1  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Activity to Improve Children English Pronounciation on: March 14, 2019, 03:23:48 AM
When learning a language like English, it is important to learn the correct pronunciation right away, not to correct your pronunciation at some point in the future. Tongue-twisters is a fun way to improve pronunciation and fluency. They are a type of diction or articulation exercise, which helps you learn to speak clearly. They help in memorizing a new word. Its because when your kids do a thing repeatedly it gets imprinted in their brain and then its no longer new.

Tips to use tongue twisters for developing speech
   (1) Start reciting the tongue twisters at a slow pace and ensure it is able to be recited clearly
   (2) The next step would be to know the tongue twister by heart.
   (3) Repeat the tongue twister as fast as possible until it is mastered and able to be recited three times in a row without stumbling.
   (4) When one tongue twister is mastered, try another.

We use tongue twisters to improve the child’s constant and vowel sounds. Examples of ‘p’ tongue twisters include: Peter Piper, Pheasant plucker. Examples of ‘s’ tongue twisters include: Seventy seven, Swan Swam.

Learn a few tongue twisters and repeat them several times each day and you will see a noticeable improvement. Get tongue twisting: https://learning.covoji.com/english/practice-pronunciation-in-english-with-tongue-twisters/

2  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Encyclopedic Knowledge / Is the tongue a muscle? on: March 05, 2019, 10:30:37 AM
The tongue  tongue  is an organ, or body part, in the mouth. It is made up of a group of muscles.  These muscles perform the different jobs of the tongue. The front part of the tongue is very flexible and can move around a lot, working with the teeth to create different types of words. This part also helps you eat by helping to move food around your mouth while you chew. The muscles in the back of your tongue help you make certain sounds, like the letters "k" and hard "g" (like in the word "go").  Learn more: https://learning.covoji.com/curious-world/is-the-tongue-a-muscle/

3  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Simple Way to Learn Adjectives on: February 27, 2019, 06:49:53 AM
Adjectives are the words that describe the world. They are used to describe nouns and give more information about things. We use adjectives on our everyday conversation to convey information or add interest to what we’re talking about.  They can change the tone of a sentence or even the meaning of it and therefore is one of the most fundamental building blocks in good communication.

The first thing to do when teaching your kids adjectives is to choose one concept to work on. Start with simple concept such as color or shapes. For example, color: red, blue, yellow (bag) ; sizes: small, medium, big (chair)...etc. Find out more adjectives concept at https://learning.covoji.com/english/all-about-adjectives/ .

The second idea for kids to learn adjective is pick up a child friendly book and flip through the pages with your child. Have your child to circle the adjectives words in the book.

6  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / How to improve children memory power? on: February 12, 2019, 04:05:24 AM
Having a great memory can help your child do better in learning, perform well in school, and achieve better grades. Memory retention is a complicated process. We may need to use several methods in combination to enhance working memory. Here are some simple techniques that help you to train your children for better memory power.

(1) Encouraging your child to ask questions helps ensure he or she is developing a deeper comprehension of the topic. Make learning more engaging for your child by having discussions about different topics, asking your child what he or she thinks.

(2) Rhymes, songs and music are the the best sources of verbal exercises. Your child can use their voice to train their brain to remember and recall information.

(3) Connect all senses together. Color, shades, tastes, touch, language and  imagination play an important role to  improve short-term memory in children. Take a multi-sensory approach to learning by using sight, touch, and sound—read aloud, have a conversation or discussion.

(4) Give your child’s brain a nutritional boost. Fatty fish like salmon are an excellent source of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, both essential for brain growth and function. Egg are well-known as a great protein source. Berries and colorful veggies like tomatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, spinach keep brain cells strong and healthy.

(5) Playing games to retain memory. Games are the best tools to enhance memory power in children. Through story telling, children will be able to remember important points of the story in memory and later recall it very quickly. Playing 【Where Are You??】 game will help to develop your kids’ memorizing skill, concentration and recognition abilities. Easy spelling games such as a crossword puzzle, a word jumble, or memory are fun. for example, list the definitions of words and have you son fill in the correct word in a crossword. this helps spelling and definitions. jumbles definitely help spelling. and for memory games, make 2 flash cards of each of the words. turn them upside down and have him find them by matching. when he gets a pair, have him say the definition. or vice verse.

Learning the alphabet is one of the most important steps in a child’s development, as it lays the groundwork for learning to read and write. Teaching the alphabet begins with making kids excited about words and letters. By reading, singing, and playing games with a child, you can make them curious about the alphabet and stoke their desire to learn more.

Write out the alphabet (uppercase) on a large sheet of paper. At least once a day, go through the alphabet with your child. Teach the sounds by pointing and saying the letter’s name and sound child – "‘A’ says ‘aaaa’ .

14  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Unlock Kids' Ability To Read on: January 11, 2019, 05:31:40 AM
Reading is a complex process that requires many different strategies and skills. Being able to recognize sight words is an important skill for young children. Teach your child learn new words by first showing them the word and then reading it out loud. Next, ask them to say the letters in the word. Check out the "an" sounds words at https://learning.covoji.com/english/sight-words-an-words/

Secondly, you can help your kids to remember the troublesome words.  You can come up with a rhyme that includes the word, or something that can associates with that word. Also, remembering a sight word is easier if they connect it to a picture.
