Hi,

i upgraded my LR to version 1.5.234 and downloaded the english course semester 1 (all 4 parts) into my designated folder for all downloaded LR files. Is this the right way to save files and use them?

when i double click on the sem 1 file, the files are saved in the category list and somehow i can see nothing under course only the title US semester 1, no files...
why that happens?

Also, my boy is 17 mths, are these suitable for him?

Finally we also upgraded!

We are monolingual family in a monolingual environment, and  LR is nice entertainment and resource for learning English and our child loves it.
Just one question.
We need "hands up"  and "crying clouds"!
hands up - because my child likes it most; she says "ands up"  when changing her shirt etc., and she is asking for it every time when we open LR.
the same with clouds. somehow this story has impressed her very much. when she is crying she often says that clouds also are crying.

where can we get these things?

Frukc, if you're referring to Colors of the Rainbow, then you can download it from the Little Reader Library, under English section, Stories +Nursery Rhymes category.  Or go straight to it here:

These do not come with LR and you will need points to download.  Alternatively, you can ask the owner "Khloe" to PM it to you.

I would like to thank Brillkids for making LM and LR upgrades.
 
My son is doing well with it. I already see a difference when teaching my son the math. Everything is already preset to teach a set of numbers each day and the pictures are flashed much faster. This is great because my son actually sits through his math lesson. My son had no interest before. He would look away when ever I would show him flash cards. With the original LM, he would squirm off my lap. But now the lesson is so fast, he doesn't have time to be uninterested. He sits through his lessons.

My son always enjoyed LR but I think he likes the prepared lessons also. They are quick, some action pictures, variety of picture examples with each word. I also like the different voice used to read the words and describe the pictures.

This is definitely worth the money. My son loves it and when it comes to young children, its not always easy to find to teach them and hold their attention. But I must say with this wonderful program and this web site forum, I have learned a lot.

I want to thanks Brillkids and all the caring parent for making this site so GREAT.

Thanks for that, xensun!! It's always comments like yours which encourage us to work even harder!

Tanya, I don't think you need to upgrade right now. This thread was regarding upgrading from the old v1.2.118 version.  In any event, when there are later versions, simply install it (no need to uninstall etc.), and choose the option to "upgrade".

I am a bit confuse in the NEW Little Reader, I'am now trying the 14 days free trail, is this the new version? If not, where I can download the new version?

I also brought flash card at KU but not sure how can I combine LR & LM with Chinese & Eng Flash card together?
Should I plan out as follow:

1. LR session one ( just 3 mins to finish)
2. LM 1-10 icon, number, chinese & eng word (5 mins)
3. lastly, Eng and Chinese Flash card again shown in LR  session one (5mins)?

Or
1. LR session one ( just 3 mins to finish)
2. Eng and Chinese Flash card taught in LR  session one (5mins)?
3. LM 1-10 icon, number, chinese & eng word (5 mins)

Also, how can I input Chinese word follow after the ENG  in LR?  I also want to know shold I set my playback setting in LR with just word then follow by just picture for better stimulation and learning progress. Or is it better to set "word picture word picture".....hope you undersatnd my question.

My daughter is 6 months now, today is her second day trying LR and LM (which I have no clue did I use it properly even after reading the user manue and video tutorial), how and when I will know did she learn from LR?

Hi Katherine,

The first thing you should know is that there is no 'should' or 'shouldn't' - it largely depends on your child, and may even change from day to day, month to month.  The important thing is to be flexible and do things according to what you feel is best at the given time.

You should try both versions you set out and see which one he responds better to. Maybe try changing it around at different times so it's not always the same routine.  Same applies to whether it should be word/picture or word/picture/word.

btw, an LR session will only take 3 mins to finish if you play it straight through without doing anything.  We made the multisensory sessions require manual advancing because we want you to take your time to get your child to interact, for as long as you want.  Interaction is crucial in getting your child to learn more effectively, so I would suggest you spend more time on the multisensory sections.

As for when you know your child is learning, my strongest advice to you is to not focus on results.  Focus on the bonding time between you and your child, which is what matters most.  Treat the whole process as a time of joy and fun, without feeling a need for results.  Results will come easiest that way.  Some people notice results before the first birthday, some after.  Either way, please dont' make results your focus.

Yes, they are the new version. If you purchase, you don't need to re-download the software. Just download/input the new license key.

Hi Sarah,

To import the curriculum files into your Little Reader, first please ensure that you have activated your software with your license key.  Once you have done so, kindly import your curriculum files (by double-clicking on the file) and the lessons will appear under the COURSES tab of your software.

I design, manage and research software user interfaces for a living, so when I have time I can submit a lot of feedback!!
