SAWRAWB Sister,

Ma sha'Allah! I can see a lot of hard work there. Al hamdulillah professional qurra' stop according to grammar  happy . Your choice of Hussari is excellent (although he may be too slow IMHO and my toddler may quickly get bored). We listen to Minshawi as his tarteel is very intelligible and paced a bit faster. However, I don't think some of the Qurra' you mentioned are adaptable to young children. For example, Al Afasy's tarteel, is way too complicated, if a child tries to imitate him, he may focus more on the musicality of his voice and gets his tajweed messed up. This quari' is my favorite though  smile Anyway, I think you are making the right choices. I can't wait to try your ideas with my toddler isA.

wa 'alaikum as salaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,

I am fascinated by how the waqf change or emphasize the meanings of phrases or ayat, and how different Qur'aa may stop differently.

We also listen to Minshawi when they are going to sleep, and for learning how to recite with tajweed, Hussary mu'allim and tarteel are the 'golden standard'.  And once they can recite the surah with minimal mistakes, is when I allow them to recite using Minshawi at a faster pace.  The other reciters, for us, are for enjoyment once one can understand what is being recited, and to learn the maqaamat (either indirectly via listening/mimicking or via actually studies in maqaamat, which is a highly debated topic amongst the Scholars.   rolleyes ).

I am almost done with Surah 059 al-Hashr, and then Surah 058 al-Mujadilah to complete Juz 28 Qad Sami'ah, insha'Allah.  smile  Then I have to proof everything, and create images for both the WFW and ayat cards to upload into categories for LR.  We can also create ayat cards based on Minshawi recitation, as I intend to include the soundclips of the ayat, insha'Allah.  And at a future time, the WFW pronunication of the individual Qur'anic Arabic words will also be included, bi ithni Allah.

Du'as, please!

Baraaka Allahu feek.

as salaam 'alaikum,

Ayesha

as salaam 'alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh.

ramadhan mubaraak!

alhamdulillah - i finally completed the WFW flashcard sets for the last 3 ajzaa'.  now i have to proof and edit them; and then fix LR (it is locked up!  ohmy ) in order to create LR categories for each surah.  do you think it will be beneficial to have the individual words and ayat cards in LR categories?  i am wondering before i put a lot more work into it.  and i want to put the WFW and ayat flashcards into Anki/SM which is more for memory/retention of meanings, etc.  but LR would be for learning the words to begin with and in order and random, also with making the 'hidden' tashkeel obvious for noorani spell reading purposes, which would not be used in Anki/SM.  hmm - i wonder if it would be duplicated efforts?  perhaps not - because LR would be a continuation of noorani lessons 6 (spelling reading individual words) and the lesson 17 (spell reading ayat).

and should we also add category sets for couplets (2 words), phrases (3 words), and sentences (4 -6 words / ayat), for each surah, using the soundclips from the word-for-word recitation of houseofquran.com or another professional reciter (that would have to be recorded)?   i originally wanted to create doman sets for each surah via LR. what do you think my dear?

jazaaki Allahu khaira.

as salaam 'alaikum.

Wa Alaykum Assalam Sister,

Sorry I completely missed out your post. I didn't get any email notification Sad . Also, Eid Mubarak (I see you wrote your post in Ramadan, I hope you enjoyed it as well as the Hajj season).

To answer to your question, I think you are doing wonderful, ma sha' Allah. That is so detailed, did you think of any other way to make it simpler (at least technically)? How many hours do you think you need to work on that? I wish I could help, but I am currently working on Arabic Phonics, I plan to make LR files that would cover everything in 6 months isA, then move on to Sarf & Tasreef the pattern phonics way. So kids will intuit Grammar rules by just watching flashcards of repeated patterns. I would like to include examples from Qur'an, Hadith and Arabic fine poetry & prose. The whole project may last 3 years  ohmy  So please make du'aa for me  smile Oh, and I will be slowly adding LR files isA so keep an eye on my uploads Wink

jazaaki Allahu khaira.

wa 'alaikum as salaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh!

Belated 'Eid Mubarak to you and yours.  How is everything?

Ohhh - I am still trying to find a SRS (http://www.omniglot.com/language/srs.php) that works with the KFGQPC Hafs font.  I think this one is going to work because it utilizes ppt files:  http://opencards.info/ after the author can help me figure out some technical difficulties.   unsure  And I am unsure if I will convert it all over to LR or not.  We will see.

What project are you working on?  What is Arabic phonics and pattern phonics?  And how is it applied to sarf and tasreef?  Your premise is correct - I read a study that students who memorized Qur'an, actually understood grammar lessons better, because they had internalized the patterns and recognized them easier than those who had not memorized.

I have not been using LR too much these days - but I would love to see what you are working on.

Baaraka Allahu feek.

as salaam 'alaikum.

Wa Alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,

The project you are talking about is really perfect to teach a whole bunch of things at the same time: Qur'an memorization, vocabulary, rasm, right brain development. I however don't understand the purpose from using different flashcard systems, aren't LR and PPT good enough? (because for me they are  big grin ). Can you please explain how do you use SRS, opencards and Anki, because I feel I am missing sth  huh

Well, concerning the first stage of the project I am working on, it is a sort of Noorani qua'ida for the Modern Standard Arabic. I'd like to teach my son both the Classical via QN for Qur'an reading, and the MSA for the rest of all the books: from storybooks to Fiqh. I have been using way too much DVDs with him and couldn't find ANY program that teach phonics properly. So I decided to make DIY LR presentations. I will be isA consulting Dad who taught Advanced Arabic Literature for more than 35 years ma sha'Allah.

Advanced stages will isA include sarf, tasreef, balagha, aroudh, etc. LR should be especially convenient for this as I intend to emphasize patterns using split mode (or equivalent) to show words stems and roots, a major characteristic of the Arabic language.

Please let me know if there is any thing you would like me to include in the project.
