Suggestions regarding Lesson Plans for a 7 month old

Does anyone have suggestions on a lesson plan for teaching reading, and problem solving skills to a 7 month old!

For instances for how long, how many times a day and what I should be teaching a 7 month old?  I have read many books and they all suggest something different!

I personally wouldn't have a "plan" for a 7 month old. I would just follow my child's lead. Show flash cards, LR, PPTs, etc. You'll know if your child gets bored or if he wants more. Then you can sort of make a plan, but be prepared for it to change.

I agree. Pick out some fun words, things you know your child will like and make some paper flash cards. Have you looked into Your Baby Can read? Also have you started signing with your child yet. This is the perfect age to introduce that. That way your child can communicate to you what s/he is reading or looking at. Makes it easier for you to teach them what s/he is interested in.

I agree with Nikki, that what worked best for us, -- just following baby's lead. Sometimes I had to decide through how much "school" time I should allow her max    she tend to want more and more and more. So I just put some limits for myself to remember, and switched activities. That helped her to not get bored...

Yes, I forgot about YBCR. We started it when my son was about 7 months old.

Also... I usually had an idea what different activities I can do, and then felt free to chose from those throughout the day. So even though I did not had a regimented plan, I had somewhat of an idea and then followed her lead.

I divided possible activities in few categories:

Music

Reading and EK

Math

Independent play

Montessory type activities

Literature

Languages

Physical activities

Then, I had a variety of things I found as ideas prepared ( either on my computer or on paper), so I can pull any of them at any time

here is an example:

Music

** Classical music selection to listen to during play
** LR files about musical instruments, music, sounds, notations
** Perfect pitch training audio to listen to ( I have a program in Russian, that has simple songs with perfect pitch training), -- to put during her play time
** Videos of children playing musical instruments ( that was and is a real HIT)
** Songs in one of the languages that we are learning ( depending on the day of the week sometimes, sometimes I was not that consistent)
** Watching daddy play instrument
** Letting experiment with one of the instruments under supervision...
** etc

Reading and EK

** YBCR
**LR curriculum
** LR categories in different languages that we learn
** Handwritten flash cards
** Paper flashcards
** reading book together

Math

** LM
**Simple games with her blocks ( not really expecting much participation at that age, just having fun)

Independent play

** I rotated different educational tiys, blocks, etc, and encouraged her independent play

Montessory type activities

** Textures
**Colors, blocks, temperature activities, etc

Literature

** We had a selection of a few poems for the week that we read a few times each
** I had short poem or classical literature piece played to her on audio while she is having her independent play in a few different languages that we are learning
** Listening to audio dramas
** Reading books


Languages

** Songs in languages that she is learning ( we can listen to them, dance to them, just have then on the background, it depends)
** Listening to audio children dramas or classical pieces in those languages
**Little Pim ( we just introduced it then)
**PPPs and LR

Physical activities

** Crawling, playing
** Ball exercises
** Massage
**Swimming
etc


These are just some ideas, but it really worked for me to prepare at least something in each categor and then just follow her lead for that particular day. Some day we did more, others, less....
