EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Anyone like to share daily routine / structure for EL?
|

Just wondering if anyone would like to share their daily routine or structure for EL activities. At the moment DD (15 months) does Some WTL Chinese DVD in the morning followed by some Mandarin Nursery Rhymes, a session each of LR, LM and LMS before her lunchtime nap, a second session of LR and LM after dinner and some Spanish nursery rhymes or Sparkabilities in the evening. Everything is very screen based and I'd love to have a bit more hands on stuff so I was wondering what other mums do and how they fit it all in!!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: Signing resources

Theres a girl called Patty Shukla on YouTube who does free signing videos - we have watched about ten of them. If you just search for her name on the YouTube website something should come up. The videos are signs sung to music and she covers quite a few signs within each song. It might be a bit too basic if you have been signing for a while already but I thought I would mention it in case it helps. She also does general nursery rhyme videos and foreign language videos too so there might be something of use there!

BrillKids Software / Little Musician - General Discussion / What is in curriculum later?
|

We have been doing the Little Musician trial for the last 2 weeks and my little girl (who is 9 months old) has really been enjoying it. I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the full program and I was wondering is the trial content the full extent of the curriculum or are there more sections available later on (second semester etc). Is the program good for just general introduction to music or does it help them specifically learn to read music (notes, key signatures etc). I don't have much in the way of musical experience but I know that when I did try to learn piano I really struggled to learn the music theory so I would love to give my daughter a head start in that department. Also I remember hearing in a testimonial that people can personalise stuff within the program, what sort of things would that be? Thanks in advance!!

We have been watching some of the French BookBox videos on their YouTube channel. The stories are really good with lovely illustrations. I thought it would complement the LR French Curriculum nicely as we have just started the trial. I'm looking forward to checking out the website too, I thought it was really good how the words were on the screen 'karaoke style' too.

EARLY LEARNING / Parents of Children with Special Needs / Re: When did you start

I started Little Reader when my daughter turned 9 months and we are planning on starting Little Math at 10 months. Before that we have been watching the Your Baby Can Read DVDs (since about 3 months ocassionally but regularly since about 6 months) and we also used some Sight Word Flashcard apps on my phone.

Hi, I am using Little Reader with my 9 month old daughter and she is absolutely loving it! We have been using the trials of Little Math and Little Musician too and she seems to really enjoy them so I have just ordered Little Math and am hoping to order Little Musician as soon as my bank balance allows ! I could seriously spend a fortune on this stuff! It is great to find a community of like minded people who believe in early education as most people I've told about it seem to think it is a bit odd but I believe that giving my daughter the best start in education can only be a good thing and she does really enjoy all of the lessons. She's started pointing to the laptop and signing for more whenever I stop now!
