I have a question, may be it was answered already, but I do not seem to find and answer... I am putting together categories with my own photos and prononciation. Since I do not have all the materials for the categories just yet, I am adding a few words at a time. With eventual goal to have these resources and to start showing these categories to my baby. Is there a function where we can chose which words from the category we would prefer to show at any particular time. Or is there a possibility to create playlist using SOME words from category, and then another playlist using other words from the same category. Lets say I will continue adding new words to the category called "animals", then I would like to show 5 of the words at one session and 5 at  another, is it possible to use the category as a place to collect all the related words ( animals in this case) and then create playlists, that will use some of the words from this category? If it is, how do I do it? I hope I am clear with this question..

Another questions. What if I would want to add bits of knowledge to each picture. Is it possible to add  a few bits to each picture and then later when you want to show these pictures/words to the child have an option where I chose which level or bit of knowledge I would like to show?

Re what you described in the first para, sounds absolutely possible with the playlist feature.

Playlists can be used to put together virtually anything.  You could pick a few words from different Categories, create multiple playlists picking same words from the same Categories, etc. etc.  You could update your playlist at any time after you've added new words in your Category.

If you're going to add all words from a Category, then best to add the whole Category as a Category instead of as a group of words (use the "ALL -->" button in the New/Edit Playlist dialog box).  That way, even if you add stuff to the Category, you won't have to change anything in the playlist, cos it will just play the Category in the state it exists in at that time.

To manipulate Playlists, you need to familiarize yourself with the New/Edit Playlist dialog box.  On the left, you can choose what items to show and to put into the Playlist.  If could be Categories or even other playlists.  Then the words will show in the middle window. Use the arrow keys to add the words you want into the right window, which shows what your new playlist would look like.

In the example you gave, you could do that too (eg., have a master "Animals" category), though you don't really have to, cos as I said, you could pick different words from different categories.

Re the levels of bits question, you also sounds possible, if I understand your question properly.  For example, you want to record 5 bits as picture audio to a picture, but want to keep playing the first 1 bit first, then move to 2nd bit, etc., right?

If so, then add the bits as Picture Audio files into the word.  Then turn off the "Rotate media" box, so the next time you play back the word it's not going to play the second bit.  When you're ready, edit the word and use the arrow keys to move the 2nd bit up to top position.  Problem with this is that none of the other media will be rotated either.

Thank you, KL, for detailed reply! Looks like it will work to do what I am planning to. Sounds great! yes  Will try creating my playlists now. As far as bits, I think it will work to have it the way you described ( you did understand correctly what I wanted to do), and I am thinking having different levels rotating anyways, so as long as I can have multiple picture audios it sounds good. Is it possible to have multiple written sentences to go along with these audios ( so it is not just an audio but also a written sentense of that bit)? So sometimes I would have the audio with bit playing while I am showing the picture and sometimes there will be a written sentense there? Sorry if that sounds confusing, I am just trying to figure it out myself  biggrin  blush

Right now LR is not set up to do that, unfortunately. What you're suggesting sounds quite complex, and requires more questions to be answered.

Understand. However when the time comes for more bits of knowledge then one  smile , I think there are ways to do it, like creating separate files and combining them... into play lists
