Hello from Tune Toddlers, We have just released our new Scale Cards and Activity Keyboard. Tune Toddlers Scale Cards and Keyboard make it easy to learn Tune Toddlers scales. As this is a new product line for us, we invite Brillkids members to try these products for FREE! We would like to get feedback on how these Scale Cards work for your baby. Traditional music theory is very difficult to learn (at least I think so). These Scale Cards will let you teach your baby the relative steps for each scale and arpeggio on your Tune Toddlers CD's. Our Tune Toddler Keyboard is easy to understand and applies to all instruments. Example: After your child has listened to Tune Toddlers for a while, take out the "Blues Scale Card" and share with your child the steps to build the scale. The blues scale is built using Root (the starting note ("C" on your CD) 3 steps, 2 steps, 1 step, 1 step, 3 steps, 2 steps. The Blues Scale Card shows this progression at the bottom of the card. Root-3-2-1-1-3-2 If you have a musical instrument at home, you can share the steps on your instrument. If not, simply sing along with your baby to the CD while showing the steps on the keyboard according to the Scale Card. Then move up the scale to 'C#" and repeat. After you have mastered the Blues Scale, you can move on to the other Scale Cards and practice building these scales as you did with the Blues Scale. Let me know if you would like the download link and I will send it to you! [email protected]Life in Tune...It's an Ear Thing!

Dear Brillkids members,
I just wanted to take a moment to address some of the previous questions regarding the CD's sounding similar in nature. Consider that music can be taught as a primary language in the early years. The longer that a child is exposed to a language (over many years ideally) the more fluent the child will become and the more beneficial the exposure will be. For a language to be absorbed as a primary language, the exposure must be frequent and long term. Like all early learning programs, consistency is key and we recommend playing the CD's for your child at least three times per week. Long term exposure results in long term benefits, and for that reason we recommend starting as early as possible and continuing to use the program throughout the toddler years.
Because the program is designed to be used over the long term and played very frequently, there are three CD's offered in the set to help maintain a child's interest. All of the CD's share the same core lessons in a variety of musical styles. The same core lessons offered on every CD is a strategic aspect of the ear training, with the lessons being consistently reinforced while offering the child multiple musical perspectives. These subtle variations will help maintain a child's interest as their ears detect the differences in sound and rhythm. For these reasons and more, these CD's were developed because it is more beneficial to rotate all 3 than to simply play one CD repeatedly over a long period of time, although any exposure is of course better than none. To an untrained ear the purpose may not be evident, but to the ear of a young child in a rapid phase of brain development that can detect the slightest differences, the Cd's will be heard as different 'accents' of the same language. Another way to think of it is as an auditory "Spot the Difference" picture that kids love so much. I recommend rotating all three CD's to best stimulate and "tune" the ears, as well as keep the child engaged in the series.
Sincerely,
Scott

Some of the neurons in the newborn's brain are genetically hardwired at birth to control vital functions, like breathing and controlling body temperature, trillions and trillions of others "are just waiting to be hooked up and played like orchestra instruments in a complex musical composition. Parents, educators, the babies' early experiences - all these factors will determine which neurons connect and which connections will eventually wither and die from lack of use.

Hello everyone, Tune Toddlers is honored to be a part of the Brillkids family. There is nothing more important than early childhood development. Tune Toddlers CD's offer a vital and unique learning experience for children. Music is traditionally taught as a secondary language. Tune Toddlers is designed to teach music as a primary language. Your baby can learn music as naturally as they learn other communication skills. It's a fun and easy way to nurture your child's musical ear. Tune Toddlers is offered in three musical styles: Classical (Baby Maestro), Rock (Baby Rocker), and Urban (Baby D.J.) The lessons are the same on each, so pick the music style you like best. Some will find additional benefits when using all three. Baby Maestro is wonderful during quiet time, while Baby Rocker and Baby D.J. are more upbeat. Children also like the subtle differences between the CD's. It's like learning the alphabet inside the class room one day, and outside in the park the next. The same lesson feels different and thus revitalizes the child’s interest in the lesson. “Children naturally love to learn. Kids would rather learn than eat; kids would rather learn than play. In fact, kids think learning is play.” ~Glenn Doman-Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential I am please to answer any and all questions related to Tune Toddlers. EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Teaching your child music, what has been your experience?

Tune Toddlers Q &A Hello to all. There have been many questions about Tune Toddlers CD's recently. I am honored to share my music program with such caring and devoted parents. I created Tune Toddlers for my 3 children to help them develop relative pitch skills. I dedicated a great portion of my life studying voice from the best instructors in the world. The one thing they each had in common were these beautiful scales and arpeggios. I knew how much they helped me develop a deeper understanding of the language of music, and it seemed so evident to me that they would help my children as well. I initially recorded the scales in my studio and produced a CD for my baby daughter. As she grew older, it became apparent that she possessed a natural understanding of music. I went back to the studio and created Baby Maestro for my next two children. This time I added drum beats and symphonic music. I felt that I was finished. Just play Baby Maestro and my children would develop good relative pitch skills. Still, there was something Maestro David Kyle told me many years ago that I couldn't get out of my mind. He said that ALL babies are born with perfect pitch, but lose it if they do not hear music before the age of 4. I began researching the scientific communities for studies on this subject. I found one study after another confirming what the Maestro told me some 30 years ago. "All babies are born with perfect pitch, but will lose it if they do not use it! " Music is a language. Language is learned during the first few years of life. At about 2 1/2 years of age, our brain begins to discard information we don't use. Think of it like a computer cleaning it's hard drive. Absolute pitch skills take up a lot of brain power. Western language is not a tonal language, thus absolute pitch is not required to communicate. This is why only 1 in 10,000 westerners retain this skill. Many eastern languages are tonal by nature. In Mandarin Chinese, the word Ma has four different meanings depending on the pitch used when speaking it. Perfect pitch is common place in China. Scientific studies now say there is a window of time, for a child between 1 month and 6 years old when you are able to teach them to have: perfect pitch, language, and a perfect sense of time. This is why I expanded Tune Toddlers from Baby Maestro to include Baby Rocker and Baby D.J. I wanted to share different beats and rhythms too. It is also important for the parents to like the CD's so they will play them for their child. Any one of the Tune Toddler CD's will provide the full range of music ear training a baby needs to retain perfect pitch, develop relative pitch, and instill a perfect sense of time. I found that my children liked to dance around when listening to Baby D.J., Baby Rocker is a high energy CD that is great for play time. Baby Maestro is fantastic for nap time. The most important thing is that the musical information in complete, consistent, accurate, and engaging. Babies love to learn! Tune Toddlers is educational and fun for babies.
