Hi all,
I'm a  new member from India.
I'm using both Little Reader and Little Math since one month.My Daughter is nine months old.
I was showing printed flash cards earlier since she was 3 months old. She did not see at those flash cards when she became 7 months.
Then I came across brillkids and purchased both your products. Also Curious to know when Little Music will get released. Very Amazing products.
I 'm  teaching my daughter  both Little Reader and Little Math.She is interested in Math ( showing her quantity lessons).
She is not at all interested in Little Reader.  But I am still showing her the lessons . i'm afraid she will lose interest ,then how will I teach her.
and also have a doubt about testing her. When shall I test her about her reading and math.
Please advice.

Hi Anupriya,

Welcome to the Forum!

You'll find that children are interested in different things and at different times.  We've heard parents who say that they didn't care much for the lessons at first, then half a year later, suddenly they wanted to see the lessons everyday.  The most important thing is to take your cue from your child - let her guide you. If she doens't enjoy it, then put it aside for now and try again later.

What I would also suggest for LR is that you can try showing her personalized lessons.  For example:

- teach her Family words like her own name (let her see her own pictures, many of them), as well as of other family members
- spend some time to customize categories like Parts of the Body where you use pictures of her own body or of your/your husband's body. That way, lessons become much more meaningful to her.
- if there are particular categories she likes (a common one being animals, esp with all the sound effects), then show those to her more.

We do not advocate testing.  What you can do is to make it more like a game (fun atmosphere!) where you can lay out some cards/words on the floor and ask her to help to pick it up for you according to the word you say.

Thanks for your advice.I'll try to create personalized lessons and check if she gets interested.
As you said, she is interested in lessons having sound effects.

My 4 month old baby is also facing the same thing! I've just downloaded the trial version of both LR and LM. He adores LM and will stare unblinkingly when i show him..However, when i play LR for him, he will fidget and start crying after a while. I thought the speed of the slideshow for LR was too slow for him, that's why he didn't enjoy LR    blush  ..Maybe i should introduce LR to him at a later stage instead.

By the way, is LR itself sufficient in teaching babies the same thing as the deluxe kit? By the time i reach home, it'll be around 8pm plus and my baby's bedtime is normally around 9. I'm concerned I may not have enough time to show him both the LM, LR as well as doing flashcards and reading the storybooks to him...

Hi poppyqueen,

Yes, try putting LR aside for a while.  Or if he prefers flash lessons (like LM), then just play back the word flash and picture flash lessons and skip the multisensory.  You can even adjust the speed the of lesson playback (click on the cogwheel Settings button next to Auto-forward on the Play Panel).

But this just shows that babies can be so different! Most babies seem to prefer the multisensory lessons much more than the flash lessons, and LR much more than LM!  You may find this the case when he's older.  Like I said, all babies are different, and are different over different periods too!

The Deluxe Kit gives you a good way to either supplement the computer-based lessons with physical flashcard learning (say in the living room or bedroom) and bedtime reading.  You don't have to do both the computer version and physical version one after another (in fact, probably best not to).  You could just alternate between the 2.  If you do that, then you have more than enough time to do LR and LM lessons.

Dear Anupriya and poppyqueen,

You should show the word flash and picture flash lessons in LR and avoid videos for sometime...then after she is interested again u can show...

Children likes very fast flash - LM is very fast, same way words and pictures are very fast... videos are not like flashcards...hence they r not able to focus i think...
