Have you bought the TweedleWink DVDs?  I have the complete set consisting of the TweedleWink Lessons (1 to 6), Math, Multiple Languages and Phonics. A total of 9 DVDs. Are you based in the US?

I bought tweedle wink for my 3 yr old. We also did all the your baby can read books. But my little Nicolas is not interested in watching the tweedle wink videos, even w/ how short they are. He keeps goofing around during it, lying down ( which i read on your baby can read that they have to sit upright to learn the words correctly). I try to make no big deal about his behavior during the videos, but I am getting frustrated, esp since they were so expensive and I am not getting the response from him that I want. He also does the same thing when I try to do the LM program. He just wants to hit all the keys on the computer, and even knows that you hit the escape button to exit out of a lesson. How will I ever teach him anything when he keeps doing this? I always keep it short and lighthearted ( when i'm doing flashcards), but he just grabs the cards from me and wants to bend them and throw them. If he isn't interested, I give him the option to do it at a later time, but sure enough, when it is later and I attempt again, he does the same thing. What do I do? I am so disheartened. I want to teach him so badly.! HELP.
Please anyone w/b fast.
thanks, Robine

Wishful be patient! I will recomend you to have a break of everything flashcards, ybcr, books, let him miss that stuff for alittle bit maybe 1 week or two weeks even better. After that maybe you will have his attention.
Other thing could be typical of his age, some kids are more active than other, you maybe should be more interactive , do like games with him,use toys  that he likes...could be small toys like little people, little cars, little animals, children love to feel with his little fingers stuff, don't forget children learn by senses.
this is a reallgy good link where you can find tons of ideas and activities to do with your child:
I love this site I got some cool, easy and cheap ideas to help my toddler to learn:

http://www.earlylearningathome.com/math-for-preschoolers

I am just getting tired of buying all this dvd's, I have acumulated so many, like YBCR,LITTLE PIM,SIGNING TIME,LEAP FROG (all of them),SOME baby Einstein,yOGA KIDS. I don't want to  buy anymore dvds at least this 2010. I think is good but it is a lot of money, las year I think I cross the line a little bit. She watches two shows a day (she can pick up 2 dvd's). Besides we do flascards and LR. She does good but sometimes I will prefer not tv at all....just have a break and stick with other activities.

Good luck.

Robine - I bought TweedleWink for my older boy when he was 2 1/2 years old.  He was the same. He wouldn't sit still or watch the TV.  In the end, this was what I did with him:

1. I would play the TweedleWink lesson for him when he was sleepy; or when I was nursing him.
2. I would play the TweedleWink DVDs while he played with his toys.

For number 2, I was told that the right brain learns through three ways:

1. Directional (like the left brain - that is, when you look directly at what is being taught)
2. Peripheral (the right brain can still learn even if it sees things out of the corners of the eye)
3. 360 degree (the child can still learn even without looking - it was shown when some children who were running around in class - seemingly paying no attention to the teacher - were able to repeat what had been taught in the class)

It's hard for us to comprehend the latter two because we can only learn through directional learning.  I had a hard time getting my head around it, too, but now I figure it is a little like a magician performing a magic trick.  To the audience, it looks like magic because they can't imagine how the magician has managed to pull off the trick. But to the magician who understands how the trick works, it makes perfect sense.  Similarly, in this case, the child is the magician - he learns regardless of whether he appears to pay attention or not.  As parents, we're the audience, it looks impossible to us because we've lost that right brain potential.

So, don't worry.  Don't force your son to watch the TV.  Just play the lessons in the background and let him carry on with his own thing.  Whether you want him to or not, he will learn from them.

I remember reading a quote from a 7 year old girl who had been taught the Shichida method from young: "I can copy a page into my head if I look at it for an instant.  I then read it in my head, even though the book is closed."  I think learning for really young children is kind of similar but since they cannot explain to us how they learn things, we assume they learn the same way we do - the slow and painful way.  But think about all the things that a child has accomplished from not being able to walk or talk as a newborn.  If a child were to learn the same way we do, they would take a lot longer to master all those skills.

You may also find, as I have, that there will be certain parts of the lesson that your son will always look up at.  Things that interest him.  For instance, my son would always watch the part about phonics, perfect pitch, and speed reading.  Because the TweedleWink lesson covers all subjects, there is bound to be something that interests your child more so than the others and he will pay closer attention to that part of the lesson.  It may be an indication of your child's interests - something that you will be able to build on and cultivate.  For example, Tiger Woods is a golf pro, Mozart was a music genius.  Your child may be a Math whiz.

I hope that helps put a little more perspective on early childhood education.

Hi, yes they work everywhere. DVD's are not like the old VHS and BETA tapes. DVD's work universally in any DVD machine - and they are GREAT!!!!!!!!

Sarah108--are you positive about that?  It was my understanding that they still code them differently so they can charge differently in different regions and combat piracy somewhat in countries where there is little control.  Unless you have a region-free DVD player.
