Dear DadDude,
Thanks. You made it so simple. I got myself lost finding how to make my Flashcards and it is so simple. You just need a Globe or a Map and play with it. There is no need of Flashcards with the picture of a map. What is needed is a note book with research data of each country and a map or a globe. So simple.

Hi DadDude,
I have a baby who is 1 month and 10 days and a kid who is 4 years old. My first baby I did try to do Doman method but once I have learned about it I got so overwelmed that could not follow through. Now BrillKids created a lesson plan with all the material ready for you to start the reading program which made things much much easier. It is hard to start a reading program when you have not too much free time and knowlage in how to do it. I was reading your post and I followed your links and watch your films. I was very impressed with the work you did with your kid. I was wondering how you worked the map skill and where you got the material for teaching. Can you share that with us too?
Thanks, Regards, Adriane

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: The phonics debate

Dear DadDude,
It may sound weird to ask you some simple question such as:
What is systematic, intensive, explicit phonics?
Is there any Simple Phonetic Program that I could buy and follow the book?
I live in Brasil and went to an International School since kindergarden. I learned first to read in english and later in portuguese. I do speak native english, great pronunciation but many times I lack some vocabulary knowlege because I live in Brasil and not in the United States. That is why I am making the above simple question. I am doing so because you sound to be an expert.
I haven´t taught my 3 years old to read yet because I was confused in how to start whole word x phonetic. I was scared of messing up with my little girl brain. Also I was confused if I should start with english or portuguese. I do speak in english with her but not a daily bases as I do portuguese. At first I thought doing English because is not her native language. But then I lost myself in so many questions of right or wrong and basically I lost precious time. I am to skeptical, which it can be good at some points but most of the time I loose the timing.
Thanks Adriane P.S. my husband speaks chinese to her, daily bases. It is his native language.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Encyclopedic Knowledge / Re: Encyclopedic Knowledge program-Domanmom need help

HI Tatianna, DomanMom and Heyblue41, I have a GREAT link to do the POI. I was buying the DVD´s from Discovery Channel and from the DVD´s I would print out some Bits and prepare the BOI all at once. BUT, I learned about this site www.cosmeo.com which has every type of educational films prepared or bought by the Discovery Channel. If you are an american you can sign up for a one month free trial and than pay a montly fee of 10USD. If you are from another country you have to find a friend in American who would do that for you. This site was my best investment. Also I would like to make myself available to prepare the POI programs with you guys. Tatiana, I was so happy to see how well you organized the subjects and open it up by sub-subjects. I have been struggling in getting myself organized and create a well organized and consistent program. I have been crying with that everyday and everyday I find myself overwhelmed. I go to bed thinking about my kid and I struggle every night knowing that my kid is getting old for the program. I know that my kid is young, 2,5 years old, but we all know that everyday important and vital for the brain connections. I think that everyone of us went through the same process. Finally DomanMom inspired me in starting the math program. I am happy now and less understress. I can sleep better because I know I have a group of parents whom are working together to prepare the program. Also I have a place to make my questions and have them answered. Anyway please check www.cosmeo.com Regards, Adriane

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Encyclopedic Knowledge / Re: question about flash cards and encyclopedic knowledge

HI Nikita,
I face the same problem like you. I live in Brasil and it is very expensive to buy things abroad and I have to wait an eternety to receive them due to customs burocracy. Also money is short and I spend too much time thinking and stuyding a product before buying it. I wish I lived in the United States to have the chance to go to a library, bookshop or even Target. Due to this I did my reading bits and now I am in the process of preparing the reading books and I just bought a BAMBOO pad so that I can paint the books from the site Reading A-Z. Thanks God we have the Internet or other wise I would not be able to do the Domman program with my baby Larissa.
Anyway, it was great to read about the DVD´s that you bought. Now that you did the evaluation of each product I will be able to spend in what really deserves the investment.
Adriane.

Hi Elizabeth, Congratulation! You deserve to be a moderator. When I read 5 of your posts I decided to do a search by name and read all of the other posts. You add so much information to this Forum. Thanks for dedicating your time with us. I have learn a lot from you. At the moment I am more a reader than a writer due to so many questions I have in mind. When I feel more confident I will show up. Adriane

UAUUUU!!!!! Thanks for all your help!!! I am still learning to move through the forum and only now I read all these new post. What a warm hug. Cris Vai ser legal conhecer essa comunidade do Orkut. Vc mora em São Paulo? Talvez eu possa ajudar em alguma coisa. Tenho alguma experiencia meu problema esta sendo a organização do material e a rotina de trabalho. Scott, I also bought My Baby Can Read DVD together with books and flashcard but I was dissapointed. It is cute but it is not a Glenn Doman method. BUT my baby likes to watch it. Little Reader is perfect for Glenn Doman. Remember that you have to exercise you baby too. For the knowlage to sink in you have to do the both. Thanks for the support. Nohayo, I am terrible in getting organized but I am working on both issues. Translating the Brill Kids .cat into portugues Brazil and finding a way to best organize words Little Reader. I found my way in translating yesturday night but I am lost in getting organized. Do you have any idea about organization in LR? Niki, I am going to ask you for your help in how to organize the words and categories in LR. Is there a best practice in it? I do have some stories to share such as natural water birth, breathfeeding with only on breast, allergic baby to soy and cow milk and some chinese recepies for post birth so that I could recover from the pregnancy period. I am married to a chinese man and he cooked for me during 40 days with ingredients that he imported from Taiwan. He really took good care of me. Thanks everyone. Adriane

Hi Scott, Since I learned about right brain method I started getting very excited. Latter I questioned so many things about the method but doing more and more reseach I learned that Doman in not the only person who speaks about it. There are other people involved in this process. Once I was confident I got involved in doing the bits but found myself lost in putting the program together. I wanted to fly to USA to ask for help at the Institute but money is short and I could not make it. Until now I feel fustrated because I still don´t have the program on daily basis with my baby that is already 2years and 6 months old. This thing is exciting but very fustrating when you don´t get things going and you see your baby getting old. Thanks God KM started this forum. Also he created a tool in which we can share file with others and a forum which will help communication. I am still lost trying to find my way in the software. I still don´t know how to organize things and translated the files with out having to start from scratch. But don´t be nervous like me because your baby is young and you will have time and the right tool to do it. Thanks to Little Reader.
