musician but shows no interest in Little Maths whatsoever.

My husband and I don't particularly enjoy maths, maybe she has inherited our genes!?

Any ideas?

Hi Nicki,

Some kids have phases. This might not be her math phase. My sons were the same. Older son never really liked numbers but loved reading and anything related to alphabets. My younger son was the reverse. He started off loving Little Math more than Little Reader. After a while, he started to like LR more than LM. At another time Little Musician was his favourite. There were periods when he didn't want one or the other and I would just take the opportunity to focus on the one the likes and let him decide whether he wants to do the others. If he didn't, I'd just leave it out. I found that as long as I made sure not to force it, he would eventually find a time when he would want to do it.

You can try supplementing with other number games that might get her interested in numbers and hold off Little Math for a while. Once she decides that numbers are fun, she will get excited about Little Math.

My little guy is 10 months old and he is hit or miss with LM. If she is not upset and just not looking, keep play it. Give her a snack or something to do with her hands. Even if she doesn't seem to be watching she is likely absorbing some of the information.
If she is bothered by it, just take a break.

I really think some children just have different interests. I try and engage them by acting enthused about it myself, but maybe somehow they have the sense to read through it. Just keep trying  smile

My daughter is 11 mos. when we started LM, it was curiousity rather than interest or like... But we are still having lessons, I take breaks for a week just to give her time to take in and to be familiar with math. I don't want to feel frustrated, lest not to focus on results Wink  Will try some other stuff for her to be interested and love math in the future.

Thanks for the thread with advice how to use it with toddlers and preschoolers. I think my toddler and preschooler will like it better and get more from it now by working with skip counting and counting in order and expressions.
