First Suzuki Lesson

Well Wesley and I had our first Suzuki lesson.
The first thing we practiced was the holding the violin, then we learned about the bunny bow hold, then we did a little exercise for our fingers. Wesley was shy, but seemed to enjoy it. We plan on practicing almost every night before bed these techniques. I went out and bought him the Suzuki Vol 1 with CD and I ordered because they were out I Can Read Music by Joanne Martin. These are just for me to review and also so I can play the Suzuki CD for my son. I was thrilled to hear that our teacher has perfect pitch so I will have to ask her about that too.

Hello,
I am very interested in Suzuki method as well and would be great to read about your progress. Could you please let me know how old is your son? My son is 1,4 and not sure whether it is too early or not.

My son is 5. I contacted our local Suzuki school when he was 3 and they said they prefer to start girls at 3 and boys at 4. I'm sure if I had been more insistent they would have taken him, but to be honest neither of use were ready. Now they offer a baby Suzuki class for 6months to 3 years. Google your local school and call them for more info

waterdreamer i can't imagine a 6 month learning violing. Maybe it is learning to listen to music or wathc the notes somewhat like Trebellina.

Congratulation for this new adventure with your kid. I know how happy you are about Wesley violin classes. That is marvelous.

Just today i saw my grandson paying more attention to the keyboard. I played 'Are you sleeping' and he was like following. I hope in a few months he would be able to receive keyboard lessons.

NEW! Suzuki Baby Class

Explore the world of music with your baby or toddler! Watch them develop their innate musicality while learning social and language skills.

This new class for children ages 6 months - 3 years will be held on Saturdays from 10:15-11:15am on the University of Manitoba campus. Instructor Zohreh Gervais will lead children and parents through a variety activities which will help the children develop social skills, memory and rhythmic and melodic awareness, and will provide parents with a repertoire of action songs and nursery rhymes to use at home. Tuition includes a curriculum CD, washable scarf, and duotang of handouts for each family.
