Hello all, My younger one was born in December 2008 too, same as yours Bebita. My elder one is a girl too and she is 3 year 3 month now! For my elder one, flash card works better before she turns 2 but after that, I was too busy taking care of the second one, so I have stopped! Can't go back ! But for the second one, I had a chance to do some math dot and she seems ok with it! But now I am back to work, so need to "squeeze" time to show her but very rare! Hopefully the new deluxe set will help more! I found out that she likes to touch things so sometimes LR doesn't work that well.

Hello all, My first girl was born in Dec 2006 and she is now 3 year and 3 month old. When she is in good mood, she is a really good girl, but when she was in bad mood, it's not going to be an easy day for both of us!! Heard that 4 is a magic number so just hope she will get better and better!

Thanks for all your supports!
I guess I just have to slow down and do it one at a time! I can't ask my in-law for helps because they know neither english nor any computer knowledge! :|
I will try to do it before the little one goes to bed. Hopefully it's still a good time to show her!!
Thanks all

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Don't know what can I do
|

I know many full time working moms manage to let their babies follow the flash card, LR and LM. But for me, I really don't know how. My old one is 37-month and my younger one is almost 14-month. I have started flash card for my old one when she was 5 or 6 month and I can see that she knows few words after months! I did not really insist on showing her because when she got older, she just ran away when I was flashing! It's getting harder and harder for her to sit still for just a second! And for math, I think I did up to 30 and she just showed no interests at all! So when she was 18 month, I started introducing YBCR, Tweedlewink and she seems ok with it! And later on I add ST and BST. And now, she knows quite a few words and she will read it out when she sees those words! I think she learnt most from ST. Now I guess it's too late for her to read LR or LM, right? Plus, I just don't know what's the best time to show her! She now goes to preschool in the morning and then stay at school for after school day care. Since I am working full time, I go pick her up after my work and when we get home, it's about 6pm! And we usually play for a while then dinner, then signing time if permitted, then story time and bedtime. Just hard to find time to show LR or LM. And the thing is I am wondering if it's just too late for her to pick up again!! She is going to Montessori preschool. For my younger one, I basically have no time to show her in the morning as I am rushing to take care of the older one then go to work. When I get home, as I said, it's about 6pm. My in-law is kind enough to feed her meal first so when we have dinner, she will have some rice and then milk. Usually she will go to bed at around 730pm. I was thinking, maybe I can show her LR before bedtime but by that time, she is already very tired. Is it still good time to show? I did start flash card when she was 2 month old and math spot too! She showed interests but since the old one always came in and distracted, I stopped doing it for a while and then completely stopped! Sometimes I feel like I should have done more but on the other hand, I am very tired already!! Just want to give up but at the same time, I want to give them more opportunity. And sometimes, I ask myself, what's the purpose of doing all these to my babies.... i meant, do I want them to be genius? Well, I don't think that's what I want..... but I know we shouldn't feel pressure by doing all these, right? Really don't know how and what else I can do....

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Understanding the Little Reader Curriculum
|

Hi all,
I have a question. For Day 001 lesson under Session 1 (Word Flash), there are 18 words? Is it too much to show for the first time? I thought we usually start with 5 words only? I have tried it once yesterday with my 6.5-month old baby and the first few words are ok. She showed interests and kicked her arms and legs but after maybe 10 words, she then looked around. Does the curriculum intend to show 18 words? Or we can choose only to show 5 words?
And should we show all A, B, C for session 1 at a time?
Thanks Tina

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Questions on Little Math Curriculum vs. Doman
|
on: June 30, 2009, 06:54:19 AM
|
Hi all,
My elder daughter is exactly 2.5 year old. I have been showing red dots to her but she has somehow lost her interests.
Now I would like to know if I should use LM to start from 1 up to 100 using her favorite icon (i.e. bear) instead of red dots? Or should I start with the curriculum?
Thanks

Thanks for sharing qisdhi mom. There are many readings nowadays!! And as other said, I am not trying to raise a genius, just that I would like to provide them with all opportunities! Sometimes I think if I were given all these educational opportunities when I was baby, I may end up becoming a genius! :p

BrillKids Software / Little Math - General Discussion / Questions on Little Math Curriculum (Semester 1)
|
on: June 27, 2009, 03:47:15 AM

Hi all,
I have used the real flash card for my 6.5 month old baby girl for a while. I tried to do it daily but sometimes I can't because I have to take care of my elder baby (2.5 yr old). I have shown up to 14 dots only.
Now with the new LM, I have a few questions, and hope any moms can help me
1. From the Doman's book, we show 5 cards each time and except for the first time, we wait for 15 minutes then show another set. With the math curriculum, there are Day 1 Lessons, Day 2 Lessons, and so on. For each Lesson, it has Session 1 and Session 2. I know Session 2 is optional. Under Session 1, there are 3 lesson 1, 2 and 3. I found out that all lessons under Session 1 for day 1 to day 4 are from 0 to 5. It's quite different from what I know for Doman's method. So the new math curriculum is not following the Doman's method?
2. Under Session 1, there are 3 lessons, should I show all 3 at a time? Or wait for 15 minutes then show the next? It is going to the same 0 to 5 (randomly) . Any suggestions?
3. I have been using Chinese (Cantonese) to show the flash card. In this case, if I want to use LM, should I record my own voice in Chinese then play it? I believe we can modify the curriculum to use our own voice, correct?
4. There are many icons other than red dots. Should we start with red dots for very young baby first?
5. When my 2.5 yr baby was 8 month, I have shown her red dots flash card as well, but I failed to be consistent. And once I have stopped it for a while due to my second pregnancy, my daughter did not seem interest at all! So, with the new LM, do you think I can still play with her? If so, how should I start?
Thanks a lot!!
Tina

Products Marketplace / Product Discussions and Reviews / Re: ybcr - doing something other than the suggested viewing schedule?
|
on: June 17, 2009, 10:59:46 PM

I have started ybcr with my daughter when she was around 18 to 20 month. And my daugther was bored after I showed it for 3 weeks too. I then emailed a lady from the website where I found out ybcr, and she told me to stick with the schedule. (don't ask me for the website now as I have to dig out from my emails.. it's more than 6 month ago). So I just stick with the schedule. When I showed her the second DVD (vol. 1), she shows more interests and again, this time, after about 3 weeks, she wasn't paying full attention on the DVD. I found out that she even knew the words before it showed on the screen!! I was amazed to see that, and so I did not follow the schedule afterwards.
I can say that she knows most of the words from the DVDs but not all yet! That's why I still show her once in a while. I just show her the review DVD today and she sat very still for the whole thing! But the review DVD is 40-minute long! I should have watched it before I showed her so I can stop at 20-minute! The review DVD is actually more like LR or flashcard because it showed the words faster than the last 4 DVDs.
In my case, since my daughter talks quite early and whenever she said the words before the screen shows it, I know she already knows the words!! Hope this helps!

BrillKids Software / Little Math - General Discussion / Re: new LM?
|
on: June 17, 2009, 02:15:28 AM
|
I have installed the new one without uninstalling the old version because I would like to keep all old media files. However, after I installed the new one, a pop-up box showed that it has detected some previous media files and asked me to ensure that nothing is accessing that folder. I clicked OK and nothing happened. And I can't see the old media files in the new LM.
What should I do now?
Thanks
P.S. The Start Guide never shows anything on my LM.

Thanks! It works now!
However I have found another problem....sorry, I was just browsing the new LR and think I should report it. When I click on "Help" from the toolbar and choose "Frequently Asked Questions", it opened another web browser and showed a 404 error with "OOPS! The page you are looking for cannot be found."

Hi,
I have tried to click on the question #3 "How should I show Little Reader to my child" inside the LR FAQs and it gave me "IE Script error". Please see attached. All other questions are fine, but just this question give me this error. #6 seems the same question but with the word lessons after Reader.
Thanks
