bjad's first breakthrough is the idea of(moveable/hinged)  'hands'. Letters with hands can hold a following letter, or a 'tail' when at the end of a word.

Abjad's second breakthrough is the colour coding of all the letters into seven groups based on the seven colours of the rainbow.
