I had done ISP a year back and we too were required to make a vision chart. I was expecting then, so I had to list top 10-12 qualities that I wanted in my child. I had to compare them with the idol as well. For eg:(Name of child) is HAPPY like Krishna, is CREATIVE like grandmother etc.
I had made a chart with Rainbow and clouds in it. I had listed the qualities on each cloud and each rainbow colour.

I had attended a beginners course on Spanish long back. After that to brush up my skills I had signed up at livemocha.com which was very helpful. They sent me the free course by email in parts. The practice sessions were also very good....and you can always save the lesson links for future.

I agree with KL. Both type of cards will serve their own purpose...combining them will be effective.
I used a lot of handmade books containing word and picture (on a different page) for my daughter thru 6 to 14 months.
Now she's hooked to big picture story books.

Yes...I used my own handwritting to make these flashcards...
and I wrote in small seperate letters...not cursive writting...
my baby'd recognise these easily and did not have much difficulty in recognising similar fonts elsewhere...

Yes..I used all sizes of flashcards...mostly 12 inches by 4 inches cards...with big red fonts.

I play Indian Classical music esp vocal classical music to my 16 month old daughter. I have been doing this since her birth. Earlier I used to play it whenever she was awake. Now that she moves around a lot, I play it when she's busy with something and sitting in one place and also during her sleep time.

I think playing classical music has had a very positive effect on my daughter. I dont know if its becoz of classical music but she's never given me sleepless nights...right from start! And she's never been cranky. Now that she's started talking, she even tries to chant some prayers and mantras.

Overall I think Indian Classical Music is the best thing u can give yr child!

the materials are very good...high quality...the content is vast and in detail (which we can easily source from google) but definately not worth the amt....
and to keep up with their exact curriculum (like first teaching from book and then using the cd, then revision....its like u opening a school in yr house!) sounded little impractical to me....

Very true...its very expensive...I dont know how she quoted such a huge amount...the lady who came to our house said it was for Rs 6000....which I found to be "not worth the money". They mainly focus on homeschooling, which is why their products are so expensive....
Instead we can buy a lot of reading books and educational toys/materials with the same amount....

I finally had the presentation by TOTAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ppl.
A lady had come to my place with lots of materials like books, cds, dvds etc
I'd say its an Advanced Doman method. Every bit that we present to the child goes into details and more details.
They have classified the learning age-wise and hence there is a curriculum to be followed each year.

Frankly I was not very impressed with the program. If I give all the detailed knowledge to my child at home, what is she going to learn new at school? Whats the point in sending my child to school if she already knows everything?

The cost of the program was abt INR 6000 i.e. $130.

I had made several flash cards when I was pregnant. I had started flashing these cards to my daughter from day 1. It really didnt matter whether she understood or comprehended these words...repeatedly flashing and saying aloud that word was more important. My cards were BIG BLACK regular everyday words in catogories like Animals, Fruits, BodyParts, In The House, Flowers, Members of the House, etc. Each catogory had 10 words.
I used to flash these cards very quickly.

Music was also an important part in our schedule, especially Indian Classical Vocal and Instrumental. We had this playing in our room almost all the time.

Now my daughter is 14 months and she recognises a lot of words and numbers that were flashed earlier to her.
