jsmonton, it's so cool that you son is exposed to 3 languages.

I want my son to learn 2 to 3 languages too and so I am trying to create mandarin lessons now.

I love this topic. Babies are really amazing and I am having fun with mine everyday. I want to brag my baby but don’t mean to show off, compare to a lot of smart babies and moms here, we are just doing ok. 

My 16 months-old eat with a spoon by himself.
He recognizes most of the colors and its English words as well as most of the common animals, food and home furniture. 
He counts 1, 2, 3, 4...only {Math is always a problem here}
He says  a,b,c,d,e,f........
He points to everything that he knows and says out the words
He knows the different of the bus, taxi, light bus, van, truck…etc
He knows about 150 words, not just saying it, he truly understand the word.

I need to thank LR too, my son not just recognizes the letter, he also really understands what the word mean and facts about it. 
I am so glad that i found out about LR when my son's 1o months old.  I often said LR is the best program that I used so far and I really mean it.

My baby started to walk when he was 11 months, and start to say >10 english words when he's 12 months.

I am turning 35 and my son is now 16 months. I wish to carry another baby this year.

How many words your toddlers are reading? when did you start to LR?

I started the flash cards when my baby was 4 months, he didn't really like it but still looked at them until he's 10 months old.  I don't think he has learnt any words from flashcard because he was not interested.  

Then I found out about BK website when he was 10 months and i started to print out alot of  picture flashcards, my son absolutely loved it and learnt so fast and started to read words like apple, car, cat, bus, pig, clock when he's 13 months.

now he's only almost 16 months and i stopped the picture cards and usign LR now and he's learing even faster.

I can't help myself coming in this forum. the topic is just too interesting.

My mother in law is OK, she comes to my home for a few hour a day to play with my baby while i am at work. I appreciate that.

I have nothing bad to say about her, just she is sometimes pomposity.
 
 

My son is a mixture of my father(nose), my brother(eyes), myself,(nose, skin color) my hubby(eye brows, shape of the head), my hubby's mother(ears and eye brows), my hubby's father(face shape, skin color)...very weird...he just took little bit of everyone. :P

2/ get the wav link from the Page source ( use Find function, just type in "wav")
e.g. http://media.merriam-webster.com/soundc11/a/apple001.wav

3/ place in flashget and download it.

4/ you can download anything using it, even flash and video.

For the english words, Simply type in the word and click on the "Speaker" and it allows you to donwload the wav file. Very very useful.

i personally like to use flashcards more(it's actually picture cards, word on one side, and picture on the other) because i found that my son loves the computer too much that he started to read less. (he used to love books).

he will cry if i take him away from the computer. i don't think he needs this much of computer and i don't want him turning into some kind of computer freak, the words he's learning now, he will learn it when he's in school eventually. So i decide to look at the computer less, like every other day, 3 mins only.

I am a working mom and my son is 13 months now. i spend about 30 mins to do some flash cards, ppt on computer and a book or 2 every morning.

then when i leave to work, my helper shows him 30 mins DVD. my son gets to watch another 30 mins DVD at lunch and dinner time. My son's grandmother comes in after lunch and show him some chinese flashcards and books in the afternoon.

when i get back home, i play with him and do some flashcards, brillkids, books, dot cards...etc.

weekends, we do nothing about reading and spend most of our time outdoor.

Daddy only plays with him. 

i think it's alright but i guess it's better for him to go out more. what do you think?

I have been looking for chinese material but not much out there. I make my own chinese flash cards but as my Mandarin is not native, so i will need more information about this.
