EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Re: If you did, how did you decide to homeschool?

Dear Elizabeth, thank you very much for that link. It was really a surprise for me to know that homeschooling is legal in Ukraine. Actually now everything is changing so fast here that we are not able to keep track of all the changes. I also hope that in several years the situation will change for all homeschooling families here in Ukraine and that there will be more homeschooling families. Another problem here is that we don't really have many internet resources in Ukrainian... But that's another topic already Anyway, I am very glad to hear such a great news. Thanks for your attention.

Tatianna, thank you very much for your detailed summary on homeschooling. I am really interested in this topic, though homeschooling is not an option here in Ukraine I would probably homeschool my child because I am not satisfied with the way our schools do it. Unfortunately my daughter will have to go to school in 5 years...

I don't know if all of you had the same experience, but after becoming a parent, it seems everyone wants to impart wisdom on you - like their way is best, sometimes a little intrusively Oh, yes, I am sick and tired of such advisers. Some people ask me if I still breastfeed my daughter and after my reply they give me pieces of advice on how to wean her. > Then I just tell them that I'll nurse my child as long as it is necessary for her. I think it is up to her to decide when it is enough. I just hope that I'll have milk for her. I had C-section, that's why I hadn't milk for a week, so now when I have it I think it is a crime to deprive my daughter of it. It is as if you immunize your child every day. Couple of days ago I got really sick with flu. I was afraid that Bozhena would get sick as well. But thanks God and breastfeeding she is fine. Moral: Long live breastfeeding mummies and breastfed babies!

My mother used to give us hot milk with honey and butter for cough. But I am not sure if you can give this for a seven-month old baby. Do you give honey to your son? I think that honey is allergen. I know that for older children it works perfectly well. Hope your son will get better soon.

I'd like to express my thanks to the Little Reader creators. You've made my life so much easier! I used to spend a lot of time making cards by hands. Now with Little Reader it is just like fun. My little daughter loves this great program. Every time I say "Reading time" she grabs my hand and runs to the computer giggling. And when the lesson is over she gets really upset. I have to invent something really exciting to entice her from the computer. Thanks to Forum community I've learned a lot about early education and teaching methods. I do believe that all children are geniuses. Thank you for keeping up this confidence.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: Native Reading

Hello, girls. Thank you for your advice. It seems to me that after the first "shock" Bozhena is getting used to my pointing. Sometimes she seems to be even interesting in what I am doing to her books. Sometimes she still push my finger away (especially when there is a frog in it. She likes pictures of frogs ) But I do agree, I should try books with pictures and words on different pages. (but don't you think it won't be "natural reading" anymore?). The problem is that it is next to impossible to buy such books here, I'll have to make them. But with my drawing skills Bozhena won't like to see the pictures anymore.
