I saw Glenn Doman also have CD-ROMS in:
http://www.gentlerevolution.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=G&Category_Code=CDR

So is it any good?

How come no one talks about Glenn Doman CD-ROMS especially it seems he is the father of flashcards which everyone is copying and selling their own DVDs/FlashCards.

You mean no one uses Glenn Doman CD-ROMS ?

I own three volumes of the CD Roms.  I think they are very good, especially since you can choose to teach in 5 different languages.  I would own them all, except they are a little pricey at $30 each.  They are more like BOI without the facts.  The have 15 categories per disk with 10 words per category.  You can show the set with the picture, with the word, or both.  They have things like fish, plants, dogs, cats, money, dots, etc...

BOI is for Bits of Intelligence, which is what Doman calls them in his book, "How to Give Your Baby Encyclopedic Knowledge".  It is basically a picture of something and 10 facts about the object.

I got all 10 of them as a gift with my second kid smile I never knew they are so expensive!
I don't know if they helped but he is a brainy little guy dry
None of my kids watched the skeleton parts or chemistry elements, so I had to skip"boring" stuff...
I am not sure how to use 5 languages if I am not planning to teach those to my kids... they switch them around for fun sometimes.

Hi. I own all 10 Cd-roms and they are great! The voice-overs are lively and clear, just the way they should be pronounced. My only problem is it won't play in full-screen. The pictures are a little small in my opinion especially if you have an average sized monitor.

Hi,Nadia0801
You can bring the resolution of your screen down to make pictures bigger. In the right down corner (if your Start button is down left) there is a button for that. The pictures will get a bit pixelated, but still fine to watch.  smile

Thanks for the advice Nikolett :-) I have tried that before though but it doesn't help. I know it should but it doesn't..I'm using Windows Vista. The program uses about only one-half of the screen. I'll try to revert to XP and see :-)

I found if I change resolution before sticking the CD in, it helps. I use XP.

My conclusion, if you have LR Lite and can invest time in your own picture/word sets, or LR Home and access the library, you don't need Doman's CDs. smile

i agree... While dont get me wrong I love Doman... I found the CD Roms over priced... as well as behind in some of the graphics...  for being leaders in this area I find them a little dated in material presentation and in quality in regards to their technology.

Hello Everyone,  I happen to be a Doman fan!!  - I like the Doman cd-rooms very much, my favorite still is the Math cd-room that allow you not only to customise all the equations according to your kid level but you can play those in 5 languages; also you can program all your material for up to 3 kids in the same cd-room independently and keep track of progress.

In regards the bits cd-rooms I like the quality of the pictures, the clarity of the pronounciation,  there are no mistakes in these cd-rooms; you can totally trust the content plus to have the same material in 5 languages for $30 is not expensive at all; generally speaking if you go to any other source for bits you will find that you need to buy a cd or dvd for english and french, or english and Spanish, or English and japanese or english and Italian etc... even if each one of them were priced at $10 you still save money with Doman cd-rooms as they have 5 languages in all the cd-rooms, and again reliability of content is extremely important for me and with those materials I can rest assure there are not mistakes; this product and Wink to learn are so far among the few languages products I have used and verified that have no mistakes; (belive me I have a library of dvds and cd-rooms) Even Muzzy which is among the most expensive tools for languages (whole set of bilingual dvds is over $600) has mistakes in the chinese language  for example they use the word school of fish when refering to school of children (in chinese there are 2 different characters for this) my chinese tutor (PhD in education) cought 3 mistakes in the first 2 dvds!!!  so... quality as well as reliability are extremely important for me. The french book also has mistakes in the list of the parts of the body.

Doman, as well stated above is the father of Flash cards and his products remain rated among the best - yes I wish they will upgrade the format but you need to remember they are a non for profit organization and as long as the data is accurate they dont get too concern with the "make up" of their products

I you are only interested in English bits  Little reader has a lot of materials and you can verify them before presenting to your baby but if you want to teach multiple languages and dont know another languaje then it gets very tricky to verify the accuracy of the materials.  Here in LR I have problems with the chinese presentations because many times over the materials are not in chinese Mandarin but they are being presented on other dialects that are not the most recognized in china or here in the US.. so big trouble for us if we dont catch those data points before teaching our kids ... one more time reliability is a must... With Doman you wont have to worry about it.

Hope this helps !!

Gloria

ps: I do not have any fiancial interest with the Doman organization - LOL
