Re: LR 2.0 downloading and installing problems? Please post here!

Hi All,
I'm confused and I have a few suggestions.

 i've downloaded the new version today, gone through the set up wizard but top left of screen it still shows version 2.588 ??/ then on bottom right of support tools page it says version 2.130.

what version do i have running now? what did i do wrong?
I did send a report, sorry for the redundancy but i thought someone other than tech team may be able to help.


When backing up files- maybe i did it wrong but its difficult to remember all the files i've added to.
Can u give flag that indicates " This file has been modified or created" Make sure to back it up!

and/or a search feature for list of files changed so we can b sure to not lose any of the efforts we've created?
Then create a Select all button, then save all would be great.

Then, instead of waiting for each one, there would be an automatic line up of chosen files and an estimated time??

Also, i backed up all files , took a long time. In the instruction post it says, "Select the Category or Categories that you would like to export."
I didn't see a way to select multiple categories.

WHen i select a file, highlighted, im curious why the file name isn;t inserted into the box and we have to type it again.
 we are just backing up a file that is already named.

At least, if u can, please make it the default. We can change or add if we want.

followed instructions but i'm unclear if i uninstall this version, would the uninstall erase the backed up files because it would uninstall all LR files? which is what i had to do last upgrade
 ( i tried but it says i have a new version ),

To be sure, im still not smile I really don't want to lose many hrs of work.
I copied & pasted my backed up files into a new folder that wasn't Brillkids LR. Just back up 1. Will that do it if i have to completely un-install it?
At the moment, my backup external harddrive is full. Scary scary after all the additions pics & recorded audio of family etc.

I have just installed LR last version 2.0.625. I had LR 2.0.588.

The good news: All my playlists and my categories are still there. 
The bad news: I have again the problem with the audio files.   They don´t play until the end, they are cut in the middle. Per example: Where is your ch...

Do I need to download the curriculum files again?

From the last Report you sent us (directly from LR) it says that you still have LR 2.0.588, so that means you were unable to actually install the latest version. Please re-download the installer from your Account page (it was updated just a few days ago) and try again. I'd also like to assure you that upgrading will NOT erase any of your files, even the ones you've backed up, although I personally recommend regularly backing up files just so you have something to restore when you suddenly need to uninstall LR completely.

In cases when you need to remove LR completely and you want to save your backups, just make sure that you've saved them (or at least a copy of them) in separate location in your computer, and not inside the Little Reader folder (My Documents \ BrillKids \ Little Reader). This is because if you choose to "delete additional data" during the uninstall process, everything in your Little Reader will be deleted permanently.

Yes, you can highlight multiple words, Courses, Playlists, and Categories -- all you need to do is press and hold your SHIFT or CTRL keys while selecting items from a list. This can be done on both the Advanced Play/Edit and Import/Export screens.

Yes, I suggest that you re-download your curriculum files (we've updated the files quite recently as well). In case you still have sound playback problems, can you try using the Audio Diagnostic tool (it's in your LR's Support > Support Tools screen), or perhaps try some of our suggestions here:

Hi Kezia,

I seem to have a new problem.  I was trying to clean up my computer, so I reformatted my hard disk and downloaded the latest version of
LR 6.0.625. It doesn't have any problems starting up but when I try to import the English and Chinese curriculum, it crashes half way and I get a message asking if I want to report it to microsoft.  I even tried downloading the curriculum files again but the same thing happens. What should I do? Should I go back to the earlier version of LR?

Please disregard last message.  I started my computer this morning and decided to give it another go installing the curriculum on LR and it worked!  I honestly don't know what happened yesterday because I tried installing it several times and it just wouldn't work.  Anyway, everything's good now.

Hi, I'm having the same problem as Shen-Li. I've downloaded and installed LR and the English curriculum no problems but when I tried to import the Chinese curriculum it just keeps on crashing half way through. I didn't get any error messages or anything. Just closes down the program. I have downloaded the curriculum files again and tried on two different days. Still crashes! What do I do now?!!!

Hi Jenny,

Can you clarify if you are already using LR 2.0? It may be that you still have an older version (e.g., 1.6.XXX), and if you've re-downloaded your  Chinese Curriculum files recently (after we've updated the files into the LR 2.0 versions), you will not be able to import your content successfully.

If you are already using LR 2.0, perhaps it would help if you install the latest version available (right now it's v2.0.625). You don't need to uninstall the current LR in your computer, but if you want to, kindly make sure that you export a backup of any personalized or downloaded lessons that you have before doing this.

Yes, I have just downloaded the latest version of the LR v2.0.625. I have a created and attached a diagnostic report after I tried to import the Chinese Curriculum again this morning. It just crashes and closes the LR program all together. There is no error message so there is no screen shoots that I can capture.

I'm not sure if you are still having problems now, but in case you do, I'd like to suggest that you upgrade to the latest version. We've released the official (non-beta) LR 2.0.682 early this week, so it should have fixed the problem you've experienced in the Beta version you were previously using.

Hi..Would need your urgent help on this.  I wanted to upgrade to LR2 and I  tried downloading LR2, when it didn't work I went online and removed " Shrijan PC" ( my compuiters) from the activation list. I then tried downloading LR2, however what got downloaded was LR1.6. I downloaded winzip as well to extract the file. I tried this several times and every time faced the same problem - LR1.6 was getting downloaded instead of LR2. This happened even after i uninstalled LR 1.6. All the lessons that I had saved is gone. I have lost 4 days now and my son is getting restless. Will appreciate if someone can assist me ASAP

I had the same problem too where the status said that my license was invalid and I cannot import the curriculum to the course tab. That problems solved in two weeks of two Teamviewer sessions. I can have uninterrupted session with my child just that everytime I put the screen up (LR v2.0) I have to reactivate the program. The default status was 'missing license key'..

Can you kindly tell me where you were downloading the Little Reader installer from? Were you getting it from your Account page? If so, then I'd like to confirm that the software installer file there has been updated with the installer for LR 2.0 for quite a while already -- the filename for that one would be something like "Little_Reader_2.0_install.zip"

I suggest that you try refreshing your browser's cache and then go back to your Account page, and you should be able to download the new installer file then. Sorry to hear you are having problems again. Please try upgrading to the latest version (v 2.0.686) and activate your key again, making sure that you have temporarily disabled your firewall or anti-virus before importing your key. Note that you do not need to uninstall the LR you are currently using before opening the installer for the newer version.
