Very nicely made curriculum, and it sure does hold my daughter's attention.
She adores the kid's voice and I like the way it is spoken 'naturally, i.e quite quickly.

Well done BK for providing such programs!

Yes very much interested in LRC ... but 12mths program means, a yrs program and you can take as long as you want to finish it and can be played over again and again some yrs later?? or everything expires in exactly 12 mths even if you have not even touched or finished the program??

Our products no longer have any expiry dates, so you can use it forever.

Quote
thx .... hmm do i have to pay again if you have a traditional version or the fonts will be added so you can choose if to display traditional or simplified?

We tried to have both traditional and simplified in the same program, but could not due to technical reasons related to how fonts work.  If you want both traditional and simplified, there will likely be an extra payment required, but we'll try to work out a reasonable upgrade path some time (though timing may depend on getting some technical parts of our website enhanced first).

Thanks, Hypatia! Glad you like it! smile

KL,
Does your reply mean that we can use program or 12 month organized curriculum forever?
TIA,
NadiaD.

You can install LR and LM in two computers, is it the same way with the Chinese curriculum?

Thanks!

Hypatia, you already have the Chinese Curriculum Add-on and recommend it?
Is there any preview of it anywhere? I'd love to see what I would be buying.

thankyou!

And would it be appropriate for a mama and a 4 yr old to learn from?

Will you be offering a free trial for the Chinese add on? I would really like to see how my kids respond to it before purchasing it.

Hi Leanne
I was about to answer: it's exactly like the English curriculum  LOL but then i remember you don't have it.
I'm sure you would learn a lot from it, as there are words flashing, picture flashing, and then sentences (so you see a block, hear/see the word block and a sentence like "what color is this block?")
For your son, is he used of watching fast programs like WTL, or TW? If so he'll  love the curriculum, and if he knows some words/seems bored, you can fastforward to stories for example.

For the preview, you'd need to ask KL  Wink

- Yes, Chinese curriculum can be used forever, and can be installed on up to 2 computers at any one time.

- Preview - we are working on putting out some Categories for preview.

- It's the same as the English ONLY in terms of how it is structured - ie., Word Flash, Multisensory, Picture Flash, Pattern Phonics, Stories, etc.

- It's different in that it is NOT just a translation. Many adjustments were made to take account of the Chinese language. For example, we chose words that had a single character to start with, and later on repeat it with the double-character version.  Pattern Phonics lessons are based on the pinyin system so the child can start to learn to read pinyin too (essential learning) and also familiarize him/herself with the 4 tones and different sounds.

I am sure it is an excellent product and can see how much work you put into it to make it a reality. I hope i can afford LR an chinese curriculum.

Yes, although it would certainly help if you know the language (since you can repeat the words and phrases and interact using that language), it certainly can still be used even if you do not know the language.

Firstly, the thing about teaching babies is that they start off by knowing close to nothing, and yet we are able to teach them.  How is this done? We do not have the benefit of being able to explain concepts to them like we can with older children, so we teach them through letting associate things - in this case, it's associating the written words with the sound (pronunciations) and the meaning (shown by pictures and videos).  If babies are able to get this, then it's not difficult for adults to get it too.

And once you understand the meaning of the word that is being shown, you can then interact with your child during the multisensory lessons, like helping her act out the actions, letting her feel her nose for the word 'nose', etc.  You could even give a commentary in your own language, for example by translating that into the native language if she already knows that word in her native tongue (though there is probably some debate as to whether this is good to do or not).  However, you can at least still understand what's being shown and interact with her accordingly.  Yes, it's not as effective as if you knew the language, but it will certainly still benefit her.

As for flash lessons, there isn't even any interaction that's required, and it's just information input, letting your child associate the written word with the sound or picture, so here it hardly matters whether you know the language or not.

We are packing up some demo Categories now to let you all try it out!

Hi Sidonia,

We're not working on a German version of the curriculum yet, but you may try creating your own Categories for now.
I've just replied to your related Tech Support topic about how to do it:

Benefits of the Chinese curriculum in my house:

-My 2yo screaming Chinese Mommy Chinese!! whenever I go near the computer, and watching many more playlists in a row than she ever has.
-While serving dinner tonight, out of the blue, I was thanked twice by a 'Xiexie Mama!' ... (we haven't heard this in LR yet obviously but I believe it's brigging up the Chinese in her :-) Priceless!
