Hi ameritkd, Thanks for the error log! Will check it out and get back to you soon. In the meantime, can you try uninstalling Little Reader and then install the latest version (v 1.6.341) -- perhaps this could help. To uninstall Little Reader: - From your START Menu, open your Control Panel
- Go to "Add and Remove Programs"
- Search for "BrillKids Little Reader" and click on the Remove button
- In the InstallShield wizard that opens, choose to "Remove Little Reader" and follow the prompts to finish uninstalling LR
After doing this, kindly download the installer for the latest version of Little Reader by going to your Account Management page (go to the "Software Systems" tab). Install LR and see if you can get it to finally open. Let me know how this works for you P.S. If LR still doesn't work, can you please create a Diagnostic Report and attach it to your reply? For instructions on how to create a Report, please refer to the Tech Support board image: http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader-bug-reports/

Hello Johnny, If I'm not mistaken, you're the one who recently sent in some diagnostic reports by replying to the last Customer Support email we sent you. Thanks for the reports -- we're currently looking into your problem and will let you know once we find a solution for you. In the meantime, let us know how uninstalling and reinstalling LM works for you (as per KL's suggestion above). P.S. When reinstalling Little Math, kindly make sure you get the latest version (we have just uploaded version 1.6.370 a few moments ago) -- hopefully upgrading to the new version would help. We also have additional questions for you: - Do you experience similar problems with other applications (Little Reader, or other software)? - Do you have any Anti-virus or Internet Security installed in your computer? If you do, have you updated it or scanned your computer lately?

The BrillKids Forum / Forum Feedback + Questions / Re: How to view the poll statistics results

... OK, I edit it and now it looks correct but i am not sure if the results are from this poll because only 4 responded and there are 18 entries in the poll results. Maybe many just vote and make no comments. ...
Yep, it is possible that the other voters just didn't post a comment, but it's more likely that those votes were meant for the "wrong poll question" that was originally posted in your thread -- to remedy this I've just reset all the vote counts back to 0 so you can just ask everyone to re-vote. From searching the entire forum it seems that there aren't that many polls about teaching foreign languages (there are LOTS of discussions, though), so probably your poll is actually the first one. About your other question, it is indeed tricky to label which language is "foreign" since this definitely depends on what each individual person's native language is (or at least the one they've been using as a somewhat "default language"). In general, though, I think most people would just count any non-english language as "foreign" to make things simple.

Hi again, This is really a mysterious error - we tried checking other polls and testing new ones but it seems that this problem only appeared in your poll. Unfortunately we cannot retrieve your original poll, so can you kindly try making another one (or maybe you could edit the one that's currently displayed in your poll thread)? We're very sorry for this inconvenience P.S. Regarding the "View" link, note that once you have already voted you won't be able to go back to the voting page (the one with buttons) anymore, and so whenever you visit the poll thread you'll automatically see the poll results. Otherwise if you haven't voted yet, you will be able to view the current poll results (you will have the "View" link) and then go back to the voting page later to finally cast your vote.

As you can see on the figure i attach, i only have 2 options, lock and edit. I do not have Viewing as seen on your image. Is it supposed to be seen for any member or only the creator. Maybe they are crossed.
The options shown have nothing to do with the question and the ones i included where about age I think they where more or less: 1 0-6 month 2 6-12 month 3 12-18 month 4 19-24 month 5 up to 3 years 6 up to 4 years 7 up to 5 years 8 older than 5 yrs
Now that you mentioned it, I've realized that the poll in your thread is totally unrelated to your poll topic It seems you have discovered a Forum poll bug -- we're looking into this now and will fix it as soon as possible. I'll reply here again once we get the poll feature running properly. Thank you very much for reporting this error! Here's some karma for you

Sorry, I might have misunderstood your question. Were you trying to view which poll option a specific person voted for? Because if that's what you were looking for, unfortunately you can't view that as each person's vote is simply tallied anonymously. The only results you may view would be the total tally for each poll option -- which is what will happen when you click on the "View Results" link. Anyway I've attached a screen shot showing this link just in case. About your first question, do you mean the poll options that are currently displayed in your thread are actually not what you've originally written (when you were creating your poll)? What should be your real poll options, then? I hope you don't mind clarifying

BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Re: Creating New Category from existing category with "save as"
|
on: July 08, 2010, 04:20:34 AM

Hello Ayesha, Yes, you will need to use the Import function to do this (provided that you have previously exported the specific category/ies that you want to duplicate). To make a duplicate your category: - Import the category you want to make a copy of (either by double-clicking on your .cat file or by clicking on the "Import" button and locating your .cat file)
- In the "Importing..." window that pops up, click on the "Show Advanced Options" link -- some conflict resolution options will then appear right below this link
- For the "Course/Playlist/Category name conflict" and "Word file name conflict" items, choose "Rename"
- For the "Media file name conflict" item, choose your preferred option, or leave it as is
- Click on the YES button to start importing your category
NOTE: Notice that the "Automatically resolve naming conflicts" Import option is turned on (or checked) by default -- this way, when you choose to "Rename" conflicting category and word file names, Little Reader will automatically rename each file as "BK - Food 2(1)," "bk-food-fish(1)," "bk-food-pasta(1)," and so on. You can then change these file names later on (via the Playback screen). Otherwise if you want to rename the files while importing them back to LR, just un-check the "Automatically resolve naming conflicts" option. You will then be prompted to type in the new file name for each conflicting category and word file name that comes up. I hope this helps!

Downloads + Collaborations Discussions / Foreign Language Free Downloads / Re: How to access downloads in a language
|
on: July 07, 2010, 07:56:53 AM

Hi 2010BEBES, Can you kindly clarify which Free Download you are trying to access? As you might have noticed we've recently changed our Forum's main menu interface, and we've also updated the sub-menus for each menu item. For the Free Downloads, you may try placing (or hovering) your cursor over the "Free Downloads" menu item to view its corresponding sub-menu. For your reference, here's a screenshot: If you were looking for flash cards in foreign languages, just click on "Foreign Language Flash Cards" -- you will be taken to a page where you can select the language you want. Click on the link for the language you're looking for to view a list of available downloads for that language. You may do the same steps for finding eBooks and activity sheets in foreign languages. If you're not sure which type of download to get yet, you may simply click on "Free Downloads" to get a quick overview of everything that's currently available in our Free Downloads library. I hope this answers your question

Hi kitnga, It seems that you have not yet downloaded and imported the rest of your Little Reader lessons. Remember that aside from using your purchased license key, you need to get the rest of your curriculum too (if not, you'll surely end up with just 9 days' worth of lessons). To get your Little Reader content files, simply go to this page: http://www.brillkids.com/user/#software-systems/little-reader/indexGo to "STEP 3: CONTENT DOWNLOAD" and download your Semester 1 and Semester 2 content files (note that downloading large files may take a while). After downloading, double-click on the file and Little Reader will open automatically to import your lessons. Kindly make sure that you open your Semester 1 content file first. I hope this helps! Kindly let me know if you have any problems while importing your lesson content (or you can just post a new topic at the Little Reader Tech Support Board: http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader-bug-reports/ )

BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Re: Upgrading LR

Oh, sorry about the confusion In the "Select Components" screen in the ffdshow setup window, by default the "ffdshow DirectShow filter" and "VFW interface" items should be selected. You can just leave those items as is and proceed to the next screens. Next, in the "Select Additional Tasks" screen you will see a long list of items. Just make sure that from the leftmost column of boxes, the "Decode the following video formats with ffdshow" and "Decode the following audio formats with ffdshow" items are both checked/selected (no need to do anything with the rest of the boxes in this screen). Lastly, in the "Speaker Setup" screen, simply select the one that's similar to your computer's speaker settings -- to check your computer's speaker settings: - From your Start Menu, open your Control Panel (toggle the Category View) - Go to "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices" - Click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" to open the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" window Click "Install" in the next screen to install the codec, and when it's done you may go back to installing LR I hope this finally answers your question, haha

Hello Ayesha, Yes, we've included a codec pack installer in the software installer for the latest versions of LR (also for LM). Once you open the Little Reader InstallShield wizard, kindly choose to install the FFDSHOW codec when prompted initially, and then in the next screen that opens you will find a "Cancel" button. Click this button to skip the codec installation step so you can proceed to installing LR.
