Hi KL,

Why I mentioned about the () is because from the parents class that was held by Shichida, they told that it's important to mention the open bracket and close bracket but LM doesn't have this function. Hopefully the group can overcome this problem and make the programme more flexible to have the () input and have the bracket being pronounce out. Hopefully this will make my point clear.

p/s: anyway, I had created the 65 days programme and will uploaded it into the library.

I also fr Hong Kong, that is why I can read both. Right now u r stationed in HK?

That is the problem if it is not run by the same management!
I went to the Toa payoh branch, e admin staff r very polite. I don't know why many people commented them of bad service. They even asked me have any questions to ask them.

Mother company will always be the best. All I can say is that there is no problem w Shichida method, it's only how they run it. I hear alot of minus pts regarding the school in S'pore but I still enroll my son in as I believe in Pro Shichida. I am sure he doesn't know all these problems in S'pore.

Sure I will keep everybody updated!

Hi luckymommy,

not many singaporeans know how to read traditional chinese ....... i for one can't .... but my wife from hong kong can ..... unfortunately in HK they don't have shichida classess ....

I went to the toa payoh branch and ... quite snobbishly  .... asked to pay but they would not reply much to the qns ...except to say it's all in the dvd ... which your made to see ..... so i contact the japanese side .... and wow how and what they conduct in japan is quite different from what and how they conduct in singapore .... from talking to other parents and from web ..... all i can say the results maybe different ....  afterall in japan its classes are a daily affair ....

in any case would like to hear and know more from you when your baby starts his classess .....

Dear Luckymommy 1307,

Shichida has the dots sets for sale at their Tensai shop - it's much cheaper than the GD ones.  You can also choose to make your own flashcards - I think Little Maths is quite useful in this aspect.

Since your child is under age of 3, you can do the shorter-version of thr 65 day programme, ie no need to ask child to image (visualise) dots to numbers. ie, just do day 1 to 58 and rest for 1 month before starting the cycle again.

I think Agnescharm has uploaded the 65 day programme.

All the best!

Hi mummies,

I had been thru both SM and GD maths with my boy for the past 4 years.

He started at 2 yrs old with SM maths and their dot cards. Took me some time to complete even 1 cycle. Got a little bit of "result" when he was able to answer all my 10 question of addition and subtraction with qty within 10. As we proceed into 2nd cycle, process got even slower. He almost lost interest in maths dots! I realised that the biggest reason is because I dun really understand what the program structure is then and when I post the question during a parent volunteer meeting, I was told that it's their "trade secret"! I was totally annoyed of course.  tongue But we do enjoy the rest of the method which my son is pretty good with like IQ and memory trainings and we do have a very nice sensei that likes my boy very much.

I discover abt GD math after more than 1 yr of SM math. We started immediately and GD and my boy fell in love with this program cos I know what I am teaching and he understands what he is learning. I even change to GD dot cards which he simply love them a lot better than SM cards. There is a reason why GD's card is square and big. Kids like big dots and square means u can change orientation of card each time i.e. u dun see just 1 or 2 orientation of 10 dots  with SM a4 card but 4 types with GD card.  big grin

We had great fun with GD method and till today, he still loves his dot cards even though he is almost 7! We dun need them anymore but he just enjoys playing with them. I doubt he can "see" the dots anymore but he can still "link" qty to numerals when he hears the numbers. GD maths indeed help me in developing his math foundation. We are though slow on the program but we do see satisfactory results. Might not have made him a math genius but at a least developed a love for the subject which I hated the most. He is at least doing maths at min. 1 grade above his peers. smile

Mummies, do find out abt SM maths if u need to..but I would strongly recommend GD math.

U dun really have to attend SM classes to use the method..There are many products that are almost the same such as Wink. There are also many more products that u can use for such right brain trainings. I dun depend on 1 source. I always look out for any suitable materials  for all different areas of trainings.

Hope my input be useful...

Hello Mummies, I have been through SM program for 4 years with my older boy (7 yrs now) and have seen great results though I have never complete the 65 days math program. My boy is able to understand and pick up new things at one or two explanations. Best of all, he has a very strong memory which all teachers have commented.

Now I have another boy who's 11 mths. I try the GD's method on teaching him swimming and after 3 mths, we are seeing some result too. However, my hubby doesn't like that and has requested to put him on right-brain training program. The younger one is also enjoying the flashcards which I now use powerpoint to deliver.

As long as we give them variety and stop before they lose interest, the kids will think we are playing with them without them knowing we are actually teaching. It doesn't matter if it's SM or GD method as long as you are enjoying the learning process with your kid. Most important...don't forget to praise the kid for the right things done/right behaviour and shower with lots of love!!

LGbabe, thanks for your input! That's great to hear.  You said your son has been on the Shichida Math method for 4 years.  Which part of those 4 years and for how long a period was he put through the 65-day course?

i have viewed the print out shichida 65-Day Math programme.. i dun understand what is the difference between GD Math and SM except for the equation part - For SM : You are only required to flash read out the answer of the equation i.e. say 1+1, flash answer to your child. For GD Math : required to flash 1, say "+" flash 1, then answer. Its only after sometime then required to just say out the equation and flash answer to your child.

Actually i dun really quite like SM of just flashing the answer to our child. Its like memorising the answer without knowing the concept of math. Remember for SM, it was said to stick strictly to the equations as stated in the programme. so, of course after some time of hearing the same equation being read out, kids will remember the answer. But do they really know the concept behind it? Will the child only know 8+2=10 but wont know the result of 10 can be 5+5, 4+6, 1+9

I prefer the GD Math cos by flashing 1, then 1, follow by the answer, the child will have a vision/concept of addition.

Hi vianbab

Could you elaborate when you said your boy love GD cos you know what you are teaching and he understand what he is learning? I suppose when you said your boy likes GD cards becos it has variety sets of dot cards i.e. random dots, organised dots and pattern dots (just like LM)

What is the difference that made your boy love more about GD method?
