I am having a really hard time with how to do this I would love to do This with my kids but I DONT SPEAK FRENCH I am born and raised in an english only home and dont want my kids to have the same disadvantage. I am trying to teach them french and they are very good at sign language and I actually find it very helpful for translation of ideas as it helps them be more hands on and if they understand one thing in english and sign i can sign it when i say it in french and it seems to help comprehension. If anyone has helpful hinst on how to learn and teach a language at the same time PLEASE let me know!! thanks my basic idea at this point is speak everything that I can in french only to my kids and they are doing really well with that but I wish that I had more conversational skills for talking to them.

I have 4 small kids All under 4 and we homeschool them now. there is nothing wrong with starting early. we focus mostly on languages right now. I am teaching them french and sign language and we do little reader every day. we do math that is practical and they are having lots of fun. we read every book in sight and go to the library, park and museum often. there is a lot of things that I would recommend but I will have to look at my list I am not really into books on how to teach my kids I just go with the thought that God gave them to us to teach and mold and prepare and I go out and find things that I think will help me make them into good people. Hope that you have great luck in your search into teaching your children.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: how many do you spend for toys and materials

this is really the only thing i spend money on i buy all our clothes at thrift stores and craigslist is all our toys i even buy most of my food on clearance... but when it comes to the kids education i will pay full price. it is just frustrating how long it takes me to be able to buy something for them. i am homeschooling them (4 under 4) and i have a lot of aspirations for teaching them and buy a lot of french things most other things we make at home but the french i am at a loss for because i am trying to learn it too and teach them, they learn so much faster then me it is amazing. i only have 20 a month to spend on education so if i want a 100 program that takes me 6 months to acquire. by then sometimes they dont need it anymore. anyway enough ranting from me.

you need a crying smiley... i was all excited that it would only be 65$ for LM i have LR already but I see now that you cant combine the 25%off with the mothersday thing and I just cant afford not to... so sad. THANKS for everything and this is great stuff but my husband just got a pay cut due to the economy and we are expecting baby number 4 in 3 weeks with no insurence so money is very tight i had a hard enough time finding the money for LM at 65 not going to happen at 80. guess it will wait.

I am sure that she will be fine. do your best and your angels can fill in where we fail. and you are actually doing something really helpfull when you cant remember the words you are teaching your baby improv skills! so look on the bright side and keep up the great work, at young ages it is much more about your intent and not your expertise.

I would actually say please dont do it. I am desperatly trying to teach my children to be trilingual english french and sign language But I only speak english I know that I cant teach them well enough in french but I am trying because that is the language that they get the least exposure to and I want them to have something I dont a chance to communicate in another language. I am actually using sign as a bridge language so they can literally see that "duck" and "Canard" is the same thing. It will be hardest for your child to learn the language that they are least exposed to so PLEASE if you are surrounded by english do not try to teach your children english they will learn that all by their own, PLEASE teach them the language that you want them to learn. and visa versa of course if you live in germany teach them in english not german if you can. I think you get the idea. JUST do the best you can your kids will figure it out and thank you for it I am sure!!
