EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Toddler not interested in words and math

Hello Ashah3 ! , Would like mention here that my little one had pretty similar experience with little reader, he loves them when I start..say pictures etc , and when the session move on to phonics , words beginning with 'xx' , he wanted to take a quick break (by taking his car and say vrooooom ! ) , and then he gets back to the rest of the reader session with accurate interest. These all happened when he was say 18-24mnth . I tried to give a break to the phonics session for say couple of weeks and then showed them , he seems to be fine and interested then on. May be they wanna a little break to phonics session in that early phase. Reg. Little math, when my little one has such distractions / he doesn't want to watch, I make the session very short then on, say out of 4 lessons, I do one lesson in morning, and next lesson by evening. Just my thought...as I wanted to continue on little math to nurture its benefits too Happy Learning ! cheerymom

The BrillKids Forum / Forum Feedback + Questions / Re: Which program to purchase?

Hi nmwales,
On the English version of the little reader program, you could choose to use British/ American English option , the one which I have for my little one is UK English Little Reader. When you order, please ensure to choose the curriculum you wish to have (i.e UK English / USA English) I believe yes, you could use your reader between siblings ...all you need to do is track each of the completed lessons separately (if they learn in different speed) . Also, I have installed my little reader in my personnel computer as well as in my Tab (via brillkids app), just to be flexi with my son's need as we travel a lot.
Hope this help ! hurray to early learning ! , start now ...its never late :-) Thank you ! Cheerymom.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Puzzles for creativity - opinion on Grimm's Puzzle please

Dear brillkids busy moms !!! , Would like to seek your opinion on your experience with Grimm's Puzzle Toys please . "Grimm's Spiel und Holz Design" - Recently I landed on Grimm's puzzles land ! , yes, at the first cut I assumed that it was like any other wooden Montessori puzzle but just that it had brilliant hued colors. But them I took a deep dive in getting their advantage and now realize that 1.The woods, colors and oils used are safe for kids and it kindles the young builders with pattern blocks/magical shapes and rainbow colors. 2.The open ended method of playing ...which I believe would boosts creativity (I love this approach) Though I gathered satisfying reasons to buy these Grimm's puzzles, I'm little hesitant due to the very obvious reason that these are expensive for me . That being said, would like to check with the brillkids moms out here ! Would you please share your experience with Grimm's puzzles, pros n cons? , Would like to seek your opinion which would help me justify if I should invest in these or may be suggest me an alternative if had any that I might need to check-out ! As always Thanks much for your guidance, Appreciate your reply :-) eg, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_dp_s_web_165793011?ie=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=Grimm%27s+Spiel+%26+Holz&node=165793011Have a beautiful day, Happy learning ! cheery mom

Thanks much for the info babyAnda ! , You are very true, since its really expensive, I would like to justify myself on the product's worth and usage before I order them. I shall check out the blogs u've mentioned too. The biggest plus is ..it sounds like the product could be used up until 12. Hope I'm able to shift them with me incase I shift my home to another country ! (coz as working mom, my job demands to move places... ) Thanks again to you Appreciate other reviews too

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Seeking Review on ' Froebel Gifts' / Gabe Gift /Spielgaben GIFT

Hello to the lovely moms of BrillKids ! , Recently I came across the Froebel Educational Philosophy to nurture the brain development of childhood. To be specific; I just started to learn on Froebel’s Kindergarten Curriculum methods, as one of the important part of playful learning experiences -> they created creative materials named as ‘Gifts’. Would like to reach out to those moms, to know your experience with these Gabe Gifts play products (Spielgaben products). Kindly share your thoughts on 1.How its working wonders with your little ones.... 2. Is it more like Montessori methods? 3. Do you think these play materials are suitable for kids age 2-3? , I would like to listen to the experience before I decide on buying those items or not (coz it seems expensive for me, however if it’s worthy enough, then I shall go for it!) Seeking your opinion please Happy Learning! Cheerymom

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Do you allow your kids to watch TV

TV for Kids - That's a debatable ! , Studies say 30mins of TV time is okay for toddlers... however "TV and a lone kid" is a NO-NO to me. Make sure to be with your kiddo and choose them specifically on what to be seen for that TV time. Watch out for Ads ...ensure what is being watched is child friendly (there may be handful of fruitful programs) and doesn't drive them in any unhealthy way. Happy Learning ! Cheerymom

that was a mind opening article on children's creativity ! , Agree that at times boredom paves way for imagination and independent thinking , I encourage for free play activities and not too tight schedule for kiddos. Afterall, many creative ideas or the urge to seek profound knowledge arise from the seed dropped by boredom
