Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: How soon after did your baby start walking after learning to crawl?

my son crawled when he was 6 months old, his crawling is very funny, he does not used his knees to crawl, his feet flat on the floor and his bottom is up,he crawls really fast almost like running even in this position then pull himself up while holding into furnitures at 7th month.he was 9 months when the endless cruising begun, but dit not walk on his own yet till its almost his 1st bday, i think it was a week just before his bday!but he still crawls as well even if his walking skills is good already.i think he resort into crwaling when he intends to be move faster as i said his crawling way is almost like running. when his on his crwaling position, i try to encourage him to be on his feet again. walking will be on the child's own's phase just like real talking!this is one milestone iam so looking forward now!

BEYOND EARLY LEARNING (for older years) / General Discussions - After Early Learning / Re: Teaching Your Child About Strangers
|
on: May 12, 2009, 07:19:33 AM

this is one of my greatest fear! my son tends to be very friendly and he smiles to almost everybody!if the person in the lift with us is not smilling at him, he tends to catch his attention.he does not choose whom to go with which is why i am really very scared, i cant leave him unattended with the fear that someone might just pick him up. how do we really educate our children about strangers?telling them that not to go with anyone unless its ok from mom n dad is still not enough, what else can we do?

its always up to your choice depending on your lifestyle as mentioned by nhockaday. i wanted to bfed my baby as much as possible but because i had to resumed work when he was only 3months old, the schedule of feeding became impossible for both of us. plus the fact that my milk did not come soon, so from day 1 he had to feed on formula. even when i had my milk coming, it was not flowing enough had eaten things which makes the milk flow but still no luck, my milk has became just the supplement when my son needs more. by 5months he is totally on formula. the s-26 formula claims to be as close as the mother's milk!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: My child seems bored, what can I do?

don't be too rigid with the lessons, the important thing is both of u are enjoying. learning should be fun for both of u. go with the child's mood, i know that u might have a timetable which u want to follow but it will not be effective if the child is no longer enjoying the lessons. besides our child is too youg to be stress so much and we should not be as well. take it easy...

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: menstral cycle is it back on tract?
|
on: March 09, 2009, 10:27:06 PM

My cycles returned 6 weeks after giving birth, then i didn't have another period for 6 weeks. Once Sophia was 3 months old my supply dropped off and i stopped breast feeding. After that my cycle returned to every 28-30 days and his relatively heavy.
I have thought about going on the pill but decided against it like you. If your periods are not regular ask your ob-gyn for a hormone check which cn be done by taking some blood. If the results come back in the normal range keep persisiting with your dr and don't give up until the cause is found. Sometimes being over weight or under weight can cause irregular periods in some women. Also check if you have any stresses in your life that can be causing irregular periods.
Do you know if you are ovulating? You can check by taking your temp every day for a month or you can buy stuff from the chemist that can measure when you are ovulating as well. If you are ovulating that is a good sign it shows that the hormones are working. How are you feeling physically and emotionally? How you are feeling are also good indicators as to where your hormones are at? Keep looking and persisting with your dr. You are the champion of your body!!!!
good for you that your period has resume regularity immediately!i have done a transvaginal scan already, results are fine and did a hormone count as well, i know i am ovulating as well. with regards to stress, well i don't have any major stress as such which may cause for the irregularity of my cycle, but thanks for asking anyways, i guess, it should come to its regular phase soon, i hope so!

I know what you mean! I am still nursing my almost 7 month old I my mom never really nursed so she thought I was pregnant when she found out I wasn't having my regular "visits" from my "Aunt Flow". I hated not knowing when I was going to start! Talk about reliving middle school! But I just got mine Saturday. I looked something up on wikipedia for you. "Return of menstruation following childbirth varies widely among individuals. The closer a woman's behavior is to the Seven Standards of ecological breastfeeding, the later (on average) her cycles will return. Average return of menses for women following all seven criteria is 14 months after childbirth, with some reports being as soon as 2 months while others are as late as 42 months." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactational_amenorrheathanks for the link, i guess i just have to wait another 2 months before it becomes regular again!(hopefully)but not 42 months! karma to u!
