Hi all The day is still ahead, but I just want to add that on any day at any time we all deserve a gentle pat for what we do for the family Here is my favorite quote that sums up; Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, comrades and friends - but only one mother in the whole world. - Kate Douglas Wiggin Kudos to all the moms and God answer all your prayers, anjie

Bonjour...
I am not French, but thats the first word I learnt...Welcome to the forum. I hope you would find lots of interesting stuff in the downloads section. How old are your kids? Have you tried any early learning programs? I am trying to introduce French to my kid...I have started off with basic words. I find that it is not pronounced the way its written!! That makes me wonder how it is taught to kids in France? Can you make any suggestion on how we should go with it? What to introduce first and how to proceed? Hope to hear more from you..
Good luck in teaching your kids.
Warm wishes, anjie

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Brillkids team: Can you upload more action words with that little baby?
|

Hi Congrats and Thank you for doing a great job!!!!!My son loves action words category and that's the first words he read...he absolutely loves to copy the little baby's actions, who is so adorable. Can you upload more action words with this guy? I am sure a lot of parents here will have the same experience. How about making a DVD with this little baby or make him your mascot? Now that's just a suggestion....I have seen kids learning from this little baby more than anything else...So I sincerely hope you would take this into consideration so that all the kids get to see him more. Warm wishes, anjie

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: How I taught my toddler to read
|
on: May 01, 2009, 05:44:46 PM

Hi Your post has been very heartwarming!!! I am trying to teach my kid to read..and your experiences has added a new dimension to the whole idea. I started late with the reading and whenever i take a book to read, he will snatch it in between and have a look at it and close it, saying reading is over!!!
Well, I often wonder howI can get him sit through one book? He has followed the pointing of fingers from left to right and at times takes a book and pretends to read, says words which are not comprehensible. Also he is a late talker, but has been catching up off late. Can you make any suggestions how to go with his reading? Which books I should choose?
Thanks in advance anjie

BrillKids Software / HOW TOs and FAQs / Are there any problem solving facility in LM?
|
on: May 01, 2009, 04:47:55 PM

Hi... This enquiry has been raised by jaluitgirl in a thread started by me on Doman math schedule.
This is what she suggested "It would be great if at the end of an equation a split screen with 2 different answers could come up and then after a second or two highlight the right answer."
I think its a brilliant suggestion and would like to know, just like her, that if such a facility is available in LM, if so how do we do it.

Hi ketty, Its more like start addition when you retire the card 20. In this case it was retired on day 16, so start addition on day 17. Also try to keep the numbers in the equation and solution within 20. As you progress retiring cards, you have equations with that. Hope this helps,

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Will anybody recommend French movie DVD watchable by kids?
|
on: April 25, 2009, 05:19:51 PM

Hi I totally agree with the fact that if we listen to the language, we can pick it up. When I was a kid, I picked up the language Hindi, watching Hindi channels, eventhough nobody spoke it in the household. Likewise my kid has picked this language watching movie DVD's (we have done away with TV cable connection). So can anyone recommend any good and funny French movie DVD watchable by toddlers? Or is it better to go for Educational DVD's like Little Pim or brainy baby French?

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: What tips would you like to share with first-time parents?

Hi I would like share this book "What to Expect the First Year" by Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg, and Sandee Hathaway, B.S.N. This is one of the most comprehensive book on parenting babies till 12 months that I have read. It also has sections that deals with common concerns, milestones, becoming a father, first aid, newborn care, scheduled doctor visits and so on. It really helped us to sail through the first year smoothly. Hope this helps, anjie
