Tips on How to Personalize your Little Reader Lessons

I just created a new category "Baby's Favorite Things" in Little Reader. How do I make Little Reader incorporate it in its daily lesson? Or do I play the new category I've created in addition to the daily lesson?

I have observed my baby gets bored with the colors category but is interested with the common animals and kid's things category. She especially pays close attention if I use personal pictures of her things. We are currently at day 13 and my baby is 7 months old.

Hi m_rogue23, unfortunately you cannot add in your own categories in the actual course lessons (only for the old and current Little Reader versions, though!)

You may simply play your new category on its own -- play it before or after the day's course lesson, or play it in between the sessions if you like. If you'd like to create a set of lesson with a structure similar to the courses, you can do that by making playlists. About the Colors category, perhaps you can try interacting with your daughter a bit more enthusiastically -- you can ask her something like "can you see anything red around you?" or "what color is this..." Since she's definitely interested in seeing her own things during the lesson, maybe you can add pictures of her things that correspond with the colors in the lesson too.

I have a very basic question! I have created by own category, but I am not sure I am supposed to incorporate that into my daily lesson?!

By "incorporating" your files, do you mean including them to the curriculum lessons or just showing them during the presentation?

I personally prefer not to modify the BK curriculum lessons except for adding more pictures or sounds. I would do all my own lessons separately, it is much easier with LR v3 as I can now create my own curriculum.

I am new here and needed help when I do customize lesson for my boy, Dylan. He is one now and really enjoy LR & LM,not very interested in LMath though.

Well, my question is, can I download the mp3 file from BK software. Eg, I was doing the family catergory on English using the default family given on BK. I copy this catergory and wanted to do a Chinese version. I manage to change to chinese character but when I wanted the default mp3 files on father and mother in Mandrain I can't download them. I wanted to add them as they sound professional instead of my own voice.

Am I able to download the audio files or I can't?

Hi Kelly, the Chinese "mommy" and "daddy" recordings are included in the Little Reader Chinese curriculum. If you own either the Simplified or Traditional Chinese curriculum, then you should have the Chinese version of the "Family" category too, which does include Chinese professional recordings. You may simply add in your pictures and/or videos to the Chinese "Family" category so you don't have to create your own from scratch.

Also, in case anyone else is looking for their Little Reader's Media Library, here's a shortcut that works for all Windows OS (XP/Vista/7/8):

From Start, go to All Programs > BrillKids > Little Reader > click on "Media Library"

Note that Little Reader retrieves all pronunciation audio, pictures and videos used in your lessons from the Media Library folder. If you need to reuse or edit anything inside the Media Library folder, please make sure that you keep the original file inside the Media Library folder. Otherwise if a file used in any of your lessons is accidentally renamed or removed from the Media Library folder, this will result in a "missing media files" error when you play that lesson.
