LITTLE MUSICIAN
Little Musician will teach a child:
Sing Along - This is essentially a baby karaoke, letting them sing along to nursery rhymes. The best part is, this will also really help a child learn to read too!
......!
If you have any suggestions as to what we can include, please let us know!
KL
Thank you for working on it! Great great idea.
Would it be possible to use the
songs of our choice in a "baby karaoke" style, like you mentioned about nursery rhymes? For example to have a possibility to import our MP3 file of the song, and then to type in words line by line in a LM editor of sorts, which would make it easy to synchronize them with the music? What about option of having a recorder incorporated so that parents who are musicians themselves can possibly record a song for a child with their own voice and make it in a "baby karaoke" style? Personalization is so important, so it will be great to have this option!
Or a possibility to
enter a simple sequence of notes ( melody) and play it back with the note that plays at the moment being highlighted or followed by an arrow. (Entering can be done either by a mouse on the “virtual keyboard” in the program; or through the assigned keys on the PC keyboard, or trough plugging in the actual keyboard to computer.. I am not sure which would be the easiest to incorporate … just ideas)
Would it be possible to have
notes and combination of notes played by various musical instruments? (EG, guitar, violin, piano, chello, trumpet, etc.), this way it will be possible to: introduce child to different musical instruments, teach musical recognition, keep lessons and learning individual notes fun and interesting, since there will be variety of sounds for the same note. Also it will possibly work to have a preset option, where we can chose combinations of notes to play, which musical instruments we would like to use for that, etc. Similar how in Little Math we have presets with the voice reading numbers in different languages, but then we can use those pre-sets in indefinite number of ways – equations, progression of numbers, random, etc. This way there will be lots of possibilities for using it.
It will be nice also to include
photos of different musical instruments, possibly with short bits of information about them
Will be great to have a
diagram of a piano/guitar with the notes, showing how notes relate to the piano keyboard/guitar… Possibility of printing out those diagrams to post on the walls or use as flashcards possibly can be a useful option
When the notes are introduced, it will be nice to have an option to show the child
where these notes are located on the piano keyboard/guitar ( etc.) and how they sound (possibly picture or animation), how they are played in full notes, half notes and quarter notes.
Basic scales and chords progressions, it will be nice to have an option in pre-sets to
highlight the notes that child is learning or learned so far, while showing scale or chord, or chord progression, so they see it, hear it and see how the notes they just learned or are learning fit into certain scale….
Another things that go more along with
learning to read and recognize music and beginning playing…
Symbols for a whole note, half note, quarter note, and an eighth note; introducing a measure and a bar line; the staff and grand staff symbols; the sharp, flat, and natural symbols, how these symbols affect the notes and keys that are played; the Treble or G Clef and the Bass or F Clef, showing which hand to use to play which notes on a keyboard; rests, showing where notes are not played; concept of a beam to tie notes together; key signature, which shows you what keys are played as a sharp or a flat; time signatures, which shows the child how many beats are in a measure, and what note is equal to one beat; etc…
These are just some ideas... What do you think?
