 mucha suerte
2  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: Should babys start reading different lenguages at the same time? on: January 11, 2010, 09:45:28 PM
Hi, I have read it is better to start reading the most difficult of the two languages first, in this case English, and then Spanish. The reason is that the English language has different pronunciations for the same spelling, and Spanish is much easier because they the spelling fits the pronunciation. Anyway, I´m also Spanish and I´m teaching my son both at the same time.
I hope this helps you
Saludos

Hola Joha,

Espero haberte ayudado
Saludos y que vaya bien

I have a DVD whose title is "Niño de Papel" (Paper boy should be the translation into English). It is very short, no more than half an hour or even less than that,  but it has many interesting things babies and toddlers can easily and in a funny way learn. It includes:the five vowels (the  a, e, i, o, u and words starting with them accompanied by image), animals in motion, the colors in different motion pictures , the instruments, and daily object motion images with their name. I highly recommend it, my son is now 2 years old and he loves it.

Enhorabuena Saray ,
Espero ver  a tu hija leyendo

6  Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Best Age for School on: February 09, 2009, 07:28:06 PM
I suppose the best age for school depends on each child, however if you mean when a child is ready to actively socialise and interact with other children of the same age I think you should wait until around the third year of age. I have read that this is the time when they start to really play with other children. Before this, they tend to play alone.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/gGF3iC0o_1s&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/gGF3iC0o_1s&rel=1</a>

http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids-songs.htm
http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids-stories.htm

9  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: Gogo's Adventure with English videos on: February 04, 2009, 05:58:40 PM
Do you know of other children series to learn English? Could you please advise me other cartoon series, apart from Gogos? My son used to love Gogo's adventures very much ( I admit I love them too) and I played them everyday for him but now I suppose he is tired of always watching the same cartoons and he doesn't want them any more.
IIn any case, thank you Pupisek for all your wonderful links. You have been of great help for me to teach my son English on the internet.
10  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: confused about two languages on: February 04, 2009, 05:39:25 PM
Can you speak both English and Spanish? If you can, try to speak to your baby in the language he or she is less exposed to. If you're Spanish ,for example, speak as much English as possible  to your baby. I'm teaching my baby English and Spanish. As we are Spanish, I talk to him in English everyday ( or at least I try to do it every day for a few hours). I don't know if I'm doing it right because he is now 2 and he speaks more Spanish than English even though he understands the two languages very well, so to answer your question I'm not sure if the two languages are being equally learned in our case. In my opinion, I think we get more proficient in the language we get more exposures to and it is always our native language.
Another thing that works for me apart from talking is to show him you tube videos, there are plenty of videos with nursery rhymes, children songs, cartoons, bits of intelligence,...
I hope this help you. If you have doubts don't hesitate to  ask me for more help.
11  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: when is the best time of day on: February 04, 2009, 05:18:01 PM
I suppose it depends on each child, I don't think there is a good or a bad time to learn, but try when your little one is calmer. Mine learns better after his nap. He is more relaxed at this moment, so I sit him on my lap and teach him.
I hope this helps you. Good luck
12  BrillKids Software / Little Math - General Discussion / Re: Welcome to the Little Math Beta! on: February 04, 2009, 04:47:48 PM
Thank you for Little Math Beta.
It has been a long time to see it launched, but it looks wonderful. My Congrats to you all.
I hope my son will like it too ( he is now on his nap)
13  Local Support Groups / Español / Re: Cds of songs and nursery rhymes in Spanish on: January 14, 2009, 06:02:02 PM
Hi,
I'm Spanish and my toddler enjoys "Cantajuegos". There are four Cantajuegos Cds.  It is based on nursery rhymes and a short story in the end. I haven't bought it. You can download the four cds from the internet. Look if this site helps http://buscalox.com/get.php?q=cantajuegos&cx=002307759720643155437%3Ayg7rlynxifi&cof=FORID%3A11#1173 and if you just want to check if you like the videos they are on the you tube: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/9n7mnv88TcI&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/9n7mnv88TcI&rel=1</a>.
Another cd that my toddler likes is "Erase una vez el circo", it is also based on songs and a short christmas story in the end. Look for some videos on the you tube : <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/WXBvvdt6kEs&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/WXBvvdt6kEs&rel=1</a>

I hope this helps
14  Parents' Lounge / Coffee Corner - General Chat / Re: What makes you feel great!!! on: January 01, 2009, 05:04:15 PM
I feel great when my baby sleeps and eats well. I can't help feeling in a bad mood when he doesn't. I also feel great when I ask my 23 month  baby how much he loves me, and he answers me "so much" and kisses me  Wink
15  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: learning location on: December 09, 2008, 04:35:00 PM
I have a playroom for my toddler, but it is not a good place for our flash cards sessions, as he doesn't  pay me any attention, he just want to play with his toys here. I take him normally to the sitting room and sit him on a chair, where he can not "go away" , here he sits quietly, and this is what works for us.
