will current users be charged for premium downloads?  or will we be "grandfathered" in?  as in should I download anything I think I might want now, before I have to pay?  and  I have many .cat files getting ready to up load, just putting finishing touches on them, should I upload after the conversion, or will I get the same amount of points if my files are downloaded after?

Question for you- KL and Lappy  I understand you guys already launched the LReader in Chinese  would it be possible for you to share those files designed by LR with us here LR English? I am always in the search for QUALITY Chinese Mandarin materials but words without graphics or translation are useless for non-chinese speakers looking to learn chinese.

Hi everyone!

To answer a few of your questions -

All users will be "charged" for the premium content - but mind all of you that the charging will only happen as an exchange for points.  All of you can download anything you want now, but we are also going to re-release many of our standard categories which will be "beefed up" in terms of media, available only after we launch our new products.

As for the files you are yet to upload, I would suggest uploading them soon - the new points system will give you points ONLY when you get to Premium Status; since the current system gives you points for uploading right away, it's best to do it now. 

And yes, we will also be releasing many more BrillKids categories in different languages - most, if not all, have media attached to them, to make it easier for those who are not native speakers of the language.

Any chance LM and LR will be available for MacIntosh anytime soon?

Unfortunately, as Lappy mentioned, not so soon. Most likely next year.  The only solution for Mac users now is to run Windows on Mac using Boot Camp.

May  I ask if you included  'PHONICS' lessons?

As Nikki mentioned, yes, though there are plans to enhance it even further for v2 release later this year.

To add to what Lappy said, Premium downloads will require points for download, though existing users will get a lot of the new content as part of the 12 month curriculum.  But yes, you should download what you think you might want now.

As mentioned in the announcement, existing users will be given a free software upgrade. You will be able to use LR/LM forever.  You will also get the 12 month curriculum with all the new Categories.  Yes, there will continue to be a points system, though the details will be different (to be announced later).

i am excited about purchasing LM this week and i am really looking forward to the new versions.

i feel so emotional about all of this (probably a mood swing and i am probably going to regret being so mushy and regret what i type now). i know for a fact that my baby wouldnt be the way he is now without the help of LR. i wouldnt have started this maths program and i wouldnt have prepared my materials so meticulously. i wouldnt be using the checklist that i have each day. my son wouldnt know what an anemometer is and i wouldnt know about lil pim or that angelina jolie uses it. i would have done a lot of things different (and not in a good way)

thanks for actually going ahead and creating this. for believing that brillkids could actually be successful and for believing in our kids.

i look forward to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING from brillkids.

We do intend to do at least mini-curriculums for foreign languages, though starting with major languages like Chinese first.

It's just a name we gave for a special classification.  We could have chosen names like "Gold", or "VIP", or "Good Stuff" , but we chose to call it "Premium".  Basically, it is just a way for us to label a file to let you know which files have been approved by us to be of high-enough quality.
