Does anyone know if they are going to make these vaccinations mandatory?

Can your child go to school if they are not fully vaccinated with the childhood immunisations- does anyone know

I'm not a big fan of TV in under two's - research has shown it to be detrimental for language and a few other things but I do draw the line at government making it a ban. Exactly how do you think they are going to police such a thing. Maybe educate parents on the reasons why TV in under 2's is not a great tool rather than start banning

Thats sounds horrid - your poor daughter. It also reminded me of the horrible teasing that I (as well as most other children) got. Kids can be so cruel- they don't realise the impact words have. I often wonder how different people's confidence would have been without being in the schooling system
 Does your daughter not want to be homeschooled? It seems to be such a difficult decision but instinct tells me that with all the bullying and society seeming to be tolerating worse behaviour (shown by the things allowed on TV) that homeschooling would be best- what support do you have in Australia and what does everyone think of the socialisation aspect of homeschooling- especially with an only child

Wow Nikita- that is certainly an interesting point of view, I kind of felt that way but have never really thought that the way the children weren't learning 'good work ethic' was because of school. I always thought it was the parents. But I am starting to see it is school as they spend so much time there and all the hardwork the parents put in seems to be undone by children whose parents don't value hard work

My husband and I have been talking about the education system in Australia and we are very much leaning towards homeschooling. It seems to be common in the US but apparently only 2% of children are homeschooled here. Are you homeschooling already or planning to? Of course our friends and families are going to think we are odd especially with a few of them in lecturer and teacher positions.

Yes I believe the price is in USD, we just purchased little Reader today after seeing it on special- can't say enough about how fantastic this program has been and have only been using it for less than a week. My little man loves it and is asking for it already.

That would be fantastic- I will make sure to let all my friends who are wanting to teach sign language about the website, please let me know when it is up so that I can do that, I still have friends a little skeptical about right brain learning- is there any research based articles that I am able to send in their direction?

I just started little reader with my 18 month old yesterday- I have been teaching him sign language- he knows about 35 signs and says about 20 words. Absolutely loving signing with him and so glad I put the effort in to teach him.
Crazy thing is that I showed him a file of animals in little reader and when I showed the word for crocodile even before the picture he did the sign for crocodile. I thought it was a coincidence but he did it again before the picture came up. All I could think of was that I have used flashcards with him in the past and he has a crocodile book I read to him regularly but I have no idea how he could have possibly read it?
I'm blown away by what little sponges babies are- can't believe that post about little girl reading at 5 months- so amazing.

I am new to the forums and enthusiastically working on some transportation files for my wee man who is obsessed with anything to do with wheels. I tried out the audio but it is not very clear and I sound a bit strange- do I need a new microphone- what do others do, also noticed this site seems predominantly american? so would my good old kiwi accent not do - is it better to put in pictures and leave parents to add there own audio rather than mine?

Sorry about all the questions so soon but I am very excited about the program- my eighteen month old watched the fruits and at the end of it said watermelon- I was stunned that he could learn that so quickly.

Hi My Name is Natalie- I live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney in Australia and have a six month old son Ethan.
Have been looking through the 'Litle Reader' and it is really comprehensive and very much met my needs. Still figuring out how to do my own cards up.
I would be interested to know at what age people have found their children able to read after using this program?
