Anyone out there PG or trying to conceive?

As a new mom, I remember that pregnancy lasts a lo-ong time! And there's no way to imagine the way you're going to feel until it happens to you (and keeps on happening... those are some pretty dramatic changes!).

My DH and I have just moved our bed up to the alcove in our room to prevent our DD (8 months) from rolling off the bed in the middle of the night (which she has done - we had pillows on the floor, thankfully). As I scoot in and out via the foot of the bed, I'm reminded of how difficult it was to get out of bed while in the 3rd tri. I mean, I couldn't even roll over by the end - I had to use my arms to push up to sitting first.

Man, I don't miss being pregnant!

We used BabyPlus - starting quite late, at 33 weeks' gestation. My DH called it "the infernal drums"! Anyone using BabyPlus or doing some other form of baby education? Any thoughts on it?

Also, anyone used BabyPlus with one of their babies but not with another? Notice any difference?

I'm in my first trimester, and will probably use Baby Plus thanks to your write-up of it!  My first child was not a beneficiary of Baby Plus (nor any other prenatal stimulation, so I will let you know if there is a noticeaable difference!

I'm also looking for good music CDs to play to my baby during pregnancy.

Any advice?

Any music I played for my baby while she was in the womb, she loves now... even music in foreign languages!! I would also make sure you play music that you like listening to so you can have fun listening together after he/she is born.

I used Baby plus, but I only have one child. I'm not too convinced that it did anything for my son as it advertises, but I think I will use it again. I also played classical baby music to him-- especially Mozart. Here is a link to download 2 Mozart cds. One is called Wombsong. I believe it is made for your unborn baby's listening pleasure.

nhockaday, thanks for the link to Wombsong!

tkud8, you can find out about BabyPlus and buy it online - here is the website: http://babyplus.com/

Of course, it's impossible to tell if it really works, as you can't compare the baby you have with the one you would've had, had you not used BabyPlus!!

I'd be interested to hear from any parents who used the system with one baby and not with another though...

I visited the babyplus website a few months back and I do believe it will make a calm baby. However I did not buy it because it only uses heart beat. I think we can do a little more like mom doing meditations daily and listening to classical music in her pregnancy. I am going to do that to my baby in the womb now!

It's actually more than a heartbeat. It's the changing rhythm that's supposed to make the difference, b/c the baby learns to distinguish b/t the mother's heartbeat (which up to this point is the only rhythm he/she hears) and this new rhythm that is similar, but different. I used BabyPlus in addition to playing classical music when I was pregnant!

well thank you! It works in lessons (which vary in length depending on when you start). Each lesson is the "drum beat" faster than the last lesson. I started pretty early, so I played each lesson for about a week, twice a day. The website gives a lot of insight on how it works (better than I can explain!) Still play classical music and practice meditation though! I played classical music when I was driving and also when I went to bed.

Yes, for sure, do them all! smile

We did Baby Plus (twice a day), lots of music (mainly classical but not only), played 'kick-feedback' games, 'massage', went singing karaoke every week, and speaking to her A LOT (and reading Dr. Seuss's "Baby Oh Baby!" especially - highly recommended!).

Yeah, I massaged, talked and read to Gabriel in utero too. I read a variety of books to him (including my college texts while I was studying). I had a nightly routine where I'd play babyplus, read a story and play the classical music at certain times in the evening and night before I went to bed. I always tried to play babyplus at the same times every day and night. And normally it would be a couple of hours later when I was settling down in bed that I would read and then play the music as I fell asleep.

I think anything you do like that will make a difference.

Hi I am new to the group just joined yesterday , going through the archive trying to read old posts .
This is my first post .
I did use babyplus with my second baby Tina now 2 years old , and I am now 22 weeks pregnant with my third baby and i have been using babyplus from week 17 .
i didn't know about babyplus when my first baby was born , don't think it even existed , she is 14 years old now . and it is difficult to compare her with her sister because she is hurt and was the reason for me to know about Doman , my daughter was on their intensive therapy program since she was nine months old , and the success we had with their intellectual program is mind blowing , ability to do instant math , speed reading . unfortunetly we didn't have that same success with their physical program but i won't go into details here .
back to babyplus , Tina continue to amaze everybody with her abilities , not sure if it is because of using babyplus , or the benefit she got from years of experience i had in the field of early child development .
i read testimonials on babyplus site and all parents observed the same like me with their babies .
talking about birth as age 0 neurologically visually , auditory , ...and early reflexes that babies grow out of them ,
i felt like Tina was at a more advanced level at birth , listening to the variations in babyplus helped develop her sensory pathways . She didn't really startle a lot like newborn babies do , immediately after she was born , she was lying on her stomach , and was able to lift her head and turn  it in our direction where i was standing talking to her grandma , staring at us with eyes wide open .
she said her first words very early at around four months , and her vocabulary kept growing , she could speak in sentences by 14 months , .....
everybody around us commented how different she looks from other newborn babies , that they never saw a baby like her .
could it be  babyplus ??

I was lucky that i didn't have to pay for it . Taking care of a hurt child wasn't easy for us , and i really have to carefully choose how to spend money  . there are so many things advertised and at the end you don't know what to buy and it can get really expensive .
i belong to another parenting group and a parent on that group kindly offered to land me his babyplus , it flew all the way from canada , to where i live in Gambia . than when i finished  from it , i sent it to another mum in Germany , back to canada to its original owner .
Now when i got pregnant again I asked for it praying that i will be available and would have been very disappointed if i didn't get it , feeling it might be a missed opportuinity for my unborn baby , so part of me really believe it did make a difference .

sorry for the long reply , and looking forward to get to know all of you

love
