EARLY LEARNING / Prenatal Education / Early Movement

Prenatal movement in the first trimester, and then the patterns of movement that form in the second trimester, are the expression of the developing baby's nervous system. This primary neurological unfolding is nourished and enhanced by parental awareness, dialogue and subtle touch on the mother's body that communicates to the baby. The entire family can participate in this encouragement. The knowledge of how to do this is inherent in each of us. It is part of the magnificent design of the human being. Excellent education is now available to stimulate and sustain this natural wisdom. Awakening to, trusting and acting upon our innate human connection is the joy of parenthood.
Prenatal movement is preparation for neonatal activity. It is also warm-up for the marathon of labor and delivery. It is designed to result in the baby's thrilling victory of entry into the arms of a world already sensed and perceived.
Movement patterns in prenates are replicated in neonates, demonstrating the continuity of neural behavior. The human fetus sleeps, breathes moves, eliminates, and feels, sees, cries, initiates and responds. He or she is acutely sensitive, as a result of constantly expanding neurological capacities, to the surrounding environment and its vicissitudes.
The prenate communicates its experiences the only way it can: through motility. Eye movement, heart-rate, respiration, gestures, and elimination patterns speak volumes about the individual prenatal world. The patterns that these expressions make, when attended to, add texture to our understanding of the quality of prenatal life. They also give us our first insights into who the unique being is within its mother's body.
Regularity of movement can be a sign of health whereas deceleration or lack of movement can signal distress or concern. Certain fetal movements may convey discomfort. By noticing movements or their absence, the family can come to know its new arrival and begin, well before birth, to integrate the baby into the family. Prenatal consciousness is neurologically organized to be present, alert and receptive. The unborn baby delights in recognition.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: Let your child choose their own books

Yes alextyper, some kids will be able to pick out gems, many need guidance. There are ways to prompt kids to pick out suitable books without taking over. Ask them which subjects they like, which previous books they enjoyed, who their heroes are, or which hobbies they enjoy. You also can toss in a few books you like and offer to read them aloud.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Benefits of early childhood education?

Choosing the right preschool for your little one is the most important decision in your child's life. Various factors should be carefully evaluated so as to make a decision that proves to be beneficial for your child.
Trustworthiness: Compile a list of schools near you and choose the best suitable brand for your child. Survey well in advance about the school, the facilities available etc. that will contribute in development of your little one. Therefore, check out preschools that are well established and have a good reputation in the city.
Distance from home: Keeping in view the travel time, pollution on the roads, safety and stress on the child, the playschool should be near to your home. Therefore, always check the distance of the playschool from your home.
Duration and Timing of the School: Preschools are generally for a half day or a few hours. Opt for a school with least school hours as a short amount of time works best for the preschooler.
Background of the Management: Management and the staff members are the backbone of any institute. So you should look for a playschool lead by a team of well-educated, experienced professionals with the right aptitude and love for children as they have the experience of handling a variety of children.
Outdoor space: Children love to play and enjoy. Besides this, games and activities help in the physical development of the children. Therefore, being a parent you must ensure that the playschool you are considering must have a big, well spacious outdoor ground or an area with safe equipment's for the child to have lots of fun. The preschool must also have lots of indoor games and activities to help the child learn through puzzles, blocks etc.
Loving, caring and enthusiastic teachers: A school is like the second home of a child and teachers are the care takers. Therefore, the teachers should not only be educated and knowledgeable, but also have loving, caring and motherly feelings. These qualities attract the children and it becomes easy for both the teacher and child to bond with each other.
Facilities and Activities: Besides the big outdoor area and activities, other facilities such as helpers to take care of the child, medical facilities and security etc. should also be considered. Also find out about the celebrations at preschools including the cultural functions, sports days etc.
Comfortable: The most significant point while selecting a play school for your child is that you, as a parent and your little one must be happy and comfortable with the environment of the school. For this, just trust your instincts and ask yourself "Would I feel comfortable leaving my child here or would I be happy here if I were a child?" And I am sure; you will get your answer!
Interact with alumni parents: Talk with the parents who have already enrolled their child on their overall satisfaction with the preschool. Also ask them what their likes are and dislikes about the school? Are their children happy and learning their? etc.

Yes millinw, when kids are quizzed on books they have read later or asked to write about them, they can easily recall the order of events that took place, and write more effectively. By allowing children to choose what they read and can become absorbed in, it can also improve more social skills such as empathy. If they are able to read books about characters they can care about, they can apply it to real life situations (for example, a book about the plight of a child during a war).

The two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and add it to a glass of warm water or room temperature water works very well! It taste like crap but if your hurting from gas like I was you’ll try anything! I only used about 4 to 6 ounces of room temperature water. Still it was almost instant. Within a couple of minutes I was starting to feel comfort and I started burping!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Acceleration Program - Advantages and Disadvantages
|
on: March 18, 2017, 04:01:40 PM
|
There are many schools that offer acceleration programs for parents, children, but before you decide this could be something you would like for your child, here are some advantages and disadvantages you want to consider.
Advantages
- If your child is so far more advance than the other kids in the class then you should consider an acceleration class for them. An example is Mozart! Let's say he took conventional music lessons in your school you would see how an acceleration class would be good for everybody. Mozart was in a teach your baby math and reading program and look how successful he was. - Your child can pace themselves and they won't get bored as much. - He or she would be able to interact with people of different ages. Your child will love this, especially if they are in a college. An experience like this will make them very happy.
Disadvantages
- Your child may like things the way they are and not want to be in an accelerated program. - They know they will still reach their goals without an accelerated program. - They want to go to a university later on in life, because they don't like the idea of being around older people.

For families of children with autism the relationship between the family, school, and community is critical. Parents who are blessed with a child with autism must refrain from self-blame and need to advocate for their child. If you suspect that your child has autism it is helpful to seek medical attention and professional advice as early intervention is highly recommended.

I ate sushi almost daily. I also had salads with feta cheese very almost daily. I drank Redbull a few times. I had FroYo at least once a week. My LO came out fine but I'd never encourage others to do the same because everyone is different and it could take a small contamination for things to go horribly wrong for someone else's pregnancy/life.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / 3 Basic Principles of Deeply Effective Phonics Teaching
|
on: March 10, 2017, 01:10:47 PM
|
Children need to develop a knowledge of the letters, the sounds represented by the letters, and the connection between sounds created by combining the letters where words are formed. This is an essential part of mastering reading, and enabling children to become independent readers. By learning phonics and phonemic awareness, children gain the ability to pronounce new words, develop clear articulation, improve spelling, and develop self confidence.
When it comes to teaching your children to read, it must include three basic principles:
1) Reading for the child, whether it's a word, sentence, or story, must appeal to your child's interests.
2) Never pressure or force your child into reading, turning it into a negative "event" in their life. It should be a fun, enjoyable, and rewarding experience. This will take ample amounts of patience on the part of the parents, and some creativity.
3) Teaching your child to read must begin with the mastery of the phonemes - the individual sounds which makeup the words.
The basic process of teaching phonics and phonemic awareness to children includes teaching them the letters and letter sounds; then you teach the child to combine (or blend) various letter sounds together to form words; which is then followed by reading sentences and simple stories. This is a logical progression for children to learn reading, where they develop accuracy in decoding words and pronouncing words. This method of teaching also helps the child to spell correctly. Gradually, the different elements of phonics are combined to produce new words, and leads to the discovery of new words by the child using this process which becomes an "automatic reflex".

Babies this age spend more time awake and alert and become more curious about their parents and about objects that they see. They also start getting physically stronger and better able to coordinate movements. Encourage the learning process by talking to your little one, responding to his or her vocal expressions, and providing colorful age-appropriate toys.
