Write a Children's Story!

Here’s how to join:

1. Write a simple story for very early readers, so make sure your words can be read at a basic reading level.
   •   Your story can be a SIMPLIFIED ADAPTATION of popular stories, or one that’s COMPLETELY ORIGINAL.
   •   5 to 15 slides per story

2. Plan your storyboard by splitting your story into 1 or 2 sentences per slide.

3. Post a summary of your entry in this thread in the following format:
Title: The title of your story and your name (you may use a pen name, if you like)
Slide 1: One or two sentences of your story
Image:  Describe your illustration or what illustration you mean to have
              Picture Audio: (if any)
Slide 2:  Another sentence or two from your story
Image:  Describe your illustration or what illustration you mean to have
              Picture Audio: (if any)

4. You can post as many entries as you like!

Duration:
Contest ends on August 22, 2008

Judging:  KL & I will review the entries on August 22nd. We will announce the winners on August 25, 2008.

[EDIT: As we won't be able to review everything until Monday 25th, you can still submit entries over the weekend!]

Prizes:

The person with the best story will get  5,000 loyalty points, plus we will actually commission a professional artist to illustrate the story and publish it as one of the default categories for Little Reader with credit going to the author!

We will also choose the Top 10 Storytellers and give them 1,000 loyalty points each!

Criteria for Judging:
   •   Originality
   •   Creativity
   •   Suitability and effectiveness for the early reader

Adding Pictures and Audio:
Although the contest doesn’t require this, you can still choose to create your own story categories and playlists, and add your own images, pronunciation and picture audio.  The more people download your story, the more points you earn!

so it's not judged with any pictures? you are just judging by the story itself?

That's right, Nikki.  happy The contest doesn't require them to be illustrated nor made into categories, but of course you are all free to make them into Little Reader playable files for everyone to enjoy!  This time, we hope everyone will join the contest, seeing as it is much easier to submit an entry.  yes

Being one of the most creative members of our forum, I look forward to seeing work from you soon!

Cheers everyone, and have fun!  LOL

Hi Lappy,

I have attached my story as a ppt slide with some illustrations from clipart. Though they are not very consistent, they tell the story!  big grin

Is this what you are looking for? Shall i make it simpler?

Wonderful, Anushyam!! What a great story to get the ball rolling!

My only comment would be that some slides could be made shorter or split into another slide, cos this is aimed for the very early reader. But in any case, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! smile

Thanks for all your effort!

Hi, wasn't sure if this was too simple.  I can get all the photos for it though.  I thought that there can be a vocabulary list to work on before reading the story too.  Hope it is close to what your looking for.

Wonderful work, all!! Man, I think this is going to be a very hard contest to judge!!

Koala Girl, you could almost turn that into a Little Reader download already! Why don't you make it one and let us all (and our kids) enjoy it too?

Thank you!  I can go ahead and download it but I don't have my microphone up and running yet.  I can download it without me reading it or I can try to get my microphone running.  Thanks for the encouragement though!

I love the other stories too!  I can't wait to see more.  My DD and I are having so much fun together here already.  My older kids even get on Brillbaby when I'm not watching just for the fun of it!
